The Barn Reviews

Absolutely amazing house, tastefully decorated, super comfy, cosy and well kitted out with everything you could need! The hosts were super helpful, very friendly, left us a beautiful tasty cake, full hamper of goodies and helped us to arrange taxis and checked the hot tub was to temperature when we were out. Thank you so much for everything you did for us and leaving us the cake and hamper, such a thoughtful and delicious touch! 5 stars, cannot recommend enough, if you are debating booking this, definitely book!
Kathryn
The barn is an amazing holiday home. Absolutely stunning with everything you need included. Tastefully decorated to a very high standard, the bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. The disabled bedroom is very well equipped with a carer sofa bed close by if needed. The property directory is full of all the information you need, everything is considered. The welcome pack is first class. We enjoyed the hot tub, bbq, toasting marshmallows on the firepit, games room, garden and surrounding area too. If you are considering The Barn, you will not be dissapointed. It is fabulous. Our family of 13 had an amazing weekend.
Three generations of us, from 5 years old to 73, had a great stay at The Barn. Children and adults alike enjoyed the games room and the comfy extra TV space in that area. The kitchen had every piece of equipment we could have wanted, with the second fridge and utility space a real bonus. Never before had quite such a generous welcome pack in many years of self catering! Plenty of bedrooms with comfortable beds and robes. Everywhere was very clean. We enjoyed running or walking on paths around the farm, and of course, lazing in the lovely hot tub! We would all be very happy to return.

Just got back from enjoying a double birthday celebration at this property and what a treat. Leon & Louise are both so lovely and always on hand if needed. The property itself is absolutely stunning and i do not feel that the images do it justice, all 11 of us have said we certainly be returning.
We had a great stay at the barn. Louise and Leon could not do enough for us. The facilities were great and thank you so much for the lovely welcome hamper and cake.
We have just come back from a fabulous weekend away staying at the barn for my 40th birthday. The house is simply stunning, we couldnt have asked for a better weekend away. The children especially loved the games room and the hot tub. Leon and Louise were excellent hosts
We stayed a The Barn to celebrate my birthday with family, a party of 11. From the minute we walked in we knew wed hit the jackpot! Its amazing. The quality of the furnishings, pots, pans, bedding, towels etc was first class. The welcome hamper was beautiful, even goodies for the dogs. The balloon display for my birthday was a total surprise and very much appreciated. The communication from Louise before we arrived was dealt with quickly and efficiently, nothing too much trouble. The walks around the farm were great and the information and history folder was very informative. Bathrobes were provided for us all and a basket full of crocs for the hot tubs saved us having to bring any! Its these little touches that make for a great stay. If youre thinking of booking The Barndo it!!!
We had a fabulous Xmas 4 day stay at The Barn with close family and friends. The building is huge and beautifully decorated throughout and a Xmas themed hamper greeted us on arrival with a tray of fresh eggs. The Barn has a well equipped kitchen so preparing and serving a Xmas meal for our guests was a doddle as we had everything we needed to hand. The accessible bedroomwet room on the ground floor accommodated our 87yr old granny and we had ample room to spread out and enjoy the beautiful countryside views from the huge windows on the ground floor or just chill out in front of the TV. Leon and Louise responded promptly to our enquiries, making us feel welcome and at home. A magical Xmas making memories with our nearest and dearest and we would highly recommend if looking for premium accommodation at a decent rate. Thank you for having us Leon and Louise and all the best for 2026.

