Dairymaid's Cottage Reviews

Overall we enjoyed our stay. but I didnt enjoy the mold on the bottom of the shower tray and the welcome pack was poor. The cleaning pack gave us 3 dishwasher tablets but there was no dishwasher! It just felt that there was no thought given to the guests, we were just on an assembly line of people staying there and it wouldnt have surprised me when we left for the last time that someone shouted NEXT!
The cottage was lovely and comfortable. We managed ok but there were a couple of things that would have improved our stay. When on holiday we like to treat ourselves to a cooked breakfast and there wasnt a grill pan in the oven. The shower tray was slippy potentially dangerous and the doors didnt close fully. It was great to be able to leave the car at the property and walk into Amble and onto the coast path.

Great property ,comfy, clean quiet and a good position for getting around. Internet was a bit iffy sometimes for the tv and kitchen knives could do with sharpening. We had a small hiccup with the ch but that was quickly sorted..
Deborah
Property was comfortable and clean lovely setting for exploring surrounding ... Property was comfortable and clean lovely setting for exploring surrounding areas just write size for two kitchen was well equipped with everything you need would recommend to any one
Cottage description accurate. Lovely quiet location. Thoughtful welcome packs. Decor standard good. Kitchen tidy, well equipped. Downs were bathroom shabby with Black mould in shower and on ceiling, urgent resealing required. Nowhere to dry towels each day if raining, recommend electric towel rail. Recommend SWAP washing mc for Dishwasher. NO vacuum or mop to clean floors, just small broom, no dustpan.
Lovely cottage well equipped throughout. We had to buy a bath mat the shower although excellent was a bit slippy. Quite a rural setting, would be great for walkers. In an excellent position for exploring the area, Seahouses for the farne islands, alnwick Castle, bamburgh castle and amble itself is a lovely village.
Lovely comfortable cottage, easily found and within a fairly comfortable walking distance of the town. All kitchen and bathroom equipment was easy to use and worked perfectly. The patio area was very comfortable though we didnt get the weather to use it very often!
We enjoyed our stay in Dairymaid Cottage. The cottage is comfortable, wellequipped and clean. Our only negatives are the slowness of the Wifi, the staining around the outside of the shower tray and the fact that the whirly washing line needs attention it could not be erected.

First time we have used your company on recommendation of friends. Very easy to manage and well equipped. Instructions for the heating were not too clear until my husband found the cardboard box and instructions in the boiler cupboard in the kitchen, then all worked very well! We chose this area as it was near N.T. Properties we wanted to see, and we managed all these. For April, too the weather was also a plus. We look forward to trying further properties and we would be delighted to return to this property for a further short break, which was much enjoyed, thank you!
Lovely cottage nicely located on the edge of Amble overlooking open fields. It had a clean modern well equipped kitchen, all we could have wished for. The cottage was spacious with a nice patio area and private parking. We intend going back there.
It was very spacious and very clean. We enjoyed our stay immensely. I would recommend to anyone.
The property was very comfortable and suited our needs entirely. The only thing that I feel should be mentioned is that it is currently situated right next door to a large building site. This really would only affect people staying in the warmer weather if they spent any time sitting outside the property. Would it have stopped us going on this trip? The answer to that would be no.
Warm & comfortable but impersonal & lacking any of the usual extras books, maps, local information, personal touches etc. Generic 'Welcome' packs poor, washing up liquid just enough for 2 days but 3 dishwasher tabs for nonexistent dishwasher!! Fridge was not working at all should have been picked up by housekeeper &or owner. NCCC resolved issue but we were without fridge storage for 48 hours milk & a meal lost.
Dairymaid Cottage has been thoughtfully and tastefully presented for holiday lets. Everything is provided and easy to use. We enjoyed the staying there, and appreciated all the comforts. However, there was no indication from Sykes about the building works in the vicinity being actually adjacent to the cottage.. I also asked whether the approach road to the cottage had lighting at night, and was told that it did. In fact the cottage is reached from an unlit junction, into an unlit lane, then to locate an unlit gateway. Neither outside light on the cottage was working. By telephoning the Chester office, we managed to get one swiftly repaired. The main reason why we will not recommend Sykes to anyone is because Customer Support has now been digitalised. This means that one cannot speak to anyone directly, and even my call to Northumbrian Cottages from the cottage about the lights was answered in Chester. Personal contact is essential for tenants when holiday issues need to be discussed, and it is sad that this lets down the good quality of the rest of the operation.
Amanda
The cottage was beautiful The only thing I would suggest is a mirror to help when leaving the property as its very busy with building traffic & there is a blind spot . We nearly had a collision when pulling out onto the road as the wall is very high .
Michael
Lovely quiet cottage attached to a farmhouse. Everything clean and tidy with a modern kitchen Footpath into town a bit overgrown and care must be taken when pulling out onto the lane. A good location for exploring the Northumberland coast. Would certainly stay there again
Had a VERY comfortable week at this property, it has everything needed included and the location is perfect.
Lovely cottage very comfortable . Perfect for a break very central for all the places to visit in Northumberland . Really quiet rural setting. But not far from Amble busy port with many amenities. Would like
Bathroom sink slow running due to dirty hair filled drain, shower was the same. Dusty cobwebs everywhere in the cottage and bathroom skirting boards not cleaned covered in dust. A hoover would be great to clean up sand brought in which being a seaside location is inevitable, brush and dust pan no good for older couples ! Oven not cleaned food bits left in the bottom. Would like more essentials, no one wants to take washing up liquid or toilet rolls on holiday, and what was supplied was insufficient for a week! Cafetire obviously for decoration only as we wasted some of our ground coffee as it just poured out the grounds with the water, had to buy one from Morrisons. WiFi didnt work used up so much data, on phones as it only came on occasionally and even then was poor connection. Rug in sitting room was dirty too, perhaps not the best colour for a holiday let. The cottage is okay but a few small simple changes would easily take it to excellent. Not the best value for money, we stayed in cheaper places in the area with far better facilities and much cleaner.
Andrea
I loved the fact that the owners didn't come to greet us, I find those encounters a little awkward. The cottage was very comfortable and attractive with all the features and services we needed. The peace and quiet was amazing and proximity to Amble brill. A great place to discover or rediscover the wild beauty of the area.
William
Poor layout showertoilet at opposite end of building to bedroom long walk during night . Same problem with kitchen long walk from dining table. Inadequate supply of washing up liquid for 1 week.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful location. Very comfortable and well equipped with quality furnishings. We stayed in the cottage next door last year which led us to rebook. The patio area gets sun nearly all day and makes a lovely spot for an evening drink. Nice local walks in beautiful countryside too.
Jennifer
Although the property was in an idea location for us we felt it lacked a welcome feeling if it was the owner who lived on site we felt a knock on the door just to say hello would have been nice, we also felt it lacked a few basic essentials a pint of milk some liquid hand soap and a toilet roll of better quality would have been appreciated, it was definitely the most basically equipped in that way that we have stayed in over recent years.
On first day of holiday we had 9 of snow in Rotherham so before we set off we telephoned Sykes to see if they could check weather conditions in Amble. The customer service we received from the first lady we spoke to was nothing short of scandalous. Fortunately on ringing back we got a better response.
Beautiful little cottage very comfortable with everything you could need. Handy for Amble which has good facilities. Ticked all the boxes for us
Lovely well finished place with everything you&rsquod need. It&rsquos also situated in a very quiet location and is ideal for costal and country walks.
Lovely cottage, had everything we needed. Furniture all comfortable, very clean & tidy. We had sun all day sat outside, the town was walkable via a footpath at the back of the farm. Would really recommend it.
