The Barn Reviews

We had a wonderful holiday Jane was very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was superb and suited our family very well. The Barn is set amongst spectacular scenery. We would recommend the property and hope to return.
A very enjoyable week at The Barn. The location was quiet and rural, and the view from the property was beautiful. No issues with parking, cleanliness or space. The facilities were very good, and would be excellent if a full shower could be added to the main bathroom. I would suggest removing the references to the pool table and table football, unless these are due for repairreplacement. For us it was a 15 minute walk to the pub along an unlit, country lane. Thank you for an excellent week's stay.
Excellent! Would definitely recommend! The owners have been very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely book again. Thank you for everything.
The Owner has been wonderful and looked after us, she made sure we had everything we needed. The Barn was lovely and clean and comfortable. Thank you, will definitely book again.
Excellent service and the owner Jane has been very helpful and always available to talk to if there was anything we needed. Thank you
Fantastic property, very spacious and immaculately clean! Courteous host and fantastic grounds. Well equipped and clear instructions for using facilities. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful stay at the Barn for 11 of us, children and adults. The kids loved playing in the huge garden and feeding the ducks by the pond. Lots of space in and around the house. Well resourced kitchen. Short drive to the nearest village, where theres a basic shop and pub with games facilities, pool, darts, game machine. The Mere was a beautiful walk along the lake with a pit stop at the Boathouse pub for some beautiful food. Visited West Midlands safari park 1.5 hour drive but well worth a visit. Definitely recommend. Could do with a bit of TLC and upgrade of mattresses and towels but otherwise comfortable and enjoyable stay.
What a beautiful barn and gorgeous location, spotlessly clean and it exceeded our expectations it has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. 10 women on a 40th get together and can say we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely space to all spend time together without being on top of one another. Nice surprise having fresh cakes and fizz on arrival. Thanks again we all made great memories together.
Lovely welcome, with added extras of homemade cakes and fizz in fridge. Thank you very much indeed. Spacious and clean accommodation. The kitchen diner was fabulous with all the equipment required to feed a family of 12. Location fabulous with beautiful walks and countryside views. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
Such an amazing property! ! We had a great time!
Lovely property set in glorious peaceful location. Big garden for the kids to run around in. Very helpful and attentive owner. Highly recommended.

We were a large family group with some staying at the nearby Oaks property. We had a great stay and Jane was a very attentive and helpful host. The property worked very well for us with the weather allowing full use of the excellent outdoor space. The location is very good , really in the country surrounded by farms yet the lovely town of Ellesmere not far away.
Dorothy
We had a lovely holiday. The barn was a great size lots of room for everyone. Owners very helpful and on site if we needed them. A definite recommend thank you
Alison
We loved staying here it had everything we needed for a family holiday across 3 generations and 3 households. Plenty of parking, all the amenities you would expect dishwasher, freezer, WiFi, washing machine and lots of space for the children to play inside and out. Jane was very helpful whenever we needed to contact her. We used her directions without problem but sent a What3Words to the rest of the family as it is out of the way and the supermarket delivery driver couldn't find it without help! Not much mobile signal though, so used internet calling.
The cottage was extremely well appointed with a fantastic kitchen and bedrooms. We all had an amazing time with such a peaceful and family friendly garden.
Chantal
A lovely property with beautiful grounds. The owners were very nice. the bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed and very clean. However the standard of cleanliness was not the same in the downstairs area. There was dust under the rugs and we had to put mugs in dishwasher before using, to remove coffee and tea marks. The chopping board was orange when we arrivd and clean white after a machine wash.Frying pans could not be used. Had to put tin foil in roasting tins before using. Cooking utensils were insufficient for a large party. Having been to similar properties the kitchen equipment was disappointing, a pity for such a lovely kitchen.. I would recommend that when guests arrive owners do an inspection of the property with guests to avoid queries at the end of the stay.

The barn is an excellent property for a large group, it's spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the quiet location and it is ideally situated for visiting the local tourist sites and attractions.
