Stockbatch Granary At Pitchford Estate Reviews

Good large property for a group of 12. Bedrooms all comfortable, spacious, characterful, though some issues with the plumbing. Hot water was ok if no one else was using it, but could dry up if they were. One room had a loose tap. Heating worked well. All rooms had ensuite, though in 2 rooms it was open to the bedroom with just a curtain for privacy. Large kitchen with 2 fridges, 2 ovens, seating for about 8.. Getting the ovens up to the required temperature was difficult for some reason, delaying mealspossible problem with the electricity supply. Very large lounge and dining room. WIFI wasn't working properly due to an ongoing change of provider. The temporary fix 5G dongle was erratic. Phone signal was weak in the house. Plenty of parking space, but the long drive was in bad condition initially, but was repaired while we were there. Overall a an enjoyable stay and would use again despite a few minor issues.
Stockbatch Granary is a very special multibarn conversion, nestled within farmland in the beautiful Shropshire Hills. We visited with family and friends across three generations and found that the Granary and surrounding area offered something for everyone, especially our dog who loved the large enclosed garden between the lounge and the 4 ground floor bedrooms. We found it clean, comfortable and well equipped. When we visited, the WiFi was being upgraded to Star Link but the super responsive and friendly property managers installed a dongle for us to connect with email and social media. We were fortunate to be able to arrange a guided tour of the Pitchford Hall and tree house by the owner, which was the highlight of our week. With a number of historic and interesting towns all within 40 minutes, a stay at Stockbatch is a great opportunity for getting to know this part of Shropshire.
We had a family Christmas with 13 people at Stockbatch Granary and it was a fantastic place. Loads of space, huge dining room and lounge and the games room was amazing. Seven bedrooms, all really nice. The big garden was fully enclosed which was fantastic for the dogs Some negatives in the reviews about wifi and the track leading to the property but they were nit picking. Phone signal was virtually nonexistent but it's in the middle of nowhere and so peaceful. Only minor negative was the oven capacity and speed to heat up when cooking for 13 but the cooks managed! We cooked the turkey at home and that was a masterstroke. Overall a great place for a big group holiday
Alison
The facilities were good. Rather unusual bedroombathroom layout. Dining room was ideal for us as we could all sit together. Some of the seating was very tired in the lounge, and there were no matches for the fire, this was mentioned, but none were brought to us at the property. The barn was really good and used by all the family. We were disappointed that the property hadnt been trimmed up for Christmas, I was told they do it the week after
Excellent large family accommodation plenty of seating for all. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful surroundings, so peaceful. We loved it and the kids all had a ball.
Stockbatch granary was a great place to stay. Had everything we needed for our week away. Would definitely stay again
As many others have said the TV is a little small for such a large room and the WIfi signal is fairly week. The table tennis needs some TLC but otherwise the house is a good venue for a large party who enjoy walkingcycling in lovely countryside.
We had the best time! ! Super spacious and bright house. Was perfect for a big group. Not much near by but this was perfect for us. The games room was a huge bonus and the views were amazing. Couldnt recommend more
As a family we loved the property the bedrooms were so comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with big fridges , freezer , lovely big oven and more than enough cooking equipment and crockery for the number of people that can be housed . There were plenty of places to sit in the living room but the sofas were a bit tired and not as comfy as we would have liked . Would have been lovely to have more garden furniture we loved the outdoor space but would have liked to spend more time out there . The games room was great and as a family we loved using this especially our teenage kids . WiFi was poor even the room it was in with teenage kids streaming was difficult for them . One tv not enough really for the number of people who will come with kids. Having said that we loved our stay there were 9 of us with 3 dogs and it was a great property to spend time as a full family and we would come back thank you .
We had a great stay. Really enjoyed the property and location.
Fabulous well stocked property with plenty of space for all. Perfect for a large groupfamily gathering. Very peaceful, right in the middle of the countryside. One bedroom does not have a shower and some of the bathroomstoilets are open to the bedrooms but this was not too much of a problem for us. There is a long track leading to the property but this was not a problem either. We had a wonderful holiday here and would definitely consider renting this property again.
Lovely converted granary & buildings in a fabulous peaceful location, great ... Lovely converted granary & buildings in a fabulous peaceful location, great walks for dogs straight from the door Well equipped for the 10 of us with plenty of room to spread out Only complaints are small ones 1 needs little decor touch ups in places 2 the sign for Stockbatch Granary needs replacing as it is broken & in the undergrowth and this made finding the track to the property difficult
This property is absolutely perfect for large groups as it has so much space. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you needed, loads of parking and a lovely garden. The dining room was fantastic and plenty big enough for us all to sit comfortably. The bedrooms are conveniently situated away from the amazing games rooms and main lounge area which is great for young children. There was a high chair there when we arrived which we didnt expect so you dont need to bring your own. Many people have commented on the state of the approach road. It's a remote farm so of course it's a farm track road and not tarmac. If you rive slowly it was no issue at all for any of our 7 cars. The only criticism as many others have reported is that one bedroom doesn't have any hot water. Wasnt a major problem for us as we had an extra bedroom for guests but it was bedroom G which is one of the nicest and biggest rooms. There was no signal to call anyone she we were fine. But as it has been mentioned a few times it should really be sorted.
