Black Rock Reviews

Gillian
Great cottage, had everything we needed for a weeks holiday with our dogs discovering cornwall
We had a beautiful chrismas break at the wonderful Black Rock house. The house was bery clean, cosy and perfect for a family of four. We had great fun and really enjoyed the log fired hot tub and log burner. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen excelent. It is so peacfull and after being met on arrival we were left to our own devices by the owners. The surrounding area is also stunning.
Lesley
Beautiful surroundings. Relaxing, clean, calmin
Elizabeth
Black rock was a lovely place to stay for our holiday with an amazing view across the bay. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable. The welcome tray with the cream tea was lovely. The hot tub was great to relax in after a day exploring. It did say in the write up that there was a dvd player and iPod dock and there wasnt. It also said there would be towels and bowls for dogs and there wasnt. This wasnt an issue but it could do with the write up and photos being updated to reflect any changes.
The property was nice and clean. However, there was a broken tile which I thought was quite dangerous and the steps to the garden were not maintained and were tricky for me l, let alone an older person or small child and this was not mentioned on the details. There was no information in the property about bins, keys, recycling etc and no response to my email from owners when I asked which meant that we ended up unsure of what to do. Overall, a lovely house in a great location but it needed a little maintenance and general communication improvements.
Debbie
The property was amazing, inside was immaculate. The garden was quite over grown though
A delightful cottage. Very peacefully. Cottage has glorious views. Perfect place for a romantic get away, or just somewhere to chill and unwind.
Amanda
We had a lovely holiday at Black rock. The accommodation was clean and well appointed and very convenient for visiting the area. I would definitely book again!
Elizabeth
This place is absolutely beautiful from the interior which is immaculate and also really cosy to the exterior with a lovely garden and the added bonus of a hut tub. Its the perfect place for a getaway with the kiddies. The beach isnt far away either which is great. Paul and his wife apologies I didnt get your name are really lovely friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and Im sure well be back again soon.
Andrew
We had a lovely stay and we were blessed by the gorgeous weather. The accommodation was lovely. Had everything we needed apart from a washing machine. Overall fantastic stay.
Great place, super comfortable beds, everything you could need in the cottage. Fantastic views . Only down side was hot tub is wood burning which took a bit of getting used to and used a large amount of wood. But it was February.
A lovely relaxing break in a very comfortable cottage. The owners were friendly and helpful, a big thank you for the lovely cream tea on arrival, much appreciated. Would definitely recommend to friends. The cottage is within easy reach of beaches and attractions. Look forward to a return visit.
Michael
The guttering above the front door needs repairing, as rain water soaks anyone trying to open the door. If it freezes this could lead to an injury. Pigeons nesting under the solar panels woke us up early in the morning. The only downside was that the dividing door between the two cottages needs to be more sound proofed, as we could clearly hear the family in adjoining cottage. Otherwise the cottage was warm and welcoming. the cream tea left out for us was a very nice touch.
Oven gloves would have been nice. Light's around hot tub not working and being November dark early
Had a lovely time in black rock will definitely be returning again in the ... Had a lovely time in black rock will definitely be returning again in the future, Paul the owner is a lovely man we had plenty of wood when ever we wanted for the blog burner and the hot tub, the hot tub was warm on arrival and had a lovely welcoming cream tea which we enjoyed the cottage is beautiful and very clean would highly recommend

The property was just like home from home with every little detail thought of . Thank you for the welcome Cornish cream tea already on the tray Lovely touch .spotlessly clean comfy beds with feather pillows secure garden for our doggies & bonus of a hot tub with outside lights . Loved it so much already booked it for next year . Thank you
Just returned from staying at Black Rock, it was a perfect place to explore Cornwall. The cottage is spacious and well equipped. The beds are really comfortable and have quality bedding. The hot tub was a great addition to enjoy after sight seeing. When we arrived the hot tub was warmed and a Cornish cream tea welcomed us after a long travel which was really thoughtful. We loved staying here and we will most definitely be returning to Cornwall and Black rock. Thank you for such a great stay.
The property is in a great location to get out and about. We went from the south to the north coast with ease compared to other locations weve stayed in the past. The owner was on hand if needed. We enjoyed the enclosed rear garden and private hot tub. The cottage is situated in a lovely quiet spot with plenty of space to park. We made good use of the kitchen to cook some meals but also ate out each day. The cottage is fairly well equipped but doesnt have a washing machine or a hoover. To be fair there is only a small amount of carpet but Id have happily vacuumed before we left. Its a great location and we had a lovely time. Thank you.
Stacey
Back from a lovely weeks stay. We were welcomed by the owner and generous scones and cream tea. The cottage was charming with an airy feel and extremely comfortable beds! The kids loved the novelty of sleeping upstairs whilst we were downstairs and having their own ensuite. We were asked if we wanted the hottub on for our arrival and then were told it would be the next day but we didn't mind. The hottub was also not woodfired and was in an outbuilding which was a bit of a let down as the scenery and views are spectacular, but, the children enjoyed it. 'Blackrock' was the cottage next door and we stayed in 'Leghorn' on the end. The garden is a little suntrap for early evening lounges we brought our own picnic blankets. We got to meet the resident, freerange goat who is rather a character. So quiet apart from the sounds of nature and livestock. Our favourite goto was Charlestown which we well recommend along with The Eden Project.