Gillian
We had a fantastic week at The Barn, a lovely holiday home with so much space. The large garden to the front and side of the property was a pleasant surprise and lovely to sit in with a glass of wine while the ducks from the pond waddled by. Jane had left us cakes and provisions for a cup of tea which was just what we needed when we arrived. Lovely walks around the surrounding area and Ellesmere which was a short drive away had some lovely pubs. We had a lovely meal in the Red Lion pub which held a quiz on the Sunday night, this was great fun and they even made sandwiches for the people playing the quiz who were not having a meal. The barn was spotlessly clean and felt like a home away from home, we certainly didnt want to leave at the end of the week. I would definitely recommend and would like to return in the future.
The Barn is high quality and welllocated just outside Ellesmere and on the Shrewsbury road. The bedrooms are effectively in three wings great for multifamily groups and two of them have excellent en suite bathrooms. The huge kitchen has all you could wish for and the lounge is also large and wellfurnished. There are TV's everywhere. There is a good washing machine but very limited drying facilities not an issue for most people who won't do a wash anyway, but a rotary washing line, a couple more maidens or a tumbler would be good for parties who want or need to do a wash. The garden the size of a small field it is flat and wellgrassed, so wonderful for family games. The adjacent sheep add to the appeal. All in all, a lovely, valueformoney holiday home.
Lovely home. Grounds were gorgeous and lots of space.
Justin
Everything was amazing! Jane was welcoming and friendly. The listing originally said there was a tumble drier which was a problem as there wasn't but Jane offered to do the drying for us! What a star! The house was very big plenty of space for all of us. The rooms are high and spacious. Separate living room and kitchen dining room a massive bonus. Huge garden! It really was wonderful. Loads to do we had varied outings every day for children ages 1 18. We had a different outing each day within 20 mins 30 mins drive. 2 fridges a massive help. Only downside except for no tumble drier was very small freezer space 3 small drawers which for us was a big issue. We stayed for 2 weeks and so brought our own freezer with us! But for most visitors would not be an issue. Not lots of breakables around the house so great for us with small children. Small snooker table good fun a little wonky so not for the professionals but good for children. Tractor rides a bonus and the duck eggs hatched whilst we were there so a treat to see the first few days of the ducklings life! Children said best holiday ever! Thank you Jane and Andrew!
Family and I stayed here for a week to celebrate my 60th birthday. There were 6 children and 6 adults and we had plenty of room. The pictures dont really show how spacious it is. The children loved the big downstairs bedroom which had bunk beds and 2 singles in. The master bedroom is amazing huge bed very comfy. The living room has reclining arm chairs and the whole barn is very comfortable, child friendly and home from home. There is a lovely outside space with ponds ducks and fishing if you have the weather. Jane was on hand to see if we needed anything. Highly recommend and very reasonable. We would definitely return as a family.
Everyone was very happy with the converted barn. It was very comfortable for us all 12. Owners left us a Duck food to feed ducks, a bottle and some cake left for us, thank you. Everything we needed was available, plenty of space and snooker and football table for children. We were able to get in a bit earlier and it was a perfect stay with the extra night on Monday for my parents to relax. Would recommend mending football table and cleaning dishwasher but very minor issues! I feel anyone venturing towards Shrewsbury would love this barn. Thank you for such a fab stay.
Josephine
The accommodation was more than what we expected. We were a group of 9 people and we loved how spacious and so clean the place was. The bedrooms were exceptionally large and suitable for our sleeping arrangements. The owners were very easy to contact and were there to greet us. We were all very happy with our stay and the birthday celebrant was also very impressed and pleased with the accommodation. Thank you.
