Church Farmhouse Reviews

Helena
Very comfortable accommodation suited our three generation family group and pets. Our every need was met. Owners provided lots of information and suggestions about places to visit and where to find good food and drink.
Charlotte
First time visiting the area as a family and received a very warm welcome from both Trevor and Deborah . The cottage was beautiful , cosy and charming . We loved the period features of the property ! We were very lucky with the weather which made our stay even more special . We had a lovely time exploring Somerset and Dorset as a family and with Monty our dog . I brought two beautiful pieces of artwork from Deborah's Art gallery next door as a reminder of our stay .
Jessica
Our stay at Church Farm house was excellent. This is in no small part due to the care and forethought of the owner Deborah. Everything was very well equipped, extras like shower washeswashing up liquid and DW tablets provided something other properties are often missing. There was even a cupboard of essentials to take in case something had been forgotten! We had a minor issue one morning with the hot water, which was sorted almost immediately despite the owner being at the airport at the time. There were lots of recommendations and leaflets of local places to visit, including quieter ones. The house is perfect for a get away with dogs and children, including proving extra poo bags for walks and boardvideo games for every age. The cake and fresh eggs on arrival was a lovely touch. It really felt like everything we needed had been thought of and taken care of. For anyone visiting here we would add recommendations for the Pecorama model train park in Beer and the Otterhead Dairy cafe just 15mins down the road for their fresh pizza, exquisite gelato and phenomenal views.
We had a great holiday. We enjoyed Church Farmhouse very much and it gave us everything we needed. Deborah and Trevor were very responsive, attentive and helpful at all times and their detailed well thoughtout information app is a particularly nice feature which we valued highly. I do remain a little unsettled by the UK market for renting holiday accommodation which often largely reflects longstanding fixtures and furniture. 3.8k for two weeks is no doubt in the centre of the market for August in this admittedly beautiful area of south Somerset but it is a tad ouch for us mortals. Having said that, and as I say above, we did craft a great time and the Church Farmhouse was, of course, very important in that so I need to shrug and accept!.

We loved our stay. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The house was very clean with great facilities. Our daughters loved the runner ducks and getting eggs from the hens. We have already recommended the property to friends.
We have just returned from a long weekend at Church Farmhouse and we wish we could have stayed longer. The house is unique and full of history. Winsham is a beautiful village with plenty of walks from the door. A special mention needs to be made to the lovely owners who were so friendly and helpful, even showing our daughter their bees. We hope to return.
Carina
We had the most amazing time. Cottage was so quaint. Beautiful gardens. Lovely hosts. Will definitely be rebooking in the winter.
Absolutely beautiful cottage and lovely hosts.
We had a wonderful time at Church farmhouse. It was comfortable and cosy after a day exploring the beaches in the area.
Excellent property with everything needed for the week holiday. Very warm and comfortable. Stairs are steep but we were forewarned about this. Owners lovely and helpful on tips for places to visit. Would recommend to others.
Gillian
This is the perfect cottage for a family get together. Plenty of space for everyone, but still has a cosy atmosphere. Extremely well equipped and with lots of extra thoughtful touches. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The village has an excellent community shop where you can get almost anything! Good country walks from your door, even in winter. We cant wait to return.

The church farmhouse was a gorgeous place to stay with a group of friends and my dog. The lounge was always warm and large enough for us all to enjoy for our book club and birthday celebrations, and was beautifully decorated for Christmastime. The kitchen was also a great size, warm from the aga, and wellstocked for all our needs lovely homemade mince pies from the host. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were good. The recommended walks were used every day for my pup, and the local pub has wholesome food served. Would absolutely recommend the church farmhouse!
Christine
Lovely cosy cottage, full of character And equipped with every you need Clean and really comfortable beds. It is in a quiet village. Hosts were very welcoming
The cottage is really cosy, especially the well stocked kitchen with it's warming agar. The beds are super comfy, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Jennifer
This is a beautiful cottage, well equipped. The owners who live next door are very helpful. Well placed to visit the Jurassic Coast.