Sheila
The property was well very clean and smelt lovely when we arrived. A tray with tea coffee and biscuits was welcoming. Beautiful clean white towels and bedding was really appreciated. The property is huge! With plenty of room for our large group to spread out. The kitchen was well equipped and things like lots of tea towels and dishwasher tablets so helpful. There was a nice outdoor table and benches and a few deckchairs, although one was broken. On the downside the shower in bedroom G was cold and I know has been reported before and I sent a text message during our stay to report. The garden area could do with mowing and tidying up especially if there are children playing. Overall it was a great property.
Catherine
Disappointed to find no hot water in some of the bathrooms. We noticed this had been reported previously but had hoped it would be resolved before our visit. But it has not this was reported during our stay. Very odd layout in some bedrooms With the toilet in the same room without any partitioning wall. Very bizarre. Beautiful location and plenty of space for large groups.
A very spacious property ideal for a family reunion of all ages. Something for everyone. Very well equipped, and we wanted for nothing. The only issue was bedroom G shower mixer which did not work no matter how you tried to adjust it, it was stone cold the whole time. Otherwise everything was fine.
We really enjoyed our stay. The property was lovely, with plenty of space. It was very clean but lacked TLC. The shower in the downstairs king didn't have hot water I had read this on a review so emailed Sykes but didn't get a reply. The garden needs some maintenance. The oven took forever to heat up and the shower rooms need an overhaul. Also, having a toilet in a open bedroom isn't very pleasant!
The games room is a great asset if you have children. The barn was very clean. There are maintenance issues.,cracked mirror, half of the cooker not heating properly. The big issue is the approach Potholes galore, it really puts you of going out when you get there. The countryside is lovely.but not sure we would go again because of the many large potholes.
The lane through the estate was like off reading or rallying The pot holes had potholes . Though the the home was well equipped there were a couple of issues One side of the cooker was very slow to heat up, The shower in the downstairs king had no hot water and in a house with so many guests one television was a little disappointing The phone coverage also left a lot to be desired. Even with these small issues we as a family had a fantastic time and the games room went down a storm with all the family

Ten of us had a super 3 nights at Stockbatch Granary in January to celebrate an 80th birthday. It had everything you need for a large group. The bedrooms were warm with nice bedding and fluffy towels, 2 upstairs in the main block, and 1 upstairs and 4 downstairs through the games room in The East Wing. The games room isn't heated but you soon warm up playing table tennis or table football. The kitchen was extremely well equipped to cater for a large group, and the 2 large fridgefreezers were very useful. The lounge was huge and a bit cool despite the log fire, but the complimentary basket of logs was much appreciated. We think curtains for the several floor to ceiling lounge windows would most likely make it feel warmer. There were a few plumbing issues, e.g. one shower with no hot water and a couple of loos not working, but that didn't detract from our weekend as we had plenty of rooms to use the facilities. The access road is about a mile long and is in a very poor state in several sections, with huge potholes, so great care is needed, but no damage was done to any of our 4 cars. The caretakers were friendly and responded very quickly to all my queries, and said the plumbing issues would be sorted. All in all, we had a fab time and would recommend this property.
Spacious accommodation. The living room and games room were used and enjoyed to the full. The kitchen was well equipped and Christmas lunch was prepared with ample space. The location is excellent and the granary was easy to find. The bedrooms were comfortable and roomy. The only problem we encountered was the smell of drains in bedroom C leaking down to bedroom D on our last day.
Beverley
We have just come me back from a lovely weekend at Stockbatch Granary. It is located away from it all so allows you to fully relax. The Granary is warm, clean, well stocked and comfortable. There was enough space and room for us all, a party of 14. The only negative to note for any future guests is the track that leads to the Granary has a lot of potholes so needs to be taken with extra caution. Having said this it would not deter us from visiting again.
Jeremy
Great week away with family. Very spacious and large play area was well used by everyone. Good size lononge and dining area Great views. Good sized bedrooms with ensuite facilities.
Very difficult to find, Stockbatch Granary sign should be displayed at start of farm track near Windy Nook Farm Duck Eggs signage. I paid 30 for electric car charge. We had one electric car there wasnt an external charger and when we tried to plug in to internal Electric plugs the car wouldnt charge, although all plugs would boil a kettle none would charge the car, I want to request a refund of the pre paid 30 please. The farm track to the Granary is appalling, full of deep pot holes, we were worried some damage would happen to one of our cars. For me it spoilt the whole experience of the Granary, which was such a nice place and so well equipped. Yes this is a farm track but it is also a holiday let access, and as such does need improvement. Very helpful managers, who responded to our needs.