Our first impression on arriving at The Barn was Wow! ! Beautiful entrance hall lit up with Christmas tree and lights decorating the stairs and landing. Looked amazing. Walking into the livingdining area we were stunned to find a magnificent welcome pack, so thoughtful. The kitchen was so well equipped, we had everything we needed. The Barn delighted in all aspects, plenty of room to spread out. The games room was a huge hit with all and the hot tub was enjoyed by some of my party. Crocs and robes were provided. Upstairs the wow factor continued, bedrooms and bathrooms were excellent. We would highly recommend using The Barn, we were a group of mixed ages, from 68 to 4 , we all had the best weekend. Thank you for having us.
We hired the barn for 3 generations of the family to celebrate a birthday. In short the facilities are superb everything you need to look after yourselves is provided. A big thank you to Louise and Leon for the welcome hamper, cake, bubbly and card. Special mention must be made of the huge farm eggs I had not seen a double yolker in over 50 years, but we had 6. We would highly recommend the venue if you need somewhere to get the family or friends together.
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Barn to celebrate our wedding, and it exceeded every expectation! From the moment I arrived, I was in awe of how charming and beautifully restored the property is. The blend of rustic charm with modern amenities makes it the perfect getaway for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle while still enjoying all the comforts of home. The welcome hamper left for us was an unexpected surprise, really personalised and thoughtful. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need, and the outdoor areas are perfect for sipping coffee in the morning or jumping in the hot tub in the evening. The owners have thought of every detail and were available if we needed. It truly feels like a home away from home. The property is dog friendly and is fenced all round, so you don't have to worry about your four legged friend, when having adventures outside. I also loved how quiet and peaceful the location issuch a serene and tranquil environment. It was the perfect spot to recharge, but also close enough to nearby attractions for easy day trips to Harrogate or York. I took several walks around the property, from the suggested walks in the handy 'things to do' book. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. If you're looking for a unique, peaceful, and unforgettable stay, The Barn is the place to be. I would 100 book again, pictures don't do this property justice. Thank you for letting us stay! Harry & Louise
The Barn is an absolutely fantastic stay. The property is so lovely and the pictures do not do it justice. There was everything we could have wanted even down to toddler crockery and cutlery. Thank you for the amazing welcome basket, touches like this make all the difference. Fabulous home and location. We will definitely be back!
Such a lovely place to stay, had everything we needed and more. We were welcomed with a lovely hamper and a hand written note. The accommodation was well maintained and it had good things that you need, like extra bin bags, cloths etc. plenty of utensils and crockery. The hot tub was maintained every day which was great also. Overall would highly recommend.
Rebecca
The barn was absolutely fantastic from booking right through to leaving although we didn't want to leave. We stayed for my Dad's birthday and the banners and balloons were such a lovely gesture from the hosts. The welcome hamper was gorgeous and the accommodation had absolutely everything we needed. It was dog friendly even with dog bowls available and the courtyard was secure for our dog which was an added bonus! The walks around the farm that it is set in were lovely. We had a fantastic stay all 12 us and would love to go back.
Every year we book a dogfriendly holiday cottage to accommodate the whole family. This year we decided to try The Barn. When we arrived there was a fantastic welcome pack like I have never seen before. The place was clean, light and airy with plenty of living and sleeping space for all of us. Parking was easy, and the garden was secure enough to be able to let our dog out. With the open nature walks just outside our door, the hot tub, games room and a few good pubs within 4 miles, we all had the most natural relaxing break ever. The price also compared well to what I had paid in previous years. Of all the holiday accommodation we have booked over the past 10 years, The Barn is by far the best.
3 words absolutely amazing, breathtaking and stunning, this barn has everything you need under 1 roof. We stayed there as 10 couples and this worked perfectly. I would recommend this barn to anyone that wants a perfect time away to make special memories, this was for my boyfriends 50th birthday it was special in every way, every guest said its out of this world and a magical weekend away. The owner and staff of the barn go above and beyond to make sure their guests, are looked after with the best service & products. Even down to the little touches of having a different animal for each room love it. I would definitely go back. The barn is not to far from York which is a massive plus and so much to do and see around the barn hot tub, games room BBQ etc what more can people ask for. If your thinking of booking dont think to long just get it book. We didnt want to leave. Thank you
Nicola
Everything about our visit here was absolutely perfect, from the house itself to the location and the little extra touch with the basket of goodies and cake to help us celebrate our mum's 60th. We enjoyed a family walk around some of the grounds where we spotted a couple of different birds of prey, including a Goshawk. Then my partner and I bumped into Leo on a night walk to try and catch the sunset and he offered us a ride around the reserve and told us all about his plans to retain the natural beauty and diversity of the ground. I would highly recommend visiting.
Andrew
This property delivers everything it promises and more. Very well equipped. Luxurious and clean. The host was super attentive to any questions we had, and also prepared an amazing welcome gift for our special occasion. The location feels like youre in the middle of nowhere, private and relaxing, although its only 4 miles from Borougbridge. Get it booked now.

Elaine
Good communication from Louise before our stay and we arrived to a very generous welcome hamper with good quality ingredients, even a happy anniversary balloon which we thought was a lovely touch. There were 11 of us and the accommodation provides plenty of crockery, pans, etc. The beds and furniture are very comfortable and good quality. The property was quite warm with it being summer but lots of electric fans are provided. Louise arrived daily to check and maintain the hot tub, this ensures that it is running correctly and it is clean and hygienic, but she does her best to not disturb you whilst doing this. We had a request which was fulfilled very quickly even on a Bank Holiday Monday as the staff live nearby and are there within a few minutes. Any queries are answered promptly if telephoning. Overall we had a brilliant stay and Louise was lovely.
Had a most wonderful family stay in The Barn Yorkshire, the house was amazing with everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack was so generous along with the lovely fresh farm eggs . Thank you for the cake and balloons you left for our 80th and 21st Birthday celebrations , a very thoughtful and touching gift. The family enjoyed the games room with pool, air hockey and table tennis also the swing ball outdoors. The hot tub was enjoyed by those who used it. We enjoyed the BBQ in the wonderful surroundings in glorious weather. If you are thinking to book The Barn for an away break dont hesitate as you would not be disappointed. Many Thanks Marlyn McKenzie
Property was very clean, and spacious. If anything, we felt like the photos did not do the property justice

I would definitely recommend this Barn to anyone thank you for a lovely stay. Also the Fans in EVERY room were very much appreciated during the extremely warm weather! Thank you xxx
We stayed at The Barn at the weekend. The place is stunning and has everything you need for the perfect getaway. It offers so much more than somewhere to stay as a large group. There are many special touches that just elevate the experience further including robes and even crocs for the hot tub! The hot tub is the perfect place to relax after a walk around the nature reserve and the kids particularly enjoyed seeing the horses, goats and sheep on site. On arrival, we were over the moon with the welcome basket. The eggs were delicious and almost every one had a double yolk! The cake was also a lovely treat as we were celebrating a 40th birthday. Leon and Louise were such welcoming and helpful hosts who were simply a pleasure to meet. The Barn is a wonderful holiday home that you should be be immensely proud of. The group enjoyed it so much that we were looking to book a return trip before our weekend was even over! I cannot recommend The Barn highly enough. Thank you for such a special and memorable stay. My advice to others Book The Barn. You will not be disappointed.