We all had an amazing time. There was 11 ladies enjoying birthday celebrations. The barn had enough for us all it was comfy warm not far from the shops to get supplies. The scenery was stunning. I dealt with Sue who was so helpful thank you. I would definitely recommend the barn and would definitely come back
Great location lots of rooms for us to spread out great communal areas
We were celebrating a 70th Birthday with family & friends. Generally the barn was really comfortable, warm, spacious & tastefully furnished. The kitchendining area was well equipped and perfect for a large gathering. It was great to have the use of the pool table & football table. The setting was was very picturesque, with lovely views. However for a group of nine adults, the bathroom facilities could be improved, two bedrooms were ensuite, whilst the other two couples & the person downstairs had one bathroom provided, without a proper shower. So to have a shower, there was some queuing in the morning. Also a bit of advice, be careful to keep to the footpaths. We are all experienced & considerate walkers and on the first day a group of us went for a local walk. We followed the footpath signs, but when we got to the last field,we accidentally took a wrong turn, which took us down the edge of a field, we walked in a line in the gully. We were greeted by Jane & reprimanded, we apologised, then shortly afterwards we were told twice by her husband to stick to the footpaths.
Great holiday, and we loved the cottage, it was the perfect size for our families. Only negative was the mattress comfort, consider replacing a couple of them. The owners were very friendly and accommodating and we would consider returning on this basis. Many thanks to them.
Sykes only contact was for payment so has no expectations from them.
Alison
We all had a lovely time in this beautiful barn. The owners made us very welcome with extra touches and everyone was very well provided for. We loved the big farmhouse kitchen with the aga which kept us all cosy. It was well equipped to feed our large family of 11.
Would have been great to have a down stairs shower or bath. lovely people very friendly
Richard
Beautiful barn conversion done to a high standard with all the amenities. Great views and ideal for the whole family. Would highly recommend. Hope to visit again soon.
Jackie
Beautiful well equipped barn, perfect for our family reunion. Lovely accommodation, very welcoming and short driving distance to many different places and lovely walks. Would highly recommend.
Tracey
We had a great time. The kids enjoyed playing hide and seek in the house and playing table football. The adults could relax while the kids entertained themselves. We didn't venture out much as it was a reunion of friends, we were very comfortable staying where we were. A family used the downstairs bedroom and the only criticism is that the double sofa bed wasn't big enough for two adults as it wasn't the size of a double. We made it work tho. Would be perfect as a kids room. We would definitely return to this lovely, spacious barn conversion.
Jane the owner is lovely and helpful. Perfect accommodation for our rabble of 8 adults and 6 kids. Would go back and lots to do within an hours drive.
The owners should consider purchasing proper clothes hangers for the wardrobes instead of a selection of cast offs from shops and dry cleaners. They are very cheap to buy and give a much better impression for very little investment. Otherwise it is a lovely property and the owner was very welcoming and obliging.
Heather
Lovely cottage I did not realise that it was on a farm and that the walk to the pub would be down the farm path then a country road with no lights ! Too dangerous at night to do this however we brought plenty of games and we had a great time socialising and drinking x rooms and bathrooms were fab lovely big dining kitchen ideal for parties x
Raymond
First of its huge. We were two families one of 8 the other of 4 and the Barn was massive. We were able to give the kids there own bedrooms upstairs and Lounge come bedroom downstairs that has a TV etc in it, as well as having our own adult lounge. The kitchen was well laid out roomy and well stocked even had an Aga cooker! The dinner seating was good with the kids siting at the 8 seater table in the kitchen and the adults eating at the dinning table in the adult area!! I have never been in a property with so many toilets, showers etc so there were no problems there either. Having a large family this ticked all the boxes and the children loved here. There is also a huge lawn area outside for the kids to play on. We were also surprised how much there was to do in the wider area of Shropshire with Liverpool to the north, wales to the west and Stafford shire and Drayton Manor kids theme park to the East. Plenty of city sites to see as well as walking and historic sites in Shropshire. We will have to come back again and again to do everything! Jane and Andrew were very helpful and chatty and welcoming. Its a great place really loved it and would have stayed longer if the option was there. Idea for large families or groups. Would defo recommend!!
