Meadowsweet, Goathland

The house was in a lovely location and the house had everything we needed and the welcome pack was lovely. We got very friendly with dogs and the kids were sad to say goodbye to them. All beds were comfortable and enough towels etc were given for a family of 6 staying. Would have been nice just to have one more fence panel to divide the properties and using the hot tub. We would stay again

We had a fantastic stay and honestly couldnt fault a thing. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. Denise and her family were incredibly attentive, welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay, and the lovely welcome hamper was a really nice touch. The location is ideal and a great base for visiting lots of other places in the surrounding area. The hot tub was also brilliant and perfect for relaxing in on an evening after a day out. A special mention has to go to Denises dogs, who were definitely the stars of the weekend and kept the boys entertained they absolutely loved them! All in all, a faultless stay and somewhere we would happily recommend and return to.

Meadowsweet was a well appointed, very comfortable holiday house. The owners were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The house is situated in a most beautiful setting. Only 3 of us stayed in the house, which is set up to accommodate 6 people. We would recommend that the hot tub be emptied and refilled for each new set of guests. It should also be resited, away from the window of the adjoining, smaller, holiday houseFoxglove so as to reduce any noise affecting the neighbours, or, Meadowsweet be given a larger outdoor area, to reflect the fact that 6 people could occupy the space.

Denise was very welcoming, lovely cottage clean and comfortable. Set in beautiful scenery. Everything you need for a relaxing stay. I would recommend this property.

The host is friendly and welcoming, together with her 2 lovely dogs. Accomodation is a great barn conversion with plenty of space, beds are really comfy and all the bedrooms are good size. Fantastic views across the valley from the hot tub and glimpsies of the steam train when its running, the station is only 10 mins away. Goathland is a short drive away with nice cafes and gift shops. All in all a lovely little hideaway to relax, recharge and enjoy nature.

A really lovely cottage in a beautiful area, walks from cottage which was a bonus. The owner Denise was on hand if you needed her and always very helpful, the hot tub was lovely after getting back from walking. Would highly recommend and definitely come back.

Denise gave us a very warm welcome and tour of the property. It was clean and well presented. the surroundings were superb, with amazing views and plentiful wildlife to watch.

Fantastic October holiday week! From the moment we arrived to the very end! Good communication with the owner Denise before we arrived, and a lovely welcome when we got there. Super accommodation, sympathetically renovateddeveloped, warm, wel equipped. Beds comfy. Hot tub was great. We all loved that we could see the North Yorkshire railway trains from the house. Fabulous views all round. Plenty of wildlife too, owls, pheasants and of course the owners lovely geese and dogs Casper and Ozzie. Good location for day trips, visited Whitby, Scarborough, York National Railway Museum. Also Staithes is beautiful and a great spot for crabbing! All in all, a fantastic week, would highly recommend.

Our second stay here in this comfortable conversion. We love the peace and openness of the moors, and Caspar and Ollie the labradors provide added entertainment. The hot tub is a treat after a long walk or on a starry night, and the steam trains are visible from the house. Denise the owner is on hand if there are any problems, and the welcome basket provided was much appreciated. The kitchen area is spacious and equipped for making meals we would suggest adding some more smallmedium lidded pans. The cottage feels away from it all but is well located for exploring the lovely moors villages and coast.

We booked a weekend break at Meadow Sweet Cottage and honestly had the best time! From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome Denise greeted us with her adorable baby geese and showed us around the beautiful property, where a basket of wonderful Yorkshire goodies had been left for us. She also gave us some brilliant suggestions for days out, including a trip to Whitby Abbey where we caught a fantastic Dracula show and visited the brewery. The cottage itself was cosy, warm, and just the right size for the five of us. We absolutely loved the friendly dogs, Casper and Ozzy, and were sad to leave them when we went home. The geese knocking on the door and wandering about were such a lovely touch, and we even spotted lots of baby pheasants and partridges. The views and outdoor space were stunning, and we were lucky with the sunny weather so we could sit outside and soak up the gorgeous scenery over the valley. The hot tub was an absolute bonus and made our stay even more special. What really made the weekend though was how attentive and kind Denise and her family were they truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. It was lovely to meet each of them, and they were such wonderful company throughout our visit. We only wish wed booked for longer, but well definitely be back. Honestly, you wont be disappointed with this place its fantastic!

Property sits in an idyllic setting with an amazing view. It is very peaceful and serene. It is wellkept and clean, with a hot tub at the back facing the valley which was nice. I was fortunate to see the resident barn owl and abundance of game birds roaming the field! Its off the beaten track and fantastic walks all around. There are plenty board games, books and dvds on those raining days. We will definitely return.

Warm welcome from owners who live close by, with friendly nothing too much trouble approach. Fabulous surroundings, with plenty of wildlife, some domesticated to play with geese, labradors, cat and some just to look at sheep, cows, bats, owls, pheasants etc. Notable uninterrupted views would be the glorious hills, trees and other greenery, plus steam locomotivehauled trains on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in the nearby valley. Hot tub is ideal for relaxing and star gazing after a day of beautiful walks! Other small positives of note are, plenty of car parking, several Alexa Dots, variety of board games, Blue Ray player with selection of DVDs. Once you have negotiated the interesting single track road down to the cottage you are rewarded with a great base for exploring the magnificent North Yorkshire region.

A lovely cottage in a truly beautiful location. The cottage is very well presented, and comfortable. And the owners were lovely and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and cant wait to visit again.