Barbara
I can not find the words to express how helpful the owners, Trev and Deb were during our stay. They went way beyond the call of duty! We are a Kathakali theatre company from south India on tour of the area and after one of our shows we were caught in the horrific floods and had to spend all night in our minibus trying to get vack to our accommodation. Trev actually set out at 6.00am to try to pick us up but was unable to reach us due to the floods. After 14 hours we finally reached our lovely warm cottage and slept like no tomorrow. The cottage was a joy to stay in, full of character and the log fire in the living room made it even more special. We will never forget the kindness of Trev and Deb and the wonderful stay we had in this delightful cotttage.
We booked Church Farmhouse as an opportunity to get our family together to meet our newest addition to the family baby Charlotte. Church Farmhouse was an ideal choice. Very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Everything for our comfort was thought of. Great local information and guides. Trevor and Deborah, our hosts were very helpful, and we're mines of local information. The grandchildren, granddog and grandcat were well catered for and enjoyed their stay too. The piano in the living room proved a massive hit with our grandson. I hope his efforts were only heard in the Farmhouse!!
Well, what can we say, that hasnt already been said! Deb & Trev are the perfect hosts and everything you could ever possibly need is provided. To be able to relax while away and for our girls
Elaine
What a wonderful place to stay. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and provided everything we needed and more for a week long holiday. All the comforts of home were there and we enjoyed time just being with our family and enjoying the cottage as a home from home. The position was great and we were able to do several days walking on the Jurassic coast during our stay although don't rely on the local bus services! Thank you Deb and Trev for a wonderful week in your lovely home x
We were very happy with the cottage we were four adults and a dog and there ... We were very happy with the cottage we were four adults and a dog and there was ample room for us and certainly the cottage could accommodate 8 people easily It was a great place to base ourselves for the coast, National Trust properties and for dog walking
Jennifer
Church Farmhouse had everything you could possibly need during your holiday. The owners, who live next door left a lovely lemon drizzle cake and fresh eggs from their own hens. The were happy to give suggestions for places to visit or answer any queries. I dont think there is anything they could add to the farmhouse that would have improved our holiday.
A lovely farmhouse, equipped with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful break & more besides. It's beautifully furnished to respect it's age and history and full of home comforts. Perfect for a break with friends. The outdoor space is a real suntrap & perfect for enjoying an evening drink listening to the peace & birdsong. Deb & Trevor, our wonderful hosts next door, were so friendly & welcoming without being intrusive. Loads of walks from the doorstep or a stroll around the village gorgeous church & great community shop. Loads to do in the area. Forde Abbey is very close & stunning! The Dorset coast is only 20 mins drive. We came away feeling totally relaxed & wishing we had stayed a week & not just a weekend! Can't recommend enough & we will be back. Thank you for such a lovely break.
Brilliant stay despite the weather. Cottage was more than we were expecting and well equipped. Deborah and Trevor are extremely welcoming and the younger kids loved meeting the animals. Thank you.
Stephen
We are a family of 6 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs and the venue was just perfect for us! It has all the modern amenities whilst retaining original features of the farmhouse. Very beautiful, spacious and well equipped kitchendining area so we could cook each night with the option of aga or cooker and a goodsized utility with 2nd fridgefreezer so we could stock up. Lovely beaches within 30 minutes so the dogs could run and for us to do some fossil hunting which proved successful!. Even though the weather was awful for our stay, it made it all the better to come back to a cosy living room with the log fire burning whilst we watched a film! The local shop was well stocked and just a 2 minute walk from the farmhouse so we could get eggs and sausages for breakfast plus there was a Lidl and big Tesco 10 minute's drive away. Unfortunately, the pub closed early most days so we did not get a chance to visit. The night before we returned home, we ordered from Dominos Pizza which is only couple miles away and the food arrived very quickly and very hot. The owners are next door and were very friendly, extremely accommodating and helpful pre visit and during and we found their digital guidebook and inhouse guides provided us with all the information we needed. We highly recommend and plan to return in the future.