Black Rock was lovely, beautiful views, enclosed private garden with log burning hot tub, large parking area. Inside the property was clean and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The the property was ideal as a base for our holiday. Lovely views. Very clean and well equipped. The only disappointment was the hot tub. It took too long to heat up in fact we didn't get it warmer than a luke warm bath and didn't like the smell of smoke.
We had the most comfortable and relaxing week at Black Rock. The furnishings and contents of the cottage were of the highest standard, we especially appreciated the comfy beds. The hot tub was a must after a long day at the Eden Project. We would love to return some day.
Debbie
A great position for travelling around Cornwall to view was stunning at the front with sea views think there should be more comfortable sitting so you can enjoy, was comfortable inside but little things let it down no oven gloves ! ! Would have been nice to have coffee I think instead of shop bought scones coffee would have been better also maybe some baskets downstairs to put shoes in would have been good too, but we had a great stay and the weather was kind
Samuel
1110 rating! Extremely grateful to have spent the week celebrating our honeymoon and our daughters 1st birthday in such a lovely house & area! Definitely worth the 6 and a half hour drive! My wife is a huge lover of farm animals and it was brilliant to have been able to say good morning to the cows every day with our daughter. The house was immaculate, a stunning view looking out to the coast and no noise around. Only little point to make was we didnt buy sauces or cooking spray when we did our shop as presumed they might have been in a cupboard but that was the only tiny snag we had all week. 110 will be booking again. Thank you so much!
Hayley
A lovely modern property in a good location. Absolutely loved it here and would highly recommend! Stunning views and quiet location, lovely owners and cream tea was a welcomed bonus! Thank you so much for a lovely week!
Elizabeth
Beautiful accommodation, great location with amazing views! Was disappointed that despite paying to have our dog join us for an additional cost, we were notified on arrival that they could not be left unattended at any time, this did mean we couldnt go out for an hour or so for a meal or drink without the dog. This should have been more clearly communicated. The dog was not allowed upstairs, which was of course completely understandable but when the gate was left open by mistake and made the bed sheet dirty, we were unable to clean the bedding as there wasnt the washing machine advertised. We were then billed 28 for a single bed sheet without notice. These two things contributed to a very disappointing experience in the end.
Superb stay quality of fixtures and fittings very high. Only things we would have liked istoilet brush, dust pan and brush for downstairs and some instructions on how best to light log burning hot tub although im sure Paul would have helped if we had asked as he was avery nice chap.
Stephanie
Really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable modern converted barn. The house had everything you needed, a comfortable night's sleep and enough room for a family of four to not feel cooped up. The hot tub was definitely a bonus as the kids enjoyed going in after a day out. Lovely views of the sea too!
Alison
We stayed in Black Rock first week of December. Had a fantastic week the property was clean comfortable and very cosy. Views were spectacular was a delight to wake up every morning. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Charlotte
Lovely stay and welcoming, helpful owners. Clean, comfortable, furnishings, bedding etc all to high standard. Great views , quiet and relaxing but great location for exploring Cornwall. Dog friendly he enjoyed it as much as we did.
Natalie
What a gem of a find. Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Everything you could need and the hot fired hot tub really made it a special place.
Lovely cottage, beautiful view. After 9 hours travel having the hot tub lit ready for us to use when we arrived was great. Forgot how many hills and narrow the roads are especially when Google took us cross country without permission! Thank you for the complimentary cream tea. We visited Restomel, St Mawes and Tintagel Castles and Pastow. Fab Fantastic view from the front door.
Brilliant stay lovely spacious clean cottage. Nice welcoming cream tea and hot tub ready to use .eden project was 20 min walk thanks to owner telling us about route .only 1 issue would like info on hot tub but we figured it out need to get some kindle to get it going big logs kept putting it out .also would be good to have a few leaflets or guest book to find out places to go and eating out .
A delightful property. Greeted by a Cornish cream tea and hot tub fired up. Views of the sea from the living room worth going for alone. Comfortable settees and very comfortable beds. Enclosed garden safe for dog. We had a very contented time here. And will be back!
Phillip
We really enjoyed our stay here, a lovy cream tea welcome with the hot tub lit. We'll situated for the Eden project and thank you Paul for the tip re visiting Eden, it saved a few pennies. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
Alison
Very spacious property. Extremely clean and comfortable. All furniture, appliances, crockery etc of high quality. Lovely cream tea ready for us to have at the property on arrival is a lovely touch. Enclosed back garden so the dogs were safe. Hot tub was great every night once we worked it out. Just dont put too much wood in there or it gets too hot. Property in very quiet surroundings . 20 minute walk to the Eden project or 5 minutes in the car. If you are a runner would definitely recommend going down there to do the parkrun on Saturday morning as you get to stay in the Eden project for free and its so worth the visit . Would definitely recommend staying at Blackrock because of how comfortable and spacious it is and in a great location for exploring the Cornish coast
Absolutely loved the cottage, everything there you need and a fantastic view across the bay from the front, Hot tub was nice to get into to warm us up after the cold walks on the beach, and the hosts were there when you needed them, will definitely be back. Thanks Keith & Belinda
Kimberley
The property is perfect & the views are amazing. Paul was a great host
Katrina
A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Very clean place. We thought the scone and jam ect was a lovely touch which we fully enjoyed while there. The owners left us to enjoy our time there but was also contactable should we of needed them. We will hopefully be returning again soon as we loved it so much. We didnt want to come home.
We had a lovely time at the cottage. It was very comfortable everything that you would need was there. The owners friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Would definitely recommend. We will be back again.
