The Oaks Reviews

Absolutely beautiful location , and home , the house has everything you need for a fantastic stay, it is perfect for a big group with so much room and the bonus , we all had our own bathrooms, such comfort our lovely hosts , who are always there if needed do an amazing job at keeping the standards five star . Thank you for the welcome pack , the cake was delicious. We all have no hesitation in recommending this property .
Had a great visit to The Oaks with all the family coming together. Great space, as described and lovely to have cakes ,milk and fizz to help us settle in. The host was great, coming to help us settle in and answer any questions we might have. Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway with great views and accessby car to many lovely locations around or walks in the locality.
Samantha

Cheryl
The property was amazing, everything we wanted, spacious, comfortable, spotless and the views were stunning. A beautiful and fabulous place to stay
Gwenda
All aspects of the holiday were fabulous. Great location. Very well equipped. Comfortable beds. Lots of bathrooms. Friendly, helpful and informative owners. Highly recommend. Thank you
We were upgraded to Manor House which was very generous. On arrival there were some maintenance issues, hallway bulb was gone and outside light had been disconnected due to ongoing work. The owners did source a bulb however having no outside light was not ideal especially with it getting so dark early. All bedrooms were spacious and both the family room and kitchen comfortable so we could all sit together. The grounds of the property are lovely and it is very peaceful meaning it was the perfect place to relax. The house info contains details of a lady who lives on the farm who offers gator card readings. 3 of us did this and we found it very interesting, plus Nikki was a lovely lady. Reviews for the property states that the pub is a 10 minute walk away, this is more like a 20 minute walk and either across fields or down small lanes where it would be difficult to avoid oncoming traffic. Overall we enjoyed our stay
We actually had an upgrade to the barn and couldnt ask for more. The location was just outstanding. So peaceful with breathtaking views. Jane the owner was lovely and made you feel very welcome including delicious cakes and bubbly in the fridge. Will definitely recommend this place. 5 stars Jill

Lovely position, excellent hosts, views superb. Not often you can find 4 spacious bedrooms with 4 excellent bathrooms. If thongs work out we would return.
Great stay in a lovely area. Hosts were great and the welcome cake and Prosecco was a lovely touch
Douglas
Lovely property that is spacious and very well presented and equipped. Even cakes and fizz on arrival. Will visit again.
Overall excellent . clean comfortable large rooms family friendly. the owners could not do enough for us. home made cakes and a bottle of fizz left for us were very welcome.
The process was easy and slick, communication was great. The Oaks is in a fabulous location, and easy to find with the owners directions provided. The facilities are great, big rooms and plenty of bathrooms! The kitchen is kitted out with everything we needed, plenty of big comfy sofas and a huge table for big family meals... perfect! The hosts even left us some cakes and milk for our arrival! It wasn't an issue for us, but don't expect a phone signal or Internet.... prefect for switching off and relaxing! I would definitely return!
Photos really don't do this place justice, would highly recommend. Lovely relaxing comfortable accommodation in a stunning location, really well equipped and plenty of space. Theres plenty of places to visit in surrounding areas, and a great local pub. Ideal for big groups. Extremely friendly and obliging host, left a lovely welcome pack for our arrival, and duck food to feed the daily visiting ducks.