Excellent property, great character. Nice quiet location with the coast only a short drive away. Has everything you need.. already booked again!
Gillian
Absolutely splendid property. Perfect for a family gettogether, but equally cosy for a couple. Everything you could possibly want is provided, including a delicious homebaked cake! The owners are friendly and helpful. The area is rich in things to do, excellent walks, and places to eat, even in January. We have already rebooked.
Well equipped and beautifully clean and comfortable.
Dennis
The cottage is lovely, perfect for our needs and in a lovely location. The owners were so friendly but not in our faces, so we could relax and enjoy our stay. They have created a beautiful place to unwind and we're so incredibly helpful when we needed it.
Myself and 3 friends stayed at church farmhouse on 10th November for a long weekend, and we wished it was for longer we truly didn't want to leave. From the moment we walked in it was warm and welcoming from the lovely home made lemon drizzle cake and everything you could possibly need and more. It is situated in a lovely peaceful village but a good location for going out and about. The owners Deborah & Trevor live next door and were super welcoming and suggested places to visit and lovely pubs to eat in, but wasn't intrusive. We were sad to leave, but would 100 recommend staying here, and hope to come back to stay again.
My friends and I can back to stay at The Church Farmhouse, after staying there 4 years ago. We loved it that much! The house is amazing! Really cosy, and plenty of space. The kitchen and living room were very spacious. Well definitely be back.
Rebecca
This is the PERFECT place for a cosy cottage trip. I truly couldn't recommend it enough. The location is brilliant, tucked away from everything and everyone with a beautiful walk route right across the road. The house itself is absolutely stunning, theres a lovely big dining table in the kitchen and the living room is cosy yet spacious with a fire to keep you warm. The bedrooms are all adorable with incredibly comfy beds and plenty of extra blankets if needed. Deborah is so lovely and even let us go see the ducks in her garden. There were plenty of snacks and eggs from their chickens put out for us, including an extremely delicious cake! Thank you so much guys The best place to spend my birthday, can't wait to go back again.
Rebecca

WOW! What a wonderful house to stay for your holiday. Apart from being cosy and comfy we have never stayed anywhere so well equipped with everything you could possibly need, home from home definitely. The owners Deborah and Trevor are such a lovely, helpful couple and are very happy to share their knowledge of the area. We only stayed 3 nights and next time we definitely want to stay for longer. We had a wonderful week staying at the cottage. It was a real home from home. We were a family group of eight humans and two dogs. The cottage was spacious, comfortable, tidy and well equipped for all our needs. We appreciated all the interesting information which the hosts provided about the history of the house as well as things to do in the local area. All information was up to date and the personal recommendations were helpful. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, even keeping an eye on the dogs for us when we went out for the day and left them behind at the cottage. We would happily recommend the cottage and the hosts.
Fantastic property with everything you could need. Very friendly and helpful hosts too.
Lovely cottage in great location. Owners next door were very nice, there to help but not to intrude. Easy reach of a lot of tourist attractions. Dog proof garden and good walks around the village.
We had a really lovely family break for my husbands 70th birthday. The farmhouse had everything you could want or need. The owners were fantastic nothing too much trouble, my granddaughter visited the chickens and collected fresh eggs. The dog friendly garden was secure for our two dogs and we made use of the outdoor patio furniture for evenings alfresco. Thanks again for a great stay.
Graham
Wonderful holiday home, could not wish for anything else. Everything was provided. The hosts are both marvellous. The setting is ideal. We will definitely be using this home again in the future
What a lovely place for a family get together to celebrate a 65th birthday ! We loved the cottage itself, as well as the village, and surrounding countryside. Our dogs were made very welcome, and the area is great for dog walking. We appreciated the host's own artwork on the walls, very beautiful. All of us had a very relaxing holiday, and would love to stay again. Thank you for making it for us.
