Is Peacocks Rest Right For Your Group

Discover why this cottage is the one for your party or family reunion...

For Families
Children can explore the surrounding farmland and countryside from this barn conversion. The open fields provide space for outdoor games and wildlife spotting. The hot tub appeals to older children under supervision. The property lacks dedicated play equipment or a garden, making it better suited to families with older children who enjoy rural settings and outdoor exploration rather than toddlers needing enclosed play areas.
Groups Will Love...
The vaulted ceilings and exposed timber beams create the standout feature at Peacocks Rest. Original structural timbers stretch across the main living space, preserved from the barn's agricultural past. These beams sit high above the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting areas, emphasising the building's former use. The height and scale of the ceiling give the space an airy feel whilst the dark timber adds warmth and character throughout the conversion.
Pet Friendly
Peacocks Rest does not accept pets. The owners maintain a pet-free policy to accommodate guests with allergies and preserve the condition of the barn conversion. Whilst the surrounding countryside and farmland would suit dogs, the property rules prevent bringing animals. Several other barn conversions in Yorkshire do welcome pets, so it's worth searching specifically for dog-friendly options if you need to travel with your pet on this rural break.

Peacocks Rest Reviews

Ayodele
From entry into accommodation we were thrilled at how spacious and clean it was. All the rooms suited our needs, each room being ensuite was perfect for us and great standard of workmanship throughout the building. As for the location, clise to Pocklington and York, was great for cycling, some beautiful routes and coffee stops. The owners were cordial and helpful.
Claire
Peacocks rest is an absolutely fantastic place to stay, so immaculately clean and very comfortable. Especially the beds It is decorated to a really high standard with a gorgeous log burner and it is catered for absolutely all your needs. A really spacious property with a lovely outdoor space and a wood fired hot tub to enjoy after a day sightseeing in York. The location is so peaceful and the owner is really friendly and professional and was so helpful for any needs we had. The perfect holiday was had there for 5 people and a dog. We look forward to returning there in the future. Loved everything about it.
The peacocks Rest was absolutely beautiful, well presented and the facilities brilliant, lovely touch with the welcome basket. If we had to comment on one thing it would be the log fired hot tub, although we got use out of it in the end it is very faffy and time consuming. Would definitely recommend to others and will hopefully return.
Peacocks Rest is wonderful. The interior is immaculate. Superbly installed and finished with everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable break. Quality and attention to detail are second to none. Externally, it is located in a peaceful setting, yet set ideally for access to local facilities and for York. Overal, Peacocks Rest is superb.
Beautiful property , everything you need and more. Lovely hamper left full of goodies we hadnt expected. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas which was a wonderful surprise and really made the room look extra special. Super comfy beds, pillows duvet etc. Our only problem was it was quite cold despite us turning the heating up. We were absolutely useless at trying to get the log burner going and gave up in the end. We must have been doing something wrong but never having used a log burner before it was very frustrating
Everything in Peacocks Rest has been fitted to the highest standard. The bedrooms have their own bathroom which was a huge advantage to us. The log burner was needed as the heating didnt get to a high enough heat for us. Some more smaller logs were needed, but we managed with the ones we were provided with. The welcome basket along with milk and juice, was a very nice touch..thank you. Whilst the WiFi was good in the first two bedrooms, it didnt reach down to the furthest bedroom, and the smart TV didn't work either so that may need looking at? We didnt try the hot tub as it was a log burner type, we did know this beforehand, but if choosing accommodation again I wouldnt go for this type again because of the length of time it takes to heat and also refill the water too. Parking was fab for 3 cars, and the location to York is amazing. I would recommend this accommodation, but just take into account the hot tub situation.
Thank you for our stay this is lovely accommodation and the owner was very quick to respond to any queries.
We stayed here for 3 nights as a group of 3 couples to meet up. We were so pleased with the property and how spotlessly clean it was. 3 bedrooms all similar in size, 3 bedrooms and 3 parking spaces. The property was so well equipped, we cooked lovely meals here and even found a garlic press! The wood burner was cosy and so easy to use too. The area is quiet and about 25 min drive to York. We visited the railway museum here which is free and would recommend. Lovely cafe and I noticed you can park here all day for 10 and then a short walk into the centre. The welcome pack was a lovely touch with prosecco and other treats. We will definitely return here.
We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back. Beautifully clean. Kitchen is extremely well equipped. Comfortable beds. Having an ensuite in every room was fantastic. We understand why other reviews mentioned the hot tub. It wasn't as convenient as an electric one, but that is explained in the description we had no complaints about it, and enjoyed having it there.
Michael
Great property. We stayed with our 2 married sons, and finding accommodation with 3 double bedrooms all with ensuite is very rare. We arrange a family holiday once a year and this property has to be one of the best we have stayed in. All the bedrooms are nearly identical and good size. The middle bedroom with external doors was great for letting the dog out. It is very well situated for visiting York and within easy driving distance of many attractions walks villages etc.m We didnt use the hot tub as it does require in person attendance with several hours to fill and heat. Would have been nice to spend an evening in but as we were out each day didnt have the time to commit, so didnt really miss it. Used the logs for fire in the lounge instead. The property is kept in a very high standard, and the welcome basket is a nice addition. Great communication from owners. Ps for maintenance the lights & demist buttons on the mirrors in the first 2 ensuites dont work. Might be worth you considering offering hot tub fill and heat for an additional small fee for one day of choice. We would definitely come again if wanting to visit York
Amazing property in immaculate condition and very comfortable Highly recommended
Jordan

