The Linhay Reviews

The Linhay is an excellent house for a family get together. There was ample kitchen equipment and the welcome goodies much appreciated. The house is well presented and clean. The hot tub and sauna were cleaned and maintained daily and popular with the family even on cold days. Sarah our hostess was very helpful and ready to respond to questions. The house is as described in the information with two bedrooms one side of the property and two at the other. This was ideal for us but should be borne in mind when thinking about sleeping arrangements. We would definitely recommend this property to those seeking accommodation for extended families.
Absolutely beautiful property. Great facilities. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Good engagement with the hosts. Would absolutely return.
Even better than the description and photos this is a well designed property with thoughtfully organised equipment and facilities. Inside is spacious and comfortable, the outside areas had pots of geraniums and hydrangeas providing colour. The outdoor raised seating area with heavy glass gate and 'fence' was just right for drinks and snacks while the huge dining table was enjoyed for breakfast and lunch even in October. So much more but suffice it to say thank you for everything.
An excellent property to relax for a larger group of family or friends. Spacious, well appointed and the best equipped kitchen I have experienced in a rental property. The hot tub, sauna, games room and outdoor furniture and games were all used and appreciated. Communication with the host was friendly and efficient. Would certainly return to and would not hesitate to recommend.
A wonderful house with everything you needed to have an enjoyable holiday. The house was spotlessly clean with more than enough seating for all. The hot tub was used almost immediately by some of the party members to relax after their long drive! And in fact was used nearly everyday. The adjacent field to the house was an excellent location for dog exercise and for a two year old grandson to ride his balance bike to burn off excess energy. Overall an excellent base for all the day trips you may plan.
Property and facilities are excellent. We had a brilliant stay and will definitely be returning. Think an air fryer would be a good addition to the kitchen.
Sharon
Very well equipped and comfortable lovely outside areas. A large property plenty of room for larger parties to spread out and do their own thing.hot tub and sauna is a lovely touch plenty of outside games to play and a secure garden so the little ones cant escape.overall a really good stress free week definitely would recommend for family get togethers .

Absolutely beautiful cottage, would highly recommend, had a few issues with ... Absolutely beautiful cottage, would highly recommend, had a few issues with sauna and hot tub but the owner came straight away, which made us so comfortable and would definitely book this again
Barbara
Very squeaky floors upstairs. Plumbing very noisy.
Superb property ,with great facilities ,if you have a dog I would highly recommend this property as the property has a secure meadow which our dog really appreciated. The linhay has large comfortable rooms ,living room is well equipped and comfortable ,all bedrooms are spacious and have really comfortable beds and an suite facilities . Kitchen is modern and like new and also a laundry room ,there are two fridge freezers s so good storage is no problem The garden is exceptional, big Jacuzzi and a sauna coin operated but only cost us 5 for the week ,table tennis and a giant chess board that we got a lot of use out of . We parked three cars off road and securely The people who manage the facilities are attentive without being intrusive and are always available to give advice or sort out any problems . We had 6 adults ,a 10 month old ,2 under 10s and a dog and there was no issue with space ,the property is well appointed and there are plenty of places to visit with North Devon an hour plus drive away ,so we had a day at ilfracombe. Would not hesitate to recommend this property . Only one issue ...the floorboards are very squeaky but that is it .
Annette
Fantastic property and facilities. Couldn't have asked for more. We had a truly amazing weekend. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, as well as the milk in the fridge very thoughtful. We took advantage of the suggested places to visit. The Torre Cider Farm, Luttrell Arms and Dunster Castle were all excellent. Just wish we could have stayed longer to take in more trips. We will be back. Thank you.
Catherine
Lovely property as described, great location for the coast and countryside, only downside is the busy road which is loud if you're in the two front bedrooms, we had ear plugs which were a great help and really were needed. Other than that no complaints and everything is there that was needed for a lovely time.
What a fantastic house in an idyllic location. Everything we needed including baby equipment was there. There were 8 adults and a baby and we all had sufficient space. Definitely recommend The Linhay and would not hesitate to book again
Lovely property one of the best we have stayed in. Brilliant layout and secure garden for the dogs. Field through the gate provided a great space to exercise the dogs. Hot tub was checked regularly throughout our stay. Fantastically clean and well appointed pool table had all of the balls unlike other places we have stayed table tennis equipment also provided unlike other cottages. There is road noise but this is made clear in the description so if it bothers you dont book! Great property and a great holiday. To note nothing gets left food wise from previous guests. No helpful pot of sugar, pepper, bit of cooking oil or a few spices in the cupboard as in every other property we have visited. There was no dish cloth or scouring device for scrubbing the grill and BBQ so make sure you take these.
Melanie
The Linhay is a beautiful spacious house . It had everything we needed and more. The situation of the Linhay is perfect and so close to lovely beaches and attractions . We had a wonderful family holiday and would highly recommend the Linhay

Barbara
Beautiful home, had a fabulous holiday. If I had to make a comment it would be the floorboards! Seriously noisy! Maybe new blinds in the master bedroom too. Other than that it is 100!
