We had an amazing stay at Hoodgill Barn. The views from the cottage are absolutely fantastic as it is fully surrounded by the cattle farms. The house was spotless when we arrived. We spent most of our evenings relaxing in the hot tub after long walks to the nearby waterfalls. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the welcome basket was a very thoughtful touch. It is the perfect place for a quiet family getaway.

We had a wonderful holiday with a beautiful view and an amazing time spent with family. The cottage had everything we needed and felt very comfortable throughout our stay. The welcome basket with local products was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. The kitchen was very well equipped, making it easy to cook meals together. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, which was a great way to relax and spend time together. The location was perfect for us, with easy access to local towns as well as plenty of great walks nearby. We would happily return
Property nice and owner helpful after having leak and fixed straight away. Views from property amazing and for walks its a brilliant location.
The cottage was amazing and the views from the lounge and conservatory were spectacular. As the cottage is set back about a fifth of a mile from the road you can really enjoy the peace and quite. Thr countryside and local walks are also fantastic. If you have never been to this part of the country before its well worth the journey and this is an ideal place to stay. Peter the owner was also very friendly, helpful and welcoming and provided us with a lovely welcome basket of goodies to enjoy.
Absolutely Amazing Weekend, Beautiful scenery and views, the property was immaculate and in an amazing location, Highly Recomended 100 and would definitely go again. . Thank You So Much Peter..

The property was perfect for our girls walking weekend very clean and well equipped and in the perfect position for some beautiful walks. Middleton in Teesdale has all you need and we have an amazing meal in Romaldkirk. The hot tub was a bonus after a long 10 mile walk! The welcome pack on arrival was also lovely and very generous. Owner, Peter was very welcoming too!
Lovely clean place, idyllic peaceful, surroundings. Indoor hot tub was great but very different, would be perfect for winter months. Unfortunate situation re parking but they were helpful in sorting it out quickly. Helpful owner and Stacey staff who guided us really well. Can i suggest having a water jug in the kitchen when dining at the property
We had a wonderful stay at Hoodgill Barn! Our group of 8 ranged from ages 7 to 80, and all had a brilliant time. The house was spacious and clean, and was equipped with everything you could need. Huge bonuses were the beautiful views and, of course, the hot tub! Peter welcomed us to the property and gave great recommendations for nearby walks and activities. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. We enjoyed exploring nearby Middleton and Barnard Castle. We also loved the walks to High Force and nearby Gibsons Cave. Great property in a beautiful location we would highly recommend!

Our weekend at Hoodgill was perfect from start to finish. I booked the cottage for my 30th birthday and had a very enjoyable stay. I was very impressed with the cottage spacious but cosy, very comfortable and absolutely spotlessly clean. It had all of the amenities we could want and need for the weekend. The appliances were easy to use and we were shown how to use the hot tub before the property owner left on the first day. Peter the owner met us at the property on the first day. He was immediately warm and welcoming. He showed us around the property and I was struck by how much more spacious the house was in reality in comparison to the photographs online. Peter reassured us that if there was anything we needed, he was only a phonecall away. He also gave some great recommendations, being very knowledgeable about the area. We visited the Forressters for lunch on the first day as per his recommendation food was lovely, affordable and we enjoyed the dukebox in the bar area. Not a negative for us at all but perhaps seen as an inconvenience to some there are only 2 designated parking bays but other parking was close by and within walking distance. There was plenty to do nearby but we enjoyed our time spent in the cottage. I was sad to leave and will definitely be booking a return visit hopefully in the not so distant future! I had the best weekend with all of my favourite people under one roof. We all commented on how much Hoodgill made the weekend. It was the perfect space great house, super location, amazing host. The perfect mix of fun & relaxed. Thanks again Peter!
Stephen
Great holiday cottage very clean and warm, and everything works. Beds comfortable. Quiet peaceful location with lots of wildlife to be seen from conservatory. Excellent area for walking , shops 10 minute drive . Had a lovely week.
This is a charming, wellpresented cottage that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owner greeted us on the day of arrival and provided a thorough explanation of everything. If you're seeking peace and quiet, along with stunning scenery, this is the perfect retreat. On clear nights, the stargazing is simply magical. The kitchen is also wellequipped for all your needs. All I can say is what are you waiting for book it.
We stayed here for 5 days at the end of November as a short break for our sons 40th. We met Peter on arrival where he showed us around this fabulous property. A true home from home. The walks were great and the Low Force, High Force and Gibsons Cave are a must. We were snowed in for one day. Peter messaged to check on us and the neighbours came to check that we had the essentials. It was the perfect day for the hot tub. It was the perfect break for us. Highly recommend.
Andrew
What a fantastic place to stay! Amazing location, comfortable, cosy and just what we wanted for my parents Golden Wedding anniversary with the immediate family

