Wheelhouse Reviews

Austin
This was our second year at The Wheelhouse and is probably not going to be the last. Ideally placed for a quiet and relaxing break, all you can hear is birdsong, it is also an easy short drive to many fabulous beaches and towns. The house is very spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, lots of individual seating areas plus a large communal lounge and dining room. A nice enclosed front garden where dogs can roam freely and safely. Totally recommend this holiday property as a base for a family group of up to 810 people. Austin

Enjoyed a family holiday at the wheel house on 28th Oct to 1st Nov 2025. We were celebrating our grand daughters 18th and sons 51st birthdays. Found the property a good location for visiting the moors, ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Not easy to get to, down a long lane but worth it when you arrive. Would highly recommend for a family holiday, the cottage has everything you would need and loved the welcome package .

Lovely property in a secluded setting but still close to lots of attractions. Well equipped and very comfortable. The owners responded with great speed and efficiency when we had a problem with the water. We would recommend to anybody. We hope to return.
Stunning property, we had a fabulous family weekend there. Took our dog and it was safe and secure. Would definitely visit again. 10 out of 10. Perfect location. Very very happy
We had a fabulous time at your beautiful establishment. Gorgeous place in a lovely setting.
This was the cleanest holiday house we have ever stayed in. It was well maintained and contained everything for our needs. We had an issue with the dishwasher and the owner came and fixed it promptly. There are livestock free fields very close for dog walking. It is isolated, being at least 2 miles down a tarmacked track, which in turn leads to a winding lane through hamlets with no shops. So ensure you stock up with basic supplies like milk from the nearest towns. However, I could not fault the house itself
Austin
We had an absolutely fabulous stay! We were 4 couples plus 4 dogs, all family celebrating a honeymoon together and the Wheelhouse provided everything we needed. There was plenty of room and equipment, the kitchen was wonderful and the beds and bathrooms were perfect. We expect to come again, all of us!! Thank you
We appreciated the owners are new, and they went out of their way to make the cottage homely. The plants are a lovely touch. All of our guests said the beds need an upgrade, and also a walk in shower on the ground floor would complete the accessibility. However, we had a very, very happy stay, and the cleanliness was immaculate.
Fantastic property. Ideal for our family to enjoy a lovely weekend away together. Only a few minor issues no lighter for the bbq, no shower in the 2nd double bedroom, intermittent internet, pulling out right of the driveway onto the main road difficult even in a mini, not in walking distance of anything. Even with these issues, I would still thoroughly recommend!
Excellent property in a idyllic location, spotlessly clean. perfect for a family holiday with or without dogs. Woolacombe and ilfracombe just a few miles away.
Immaculately presented and located in a quiet setting. Had nearly all we needed for a family weekend break in North Devon.
