Southdown Reviews

A fabulous property quiet location with stunning views, and coped well with 6 adults. From the welcome gift, to lovely decor, friendly host and well kitted out house nothing we could fault and have plans to return later this year as we liked it so much!
Exceptional ! !!! Perfect hosts perfect property in an ideal setting
Robert
We had a lovely stay at this cottage over New Year. The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable and in a great location in Much Wenlock, making it easy to explore the town and surrounding area. The owners were very welcoming and the thoughtful touches on arrival including cake, jam and milk were much appreciated. We felt very at home and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this cottage to others.
Patricia
This is a lovely, comfortable property in a quiet location, and Margaret was very welcoming and attentive. The house was wellequipped and had everything we needed.
Overall it was fine, an enjoyable break in a pleasant place. Lovely spot, great views and adequate facilities. There were a few small things easily fixed. Handles that came off drawers etc. Missing basics like salt and pepper, cling film etc. but there was a basket of cake and crisps ready for us and a small milk in the fridge. The owners were chatty and pleasant. It wasn't very clear till we got there that the property is in a shared space with 3 or 4 other properties which made it a bit busier than we expected and the howling dogs were a bit distressing at times. Some lovely villages and walks to explore in the area. We enjoyed our stay overall.
Eileen
Beautiful scenery with well equipped and spotlessly clean accommodation. The owner was friendly and welcoming.A great base for visiting the local area and we all had a fantastic time. The welcome pack we were given was fantastic with the lemon cake a family favorite.
We had a wonderful stay at Southdown. My children 4 and 2 loved the slides and swing and absolutely adored the cows in the garden! The barn had everything we needed for a comfortable stay kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows, loads of towels, lots of space across the barn for our family, and the shampoos and a hairdryer were particular useful. There was also a very thoughtful welcome basket when we arrived with milk, cakes and treats for the kids, and other lovely things from the on site farm shop which sells lovely gifts as well. The farm is quiet and peaceful and set in the most beautiful countryside lovely view from the lounge! We would love to come back!
Georgia
Great family cottage, location was perfect the hamper provided was just fantastic. The host was very friendly and great with the kids. We were a family of four with young kids, we went into Church Stretton for walks then came back to the farm and relaxed everynight. The kids loved watching the animals, and playing on the playground. Highly recommend.
Beverley
We absolutely loved every moment. The cottage has everything you need for a fantastic holiday and lots more. The owners are on hand and really helpful if you need. Will be booking again.
Valerie
Really enjoyed our stay. Very good value for money. Very warm and cosy. The only negative was that it was a little too cosy downstairs for 6 adults. Other than that we had a lovely stay. Thank you
Such a beautiful spacious barn. Lovely and cosy and provided everything we needed. Thankyou for the perfect weekend, we cant wait to visit again.
Lovely barn conversion, everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Very peaceful and quiet location, with the added bonus of some farm life around. Great little shop as well, with friendly people.
Southdown is a light, welldesigned former barn on a farm, set amid beautiful countryside and within easy reach of some great places to visit. It was spacious enough for our party of 6 adults and 1 child and the garden is delightful. Run by a lovely couple, they have thought of everything! It's cosy, comfortable and well equipped so you are guaranteed a great stay. Highly recommended and thank you for a glorious week of sunshine, sites to see and stunning scenery
A great property. Very friendly owners who are on site should you need any assistance with anything.
Stephen
Lovely stay. Lovely area. Very comfortable accommodation. Thank you very much.
What a fabulous cottage. Well stocked and had everything we needed. A gorgeous outside space that our little ones made full use of when it wasn't raining Comfy beds, well looked after cottage. Great location as a short drive to lots of lovely places. Really enjoyed our break. Fit our 8 person family in easily. Loved every minute. Could sit and watch the gorgeous cows in the field right outside the window. Owners were readily available if we needed anything. 5

The setting is beautiful and the cottage is as nice as the description on the website. We benefited from lovely weather so that we could sit outside on the comfortable patio and enjoy the beautifully planted garden and the distant views. We also enjoyed meeting the host and the new farm shop will be very useful.

The views are stunning . A real place for relaxation . The photos dont all represent the furnishings most of which were budget . Sofa and beds not too comfortable . This is the first place I have been to in years without a welcome pint of milk at least . This will teach me to read the small print in future . Things that would help are sofas , fan assisted oven , an iron and hair dryer . A small welcome pack can be added to the cost carpet on stairs threadbare in places . Divan beds not great, caused some back discomfort . No headboards .Some leaflets 3 years out of date . We sort of felt everything provided would do other than the wooden furniture which was great . That said, beautiful, peaceful surroundings and possibly more suited to people with children as the play facilities looked excellent
Catherine
A lovely property with everything that you need. The 2 and a half year old in our party loved the playground. The kitchen was very well equipped. We were celebrating Mother's day and a birthday so chose to cook a roast. We bought a Yorkshire pudding tin but everything else was there. There were plenty of towels, toilet rolls and toiletries left for us. We had a lovely time and would like to come back for a longer time.
Rachel
A lovely, well maintained cottage in such a beautiful area. Thank you so much. We felt very welcome, warm and cosy at Southdown and we had everything we needed for our stay.
After a tricky start to our holiday we were delighted with our last minute booking at Corve Barn Farm. The barn is immaculate and the views are outstanding! The children loved the play area especially the trampoline and the guys loved the BBQ. The farm shop had a good selection off food snacks and gifts and tea and cake under the gazebo looking out over the hills was just lovely. Marge and family made us very welcome and helped us with anything we needed, thank you again and we hope to come back very soon
Great location, friendly owners. The cottage had everything you'd need. Glorious views from the patio windows.
Kirsty
Very clean and well equipped house. An abundance of towels and kitchen linen which was very useful and good to have. Bed linen was lovely too. Great garden area with play equipment and trampoline which the kids loved. We were very lucky to see newborn lambs and the owners very kindly let us go and see them each day.
We were very happy with the accommodation. It was just about ok for us and our five children, especially with the brilliant outdoor space and the play area. The children had a wonderful time playing outside with the lovely views, as well as seeing the animals on the farm. The farmer was very friendly and allowed the children to come close as the lambs were being fed, which was lovely. Would highly recommend staying there, and there are loads of wonderful places to visit nearby! Unfortunately, us adults had a more difficult time, as we had recently experienced a family bereavement at the same time as catching a nasty flu which we had for the entirety of the week with five young children this made for an especially exhausting week! However, the accommodation was very comfortable as a place for us to recuperate, and the children had a great time in and around the place
Nice cosy cottage with a well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The view was gorgeous and a nice little playground for younger kids.
Patrick
Very friendly owners who reacted very quickly indeed to a problem with the heating. Friendly advice about places to visit and lent us maps and suggested walks. Some of our party also got to visit parts of the farm and see young lambs being fed. A lovely weekend in a quiet, peaceful spot.
Owners were lovely we had some weather issues and they came round to make sure we were okay. when we needed salt and pepper it was no issue!! great cottage with all facilities and would look at coming back!
Cottage was perfect for the four of us would have been a little cozy for 6 in the seating area. Host left us a lovely welcome pack of cake and wine. Very rural location but great if you are visiting for the walking. Fairly small but well equipped kitchen, all very clean. would definitely stay again.

Lovely setting, excellent accommodation and lots of extras provided.
Absolutely superb welcome, standard of accommodation and location. We had a great stay and even when we couldn't get out because of bad weather, the view from the lounge was beautiful. Top marks all around!