This was our second visit to the lovely Hoodgill Barn & we loved it just as much as the first. The house is charming, roomy & well equipped. The hot tub being inside the garden room extension makes for perfect relaxed evenings whatever the weather though our weather this year was very kind indeed! The very best thing about the cottage is the setting. It is tranquil & quiet while only being a 5 minute drive from Middletoninteesdale with all the necessary supplies. A footpath runs behind the cottage straight to Gibson's Cave, Summergill Force, Low Force and High Force. The views from everywhere in the cottage are beautiful & filled with rabbits, pheasants & a slew of different birds. This year the cows weren't in the field beside the hot tub we quite missed them watching us!! A perfect family base for everyone.
Really lovely place to stay for a group of families and friends. Spacious, well maintained and in a beautiful location.
Robert
We were met by Peter who showed us around and explained everything to us. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was fantastic and the accomodation exceptional. We were 6 adults with 3 young children, a baby and a dog. There was ample space and comfort for everyone. In summary we enjoyed a fantastic weekend.
Rachel
We had such a great weekend with all the family to help us celebrate a special birthday. Everything was as described and even better. There was a delightful welcome pack and so much help to welcome us in. The cottage is much larger than I expected with plenty of room for everyone and as the weather wasn't the best we used the hot tub room as a cosy play area for the buys. The rooms were very spacious and the property was exceptionally clean. The kitchen was well equipped as we selfcatered both nights with infants as part of the party. We would definitely return to spend more time exploring the area.
Super cottage, perfectly placed in an idyllic setting. Hoodgill Barn was well equipped, spotless and a great base to relax and enjoy the views. Great walks nearby with the added bonus of an indoor Hot Tub to soothe those aching legs after those long walks. Peter, the owner, was a great host, friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend Hoodgill and we will be back as soon as possible.
Kayleigh
I had a wonderful time at Hoodgill Barn and couldn't fault a thing. The location is beautiful and perfect for walking and exploring the area. The house is lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. The owner was really helpful and welcoming and we would love to come back again in the future.

Lovely cottage in a fabulous location, great views and so lovely to see the stars at night. Very quiet location with lovely walks on your doorstep. The barn was beautiful, home from home with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. It housed everything you need, very clean.

Deborah
Fantastic. Felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, yet plenty to do around the property. So peaceful, beautiful views, and the hot tub room was perfect. The cottage was clean, lovely inside and out and everything provided. The owner, Peter, was so helpful and friendly, thank you.
We had the most amazing and relaxing time here. I couldnt fault anything.
Alexandria
We had a fantastic weekend catching up with friends 5 from Glasgow and 1 from Oxford. The cottage is very comfortable lots of space added bonus was the hot tub. Beautiful location, very peaceful.
Stuart
Lovely cottage, spotlessly clean, in a peaceful setting, with views across valley from all frontofhouse rooms. Peter met us when we arrived to hand keys over and gave lots of helpful advice on the cottage and the area. There was a generous welcome hamper. Thanks! Great local walks, and loads of day trips within 1 hours travel. Hot tub is a great feature for kids, or for adults if they can get in before the kids! Coop in Middleton stays open until 10pm. Areas for improvement? We struggled a bit with the cooker just a single oven and seemed to take for ever to heat up. But we were a large group of 6 adults, 3 kids, plus a baby. Also it rained every day and we felt there was a shortage of drying facilities perhaps we should have been less reluctant to put the heating on!. But overall, a great holiday.
Samantha
We had a fabulous two weeks at Hoodgill Barn exploring the sites, now missing our daily walk to the waterfalls. Hot tub well used after our long walks. Three generations making great memories together, just what we needed
Andrew
We had a fantastic week at Hoodgill Barn, the setting was perfect set back off the road it was so peaceful. Looking out from the front garden you don't see anything but the countryside. The accommodation was very comfortable and was well equipped and the hot tub was great. Peter was very helpful and accommodate, would recommend to anyone. Thanks
Louise
We just spent 3 nights here as a group of 6 friends for my husbands 60th birthday celebrations. The host Peter met us at the property with lots of useful information and a lovely welcome hamper. The cottage is in a really peaceful setting. Some beautiful walks in the area, including the stunning high force waterfall. The cottage is very spacious, warm and well equipped. Wonderful addition of the hot tub in the extension. Nicely decorated, super comfy beds. Would definitely recommend to others.
Me and 8 friends had a 2 night stay here just this last weekend for my 50th yearof celebrations! ! We had a blast, Peter met us at the property and had left 2 bottles of bubbly to help with the celebration
Hoodgill Barn suited our requirements very well, I was only sorry we could not stay longer and explore the area more thoroughly. Hot tub was great, beds very comfortable. Short of a bedside lamp in one room but otherwise we had everything we needed.