For a group of adults friends, this was ideal. Remote though with virtually no WiFi or mobile signal so plan walking routes in advance! Apart from a few technical details with the oven and TV, we found everything well appointed and extremely comfortable.
Kathleen
The house is lovely, and huge. The games room is enormous and the table tennis and table football are in good condition not the bats and balls, they were naff. However, the internet access is completely unusable for a large party. Two of us had to work during the week and had to leave the property to find places with suitable connections. This information should have been provided beforehand so that we could have made alternative arrangements.
Loved the property and size, exactly as listed apart from the fact there are steps to every bedroom. As we had a wheelchair user in our party we look for ground floor rooms but it would have been really helpful to know about the steps in advance. The property itself was exactly the size we wanted and we had a wonderful break.
A lovely property with plenty of space and accommodation for everyone. Beautiful rural setting and very quiet and peaceful with places to visit within easy driving distance. The listing says the property is accessed by a farm track but the track is nearly a mile long with lots of potholes apparently due to the rain this year. I have a small car not built for that and had to have a tyre repaired. A pity as the place was otherwise brilliant.
Nice property in lovely location but sadly in need of some TLC. Most of the furniture, fixtures & fittings were well worn to say the least & in need of replacement. Four of the bedrooms were not cleaned very well as pointed out to me by some of our party. Bugs running across lounge carpet was not great in the evening. We were pre warned about the access road but did not realise a hummer was required. Booked this property for my wife's birthday surprise but think it's more suitable for staghen weekends.
Bhavik
Wonderful property. Comms were also great!! Would definitely recommend.
House has a real wow factor and the photos don't really do it justice. Really great for an extended family get together. We would definitely come back . Only real disappointment was the WiFi. Very limited speeds and not available in most of the property.
Stockbatch Granary was a delightful place to stay with a mixed age family party aged 4 to 76. The king rooms are all very spacious and we all enjoyed having ensuite bathrooms. The other bedrooms are also a good size, just not as big as the king bedrooms! The games room ws big enough for children to runaround and even scoot around, which was a real bonus on wet days. The countryside is beautiful and we found plenty to do locally. The only downside for us was the lack of mobile signal and poor wifi but that would probably be a bonus for other people. It's just not good enough to work from.
A spacious and well thought out property in a quiet location. We enjoyed watching hares around the grounds. The beds were comfortable. A bonus ensuite bedrooms, supplied with good size bath sheets. The kitchen was well equipped. Having two fridges meant we didn't need to shop each day. The large saucepans and trays made group cooking easier. However, the smaller saucepans didn't all have lids to fit and one of the steamers didn't fit any of the saucepans. Karen, the property manager, quickly replaced a large mixing bowl that had been put away broken before our arrival. We would all love to stay again, but the state of the track deters us from doing so. A solution to the long ongoing problem of very deep ruts leading up from the road and numerous large potholes needs to be found.
The photos do not do this property justice. Such a spacious and peaceful place set in the depths of the glorious Shropshire countryside. All three generations of our family loved their stay at Stockbatch Granary and the layout meant that the youngest members had no stairs to climb and could leave their toys out as the lounge was so large! The kitchen was blessed with a wide range of equipment and crockery etc. which really helped when cooking for 15. Even when a tap stopped working, Karen, the property manager, was quick to organise its repair. The only issue was the potholed track but everyone drove slowly without any problems. Thank you for a wonderful week.
Had a great stay here. 14 people for 3 nights. The layout of the building is very gooda large dining room for meals, a large lounge with the log fire was great for social chatting, playing games etc, and the kitchen was well stocked and had all we needed. Satnav will get you there. The road in was a challenge and heavy rain has taken its toll, so you need to be very careful as it does need some work, but the granary is perfect as a family gettogether house. Karen, the property manager was great to deal with. Would happily stay there again.
This was a really great place to bring our extended family together to enjoy social time. The big games room was fab for the children and the dining room ideal for us all to eat together.
Michael
We were getting together for a holiday with our children and grandchildren a party of 12 including small children and teenagers and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. The accommodation had lots of character and there was plenty space to enable differennt activities to happen at the same time without our feeling we were on top of each other. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious so that we were able to cater for large family meals, which we thoroughly enjyed around the impressive dining table, without any problems. Karen, the Property Manager, was very friendly and helpful. We were particularly grateful for her flexibility over our departure time possible because the house was not booked for the following week. There was an issue with the supply of hot water to the bedroom wing at first but, once this was reported to Karen, it was resolved the same day. An issue with a toilet couldn't be dealt with immediately but with many bathrooms and the extra toilet in the utility room this wasn't a big problem. The only other serious issue was the condition of the long drivewaytrack which was severely potholed so that we needed to drive very slowly and carefully to minimise discomfort and to avoid damage to the car suspension. The uphill climb from the main road, in particular, was heavily eroded by the recent heavy rainfall. It really is in need of some serious maintenance and improvement.
Amazing place will definitely return