Elaine
Peacock's Rest is a lovely property. Very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily return. The park and ride into York was easy to get to and provided good access into the City Centre and it's many attractions. We also visited Castle Howard and Burnby Hall Gardens.
Justine
Fabulous property! Very well equipped and extremely comfortable.
Louise
I cannot praise Peacocks Rest highly enough. Everywhere was immaculately presented & high quality furnishings & decor throughout. Attention to detail was everywhere & myself, my two adult children & sausage dog enjoyed our Christmas break very much. I will be telling all my friends & family about Peacocks Rest. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!
Beautiful cottage, home from home comforts with everything you need, beds were so comfy and we all loved the pillows, we only got to use the hot tub one night as it took a long time to heat up and used a lot of wood, there isn't enough wood given for the hot tub and wood burner for more than one night if you want to use both, but all in all we had a great stay .
Phillip
We had a super stay at peacocks rest. The place was absolutely immaculate when we arrived. We loved the added extras such as the Christmas decorations being put up and the welcome hamper that was left for us. It really felt like a home from home
Lovely property, really good location for york, stayed here for a week just after getting married, only downfall is hottub is time consuming and took me a couple of days to get it warm enough to enjoy, other than that a brilliant place to stay.
Michael
Peacocks rest is a modern property that is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The beds were very comfortable with quality bedding. Fantastic stay.
Pieter
The only recommendation I would make is to use a What3Words reference to find the property whilst we didn't really struggle we find it makes finding anywhere much easier as the accuracy is much more refined than a postcode.
Gwendoline
Lovely clean and comfortable, hot tub was a bonus, we all enjoyed our time ... Lovely clean and comfortable, hot tub was a bonus, we all enjoyed our time together and on suits in each room, slippers and gowns and a lovely Complimentary basket

Joy Helen
Visited early December Xmas tree & fairy lights greeted us on arrival. We had a wonderful stay, great welcome hamper, very peaceful & a good location for travelling around. Property was in good condition, well equipped & extremely comfortable beds & pillows. We knew the hot tub was wood fired as the property description clearly stated this but there were a few comments in the visitor book about it. Id definitely recommend & we would book again.
Debbie
Great weekend stay. Property is definitely worth a visit. Ideally located for a walk into Pocklington or a visit to York. 3 great sized bedrooms , modern shower rooms and a living space big enough for 6 people to chill. Has all the cooking facilities you need and a dishwasher so no time wasted on chores! The welcome hamper was fabulous and a great surprise. Wood based hot tub took time to master and heat up so a small niggle and we'd know next time. We will be back x
Amanda
Absolutely amazing ! 6 of us have just returned after celebrating my 50th birthday at this property. Everything was amazing, from the Hot tub, a superb welcome hamper, comfy beds and plenty of space for relaxing. Would definitely return.
Superb, excellent stay at Peacocks Rest. A well appointed property with the owners leaving a superb welcome pack. Can highly recommend.
The place was perfect, but if some flowers or plants, be them real or artificial, would have been down the side or even near the hot tub, that would have given some colour when sat out. Other than that no problems and would go again.
Shelagh
This property is lovely! It is set in a rural location and the quality of the fittings and furnishings is first class. It's warm and comfortable and the hot tub is a bonus. There's lots to do in the area. I am happy to recommend this property.
Absolutely delighted with our stay in Peacocks Rest. The best cottage weve ever stayed in. Beautifully decorated with so many thoughtful touches. The lovely hamper for us and our dog was a lovely surprise and very welcome. We really enjoyed the hot tub! Situated in a quiet rural lane meant good dog walks. We really liked nearby Pocklington which had all the facilities youd need. It was also a good base from which to explore further afield York, Harrogate, Scarborough as well as beautiful wood and river walks. Thank you for our lovely stay.
Louise
The owners of this beautiful property had thought of everything and the welcome hamper plus other treats that they'd left for us were very much appreciated. We had a really comfortable stay in an excellently maintained property. We were a group consisting of three generations and it was suitable for all of us. The location was ideal for exploring the area. We hope to come and stay again sometime.
Stephanie
Beautiful property, built up to a very high standard. Peaceful setting and perfect for a family reunion!
Rachael
A lovely holiday house. Immaculate and very well equipped. We had a great stay.
Sharon
Amazing stay in Peacock's Rest. Welcome pack was great, including a cake which was such a nice touch. Very spacious. Very clean. Extremely comfortable beds. Everything we needed was in the cottage. Would highly recommend.
This cottage is absolutely beautiful and the owners are incredibly helpful. The design of the cottage is very well thought out with the kitchendiningliving area set up for real comfort for 6 adults and the bedrooms being separated from that space and all having ensuites means 3 couples can enjoy time together and still have their own separate comforts. Everything has been meticulously thought through from the really well kitted out kitchen and the layout to the beautiful decor. The garden is great completely sealed so the dog is safe from escape! and the hot tub is really lovely. Nice quiet setting and a short drive to Pocklington. Couldnt recommend this higher for friends or family wanting a break. Thank you Joanne and Steve
Absolutely lovely cottage. Facilities top drawer and superb array of little gifts left for our arrival. Lovely quiet, rural location and beautifully maintained. Strongly recommended.