We were a large family group staying also at The Barn which was close by in the same development. We had a great holiday and both properties were very good. We notably enjoyed fantastic sunsets from the Oaks garden. Ellesmere the nearby town is highly recommended. Jane was a great host .
Caroline
Absolutely fantastic cottage! Host couple adorable and very friendly and helpful. Perfect place for a family get together. Spacious, tidy and great surroundings! Amazing sunsets and great with a working farm! If anything could be improved it would be more garden seatings for dinners and perhaps bigger and newer frying pans. We were 10 persons and cooking dinner would be easier with the small improvement above. We would definitely recommend this place and hope we have the opportunity to return soon again!
Victoria
Wonderful week stay at the Oaks. Great house for a multi generational holiday. Facilities were excellent. We found the location to be brilliant for exploring Shropshire. Would stay again!
Keiran
We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Oaks. The accommodation was excellent very spacious, open plan and perfect for a gathering of two families with small kids. Big rooms, all utensils and facilities we needed. The photo's of the views on the listing do not do the property justice with far reaching views and great sunsets to be enjoyed. The outdoor space is great. Close by is The Mere at Ellesmere 10 min drive, and its nice place for a walk with boat hire and close to the shops. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, the host was excellent and we'd love to return!
This was my first time visiting Shropshire and it was fantastic. We stayed at The Oaks in Cockshutt and what we have been spoilt. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. Our host Jane even made us welcome cakes and a lovely bottle of Prosecco was chilling in the fridge. Jane is an amazing host and will do anything to make your stay relaxing and comfortable. I look forward to visiting again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Oaks, the property was lovely with plenty of space for the 8 of us. The owners were helpful and keen to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. We are a family who enjoy cooking meals when we stay away in self catering accommodation and wondered what was the basic requirement you expect owners to provide. We were surprised to find only one large saucepan and no casserole dish we suggest you may wish to review your requirements
The property is lovely and perfect for group holidays! Would definitely recommend to anyone! The owner is friendly and happy to help with anything. Just like a home away from home.
A great holiday home. The beds are comfortable and it is very well equipped. The hosts quickly attended to a small adjustment of the heating schedule. We would book again without hesitation.
We had a wonderful time and were made to feel very welcome. A great place to stay, very spacious and comfortable.
Brenda
Wonderful accommodation in a great setting. The owners were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely family holiday. Thank you Jane and Andrew.
Lesley
A beautiful part of the world, the owners Jane and Andrew made our stay a most enjoyable one. The converted barn was lovely and spacious in an idyllic setting. a 10 minute drive to Ellesmere and close to North Wales made this a perfect location for us.
We had such an amazing holiday! Beautiful location with stunning sunsets in the evening. Lovely house with everything we needed. The owners were so lovely and kind, leaving us Prosecco in the fridge and fresh cake for our arrival! Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Lovely cottage. Really enjoyed our short break.
The Oaks is an excellent venue for a three generation family holiday. We appreciated the spacious accommodation both inside and outside the property and there is plenty of space for children to play. The home made cakes on arrival were a real treat. The Oaks has a wonderful rural location with spectacular views and was the perfect base to explore the area.
Wonderfully welcoming hosts and breathtakingly beautiful views. A fantastic base for our holiday. We will definitely be staying again.
Catherine
Great views, great hosts, great location. Even a pandemic didn't spoilt this for us. Thank you for letting another 4 walls feel so attractive!
Olivia
Place was lovely and clean upon our arrival. Views a stunning and place is well equipped with outside furniture and cooking utensils. Only one fridge so if there are 10 of you might be squished for space! Owners were lovely and extremely helpful, would definitely recommend!
The Oaks was a lovely place to have a family gathering . The open plan ground floor was ideal and spacious . The view was stunning . Fishing in the ponds was a lovely relaxing extra along with ducks and sheep .
We loved the Oaks. There were 10 of us including our four grandchildren and we found the property was really clean and spacious. With a bathroom to each bedroom we were spoilt. The views over the fields were amazing and we watched the owners harvesting the crop which was interesting and saw a rabbit and a fox running across the fields. The grandchildren really enjoyed the daily visits from the mother duck and her five ducklings. Ellesmere is such a pretty town and the wider area offers plenty of attractions for all the different interests our family has.
Greville
This is up a narrow country lane, with no traffic. Comfortable and spacious inside, there are tracks and grassy spaces for children to run and play on their bikes. Very good views across open countryside and very quiet. We were 6 adults and 4 children. Sleeping arrangements were good, but someone needs to share with kids when you are 10 people, no problem for us. Shropshire is beautiful We enjoyed Ellesmere, Shrewsbury and can highly recommend Hawkstone Park Follies for a kid's adventure day out. None of these cottages are completely perfect, there was a rather noisy water pump under the stairs, but it didn't spoil a great holiday. And we caught a couple of fish!
Stewart
Our party of 10 included our 4 grandchildren aged 12, 10, 7 and 6. It was brilliant for them to be able to have the space and freedom to run around outside but within sight of the property. Wildlife is abundant in the area and it became a daily thing to have a hare which none of them had seen before scampering past the window. Wild mallard were also daily visitors to the garden. We were delighted to find a duck's nest in a flower trough with 16 eggs in it. Needless to say the children wanted to stay until they hatched out. A lovely family holiday.
The property was amazing and was the perfect location for our sewing retreat. The large kitchen island was an ideal work space to cut and measure patterns! The basics of tea, coffee and milk were provided and Jane went the extra mile with homemade cakes on our arrival. She even helped us set up the large dining table extension once she found out we were there to sew! There was there plenty of space for the 5 of us, amazing natural light, beautiful views and it was spotlessly clean. Just note that the pin on the map is wrong. It is the 2nd turn on the left after the Leaking Tap pub, further 0.7 miles down the lane.
Jane, our host, was fantastic! She was so helpful and even made us an array of cakes for our arrival which was so sweet of her! We had a few minor issues with the water but as soon as we told her she was straight over to sort it all out. We were staying for a wedding nearby. It was perfect accommodation.
Well presented barn conversion with stunning views. Spacious and perfect for our family break. We were surprised by how attractive the local area was.. Plenty to keep us entertained for a long weekend.
Ideal place to meet up with friendsfamily and share a quiet weekend. Owners were very friendly and helpful. The open plan downstairs is ideal as 8 of us could be in the same area in comfort without bumping into each other. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms, so privacy not an issue.