Stunning property. Will def be returning. Denise couldnt do enough to help. Beautiful hamper left for us after a long journey, much needed. Location was idillic and so peaceful with beautiful wild life. We were even treated to a baby deer! Property was very very clean and comfortable. Beautiful barn conversion. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of space for entire family. Views are out of this world. It is so peaceful and remote. Our dog made friends with owners dogs which added to the welcoming feel from the hosts. Whole package definitely deserves 5 stars and we will be back.

Very simple booking process, despite booking less than 24hrs before arriving. Fabulous property, exactly as described, wonderful hosts, Tim and Denise, we were even blessed with the weather. Some of our family joined us at different times during the week and were equally impressed, they were also made very welcome by our hosts. The views from the property are simply stunning and the house had everything we needed for a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable stay, the welcome pack a definite bonus. We will definitely be returning.

We had a great stay at Meadowsweet. Loved the hot tub. Enjoyed watching the Barn owl, hares, deer and other wild life. Really enjoyed the pub at Beck Hole. We had very comfortable stay.

We had a fantastic 5night break at Meadowsweet. Beautiful cottage very spacious, well equipped, comfy could not have asked for more. Location is great. You can watch hear the steam train from the cottage, which went a few times each day, including at 9.30am, which was nice to be woken up to. Hot tub fantastic. We had clear sky, so was great to sit and look at the stars. Great walks to the surrounding villages. Denise and her family were very helpful. Perfect mini break in a beautiful cottage, in a beautiful location.

Lovely isolated barn conversion. Excellent holiday feel and relaxed owners. Good for bird watching and on the public footpath. Drive from main road is steep and gravelly but do able with a non 4 x4 type car but worth being aware of before arrival. Suitable for family or group of friends. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Absolutely perfect. This is an amazing place to stay for a holiday. Every attention to detail has been taken. I can't recommend this lovely holiday home enough. Great as a base, but also a lovely place to chill and take in the breathtaking views from the hot tub. The owners were there to greet us. Leaving a lovely welcome hamper. They were there, but in no way intrusive.

Meadowsweet is an outstanding property. The views and position are simply stunning. The track down to the property we found to be well maintained, rather fun and well worth the effort. We saw Red Grouse, Red Squirrels, a Hare as well as having an incredible view of the barn owl swooping down the valley. The hot tub is a welcome addition to this well thought out and tastfully renovated property. The owners, Denise and family, were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Casper and Olly the owners dogs were also great company, eager to play but happy to stop once told! We all fell in love with the peace and quiet lovely walks can be found without getting in your car. A highlight for us was walking to Goathland from the property and having Sunday lunch at the Inn on the Moor. The best Sunday lunch we have had. We all had a great time at Meadowsweet and would highly recommend it.

Meadowsweet was such a lovley place to stay the views are amazing and the hot tub just finishes it off. There is everything you need in Meadowsweet like a washing machine and dishwasher. When you stay there look out for the barn owl. The family who own it are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend this place anytime just beautiful

Excellent, high standard property. Very comfortable beds. Lovely reclining seats on settee and hot tub to relax when when youve been for a long walk. The views from the cottage are amazing and the steam train going through the valley just adds to the extra wow factor. So much to do in local area. Denise was lovely and helpful.

Another excellent stay at the amazing Meadowsweet. Lovely welcome hamper of local goodies, none more local than the free range eggs from the owner's chickens. Property was immaculate as usual and the views never disappoint. Plenty of wildlife to view, from the clear view of the barn owl, pheasants, sheeplambs and cowscalves, to the resident ducks, chickens, rabbits and of course the two adorable labradors, who are always very welcome visitors. This property is a gem. Furnished to a high standard, well equipped and nice welcome pack. Spotless throughout, comfortable beds, good heating, not that we needed it. Fabulous views, peaceful and very relaxing. Enjoyed the hot tub. Barn Owls nesting next door which were great to see. Highly recommended, would definitely stay here again.

We couldn't have asked for a better week. The property and it's location are stunning, our 2 young daughters loved the property and all the animals from chickens, dogs, cats to owls and deer roaming the grounds. Thankyou for a holiday none of us will ever forget!

Great property right in the middle of the North York Moors, within relatively easy drive of all a lot of attractions. Clean, warm, modern, comfy. Situated down 14 mile of farm track. Freakishly dark when you turn all the lights off, just a pity we didn't have a clear night to look at the stars! Would definitely stay again if we're in the area. Thanks!

A lovely cottage in an exceptional location for any walkers and steam enthusiasts! Denise was wonderfully helpful with recommendations, cottage came equipped with fascinating books to learn more about the North York Moors Railway in particular, and the hot tub after a long walk was the cherry on top.

We had a great stay at Meadowsweet. It is a beautifully renovated cottage and has everything you would need. The cottage was warm and cosy and the warm welcome and fresh flowers made it more special. There are lots of lovely walks from the door and great pubs for lunch. The dogs were very entertaining. Thank you, we had a wonderful time.

A last minute booking and what a gem it turned out to be. The barn conversion had been completed to a very high standard set overlooking a beautiful valley where the North Yorkshire steam trains run. The furnishings were quality. The cottage was well equipped and there was a much appreciated welcome basket. The host and indeed all the family were very welcoming, friendly and offered lots of advice on places to visit.

We cannot recommend this property highly enough. We had a wonderful stay, the accommodation is appointed to a very high standard and no expense has been spared. Denise was a very welcoming host and was available should we have needed her. The views from the barn cottage are stunning and you are surrounded by an abundance of wildlife barn owls, deer, pheasants, rabbits to name just a few. We were also entertained by the resident ducks and the two wonderful Labrador retrievers. Lots and lots to do along the east coast, Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay, Pickering, Rosedale, Ravenscar all visited and to end the week we had a brilliant trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Pulman dining train.