A perfect Christmas getaway for our families providing relaxation, space and everything you could want in a lovely environment. The house is fully equipped we cooked Christmas dinner for 8 and were not short of anything fridges, freezers, oven and all the crockery and utensils. Fantastic. Lovely big rooms throughout the property as well as a great games room with a pool table. Outside, the hot tub and sauna provides another space to chill out during the day or under the stars. Walk from the house alongside the steam railway line to the seaside town of Watchett. Overall we were kept updated by the owners and nothing was a problem. Thank you.
We went for an extended weekend mid December, 3 couples and a teenager. Lovely cottage, facilities were excellent. Each bedroom having an ensuite was a real bonus. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic house Has everything you need in the house Great pool table, hot tub ... Fantastic house Has everything you need in the house Great pool table, hot tub and nice looking sauna Very clean and tidy large comfortable beds Plenty of places of interest and pubs near by Would recommend and go back there again Many thanks
Nicola
We had a fabulous time, the children loved the table tennis, games room and outdoor space while the adults preferred the hot tub and sauna. The house was clean, well equipped and a perfect setup for a couple of family's as it has 2 staircases providing separate wings. Plenty of space both inside and out so the whole family could sit and eat or just chill out together. No one was ready to leave and we all could have welcomed another week at the property. The only contructive criticism from our party was that the blinds in the master bedroom could perhaps be replaced as they have seen better days and let a lot of light in but on saying that on darker mornings it may not be a problem. Great communication from the owners and a speedy return of the house bond. Thank you very much for a lovely holiday.
Had a lovely stay the Linhay which was perfect for our family. The bedrooms were super comfortable, spacious and having an ensuite in each room was great. The house is lovely, well equipped which was great as we spent all our time there and we made full use of the kitchen and dining area. The owner was just a message away & was very helpful. We enjoyed the hot tub, ping pong, sauna, pool table & garden area, in fact we didnt want to leave! The only downside I would say is the noise from the traffic which can be heard in the front 2 bedrooms. It was very warm whilst we were there so had the skylights open, with these shut you probably wouldnt hear the noise.
We were a party of 6 adults with two dogs. The property is a fabulous size and is convenient for Washford, Watchet and Minehead. The steam railway stop is close by and was very popular with our group. The listing is accurate and they do advise of road noise the road is very busy and the noise is heard most in two of the bedrooms plus the kitchen. Positives.. Size of rooms all are excellent even the twin has its own shower. Plenty of wardrobe space. Outdoor space excellent and enclosed so safe for children and pets. The field area for the dogs was really appreciated. Outdoor seating. plentiful and comfortable. Outdoor facilities hot tub, chess, table tennis , sauna hot tub used regularly, table tennis very good too although we did have to buy ping pong balls to play. Perhaps leave a few in the house for the inevitable loss of some in play? Parkingplenty of room for 3 cars and even though the larger property on the same site was occupied there was no issue getting in or out. Indoor facilities games room was a bonus and was used by the group. Large tv and games provided for evenings.Plenty of seating in the living room so all could sit together and the double doors out to the garden were good in the hot weather. Kitchen was big enough to cook for a big group. Communication easy to speak with Sarah and she advised us by phone that the property was ready to occupy ahead of the stated time.. we really appreciated this.. thank you. Housekeeping bond returned quickly. Just a few niggles in the negatives Quality of decor felt a little tired and could benefit from a repaint. Shower in double bedroom needs attention coming away from wall? Barbecue appreciated the starter fuel but no tools to use it.. very difficult using ordinary kitchen tools. Blinds all stated that the blinds should really be blackout on the velux windows as although we loved the beautiful sunshine we wanted a lie in on holiday. Curtains required for the large , garden facing bedroom please. Washing line and pegs couldnt find any. There is an excellent washing machine and a dryer so not a real issue but would have appreciated being able to put washing outside to dry. Internet provided but the strength is not adequate for the size of the property.. perhaps a few boosters ? We all loved our time in this property and the positives far outweigh the niggles. Beautiful part of the country too.
A really lovely property well designed, attractive and comfortable. Well equipped but a pair of kitchen scissors would have been useful and some table or floor lamps in the sitting room. The adjacent field was a big bonus for the dogs, especially as it had been mown so we could play ball with them there. The A39 was the only downside to staying there. The road was very busy and as the Linhay was close to a bend it was dodgy to walk along the main road. We were disappointed to find that the pub and shop within 5 minutes walk had both closed down. Had a great stay though and would recommend the property.
Stewart
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Linhays. The house and facilities lived up to expectation, and Sarah the owner is lovely. We hope to come back again.
Natalie
Beautiful comfortable house. It was perfect in every way. The scenery is beautiful, the beds were SO comfortable, and to have the luxury of a sauna and hot tub in the garden, we didn't want to leave. The hosts were incredibly friendly, we will definitely be going back
Katrina
I hired this property for a long weekend for a group of 9 adults and it was gorgeous. The whole property is beautifully presented, it was spotless and the bed was so comfy! The owner was on hand for any queries I had prior to the stay and was very helpful. The hot tub was definitely a group favourite! There was also a lovely welcome hamper which was a nice touch. I would highly recommend this property and if we ever have another trip to the area it will be top of the list again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Alison
The Linhay was a perfect choice for our family gathering with plenty of space and good facilities. The owner was communicative and answered our questions quickly. The house was warm and clean on arrival and there was a welcome hamper of local goods. We enjoyed the hot tub checked daily and the sauna which heated up for 1 within the hour after that it just ticks along as you top up. 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms was key for us and the beds were very comfortable and the linen good quality. The sitting room was spacious enough for all to sit and even dance and the log burner was lit and enjoyed. The extra fridge in the utility room was handy. The White Horse pub at the other end of Washford less than 5 minutes by car had a welcoming team, open fire, large riverside beer garden and served good home cooked food. We would also recommend Exmoor Distillery for a tour and tasting need to book for both. All in all, this was a great choice for our family holiday and we would stay again. Thank you!
Lovely cottage and ideal size for our group Thanks again to to Sarah and Hannah
Elizabeth
What a truly wonderful stay we had over the New Year period. We were a party of 7 adults and 2 dogs and this cottage was perfect for us. Really secure garden so didn't have to worry about the dogs if they were outside, the garden also had a gate that led directly into the field which was perfect for the dogs to run around in. Kitchen very well stocked with cutlery, glasses, crockery etc. The hot tub and sauna were both used and were thoroughly enjoyed. Beds were really comfortable. Just a couple of things to note, not that these will stop us from looking to return There are two internal steps in the property leading from the kitchen to the dining room and lounge, not sure if this was listed in the property description. The floor boards upstairs on one side of the property are very noisy. Lastly, not sure if I would recommend to people who are wanting plenty of walks from the property. There is a local pub about a 10 minute walk but there are no paths along the busy main road so we personally didn't feel comfortable walking the dogs down here, neither would we if we travelled with children. But with that being said Exmoor and Quantok Hills are a 20 minute drive away so you're not far from some walks. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our break and would very much love to return one day.
When we have stayed at other places you normally have a book with important information in. Unfortunately we couldnt find anything and felt we had to disturb the owners a couple of times, where as normally we dont need to as all info is there. One other thing we did find the checkout time to be extremely early. Its normally about 1010.30. But I must say apart from that we had a lovely stay in your beautiful Linhay and I would highly recommend it. Thank you for a much needed break. Linda x
This is a lovely house for a family holiday with plenty to keep everyone busy with games and hot tub. The area also has plenty to offer just a pity that no visitors book to put comments about different places and eateries guess due to covid and keeping the infection away. We did have a problem with very full rubbish bins when we arrived but soon rectified after a phone call. Many thanks for the welcome pack which was enjoyed by all.
Victor
Fantastic holiday home only problem were the creaking floor boards on the upper level. They were so bad it disturbed you nights sleep very very noisy
Michaella
We had a wonderful week at the Linhay. The house is so spacious and very clean. All bedrooms are a great size and beds were comfy too, we requested a cot which was stored away in the wardrobe, again this was perfect for our little one. There were 2 high chairs available along with 2 stair gates. Large kitchen with all necessary utensils in and 2 large dining tables indoor and out The Linhay is a short drive to the beach and other local towns to explore however there is more than enough to keep you busy within the property. As a family we certainly spent a lot of time playing table tennis, chess and relaxing in the hot tub! This review could go on and on, there were no negatives for us at any point throughout our stay. We would definitely return here in the future.
Nicola
Main bedroom could do with blackout blinds and the floor in the main bedroom and landing very creaky . Otherwise we had a fabulous stay and it was a lovely place to stay and close to many towns and villages
The property was exceptional and in great location. It was nice to stay somewhere that is local to places to visit. The hot tub and sauna was well used by all. The house was comfortable and clean. The field out the back of the property was great for the dogs to stretch their legs in the mornings. I would highly recommend this place to anyone .Although the property is close to the road the noise wasn't an issue. If i was to stay in the area again i would certainly use Linhay.
Denise
First lots of positives. Easy parking, very spacious, superbly well equipped for a larger group. Hot tub, sauna, giant chess, pool table, lovely grass paddock, kids play equipment, BBQ and giant chess board. Plenty of outside seating. Secure, super dog safe. Copious hot water and a really nice building. welcome hamper an unexpected bonus. communications with owner very good. Full laundry facilities. Cot, stair gates, airers, mood lighting. Lots going for this location The negatives. The lounge fabric sofas were very stained and the support is gone. Some of the mattresses are in need of replacement and very lumpy. Some Duvets clumped and need regent replacement. Some general maintenance required in kitchen and handrails on stairs.
We hadagreat week here at theLinhay , itwas perfect for our week of relaxation , having the hot tub , Sauna and The field to run the dogs in was Brilliant . Hannah was fab , nothing too much trouble for her , even jumping fences to check on sheep in the field
