Jackie
We were blown away everything was wonderful, it was so spacious, clean tidy and welcoming. Karen had left us a home baked cake & butter to have with our cup of tea. Even the weather could not spoil our autumn break. We hope to return to the Stables next spring and once again visit the beautiful Elan Valley.
Graeme
Clean, tidy and comfortable converted old stables. Set in a peaceful and quiet valley. Nearest shop was 4 miles away with supermarkets in the town of Llandrindod Wells 8 miles away. Owned by and next door to the village pub which is useful. Lots of waking and cycling pathes in the area, so idea for the more adventurous.
William
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Very clean and well equipped, the best Ive ever been to. Pleasant and helpful owners. I hope to return in the future.
A gorgeous Cottage with everything you could need for a lovely holiday. Tea, coffee, milk and a homemade Bara Brith were a welcome find when we arrived. We will be back
Absolutely loved this hideaway. For the four of us, one being our 2 year old grandson, the property gave him such fun with his racing cars, the flooring being ideal. Its spacious, very clean with all the amenities. The owners were very welcoming and teacoffee and cake waiting for us on our arrival. Plenty to do either walking stunning scenery around visiting Devils Bridge, Aberystwyth or the Butterfly House. We would definitely recommend this venue
Beautiful comfort accommodation in a quiet location situated next door to the local pub which is very welcoming by all the locals and is also ran by the hosts Karen and John who are both and very helpful. There is some lovely places to visit around the area this visit was actually our second as stayed in Karen and John's other cottage in September and enjoyed it so much we returned within a few weeks and will definitely return again.
Perfect place to do some familyclan building! Very quiet.
Nicola
A spacious and very comfortable property with lovely views.
Claire & Chris
A lovely and comfortable week's stay in this very clean and wellappointed cottage. It is in an extremely pretty situation in a very quiet village with some good local walks and interesting activities such as the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Gigrin Farm and the Elan Valley. We enjoyed a very relaxing week and the family inn next door is very well worth a visit or three!
Rodney
Very comfortable beds! Several cobwebs lurked, one had huge spider, which spooked the wife! Found it very quiet & peaceful in a lovely setting.
Robert
Although the stables were reasonably equipped we found the cooker in a poor state, I think this was due to its age however we did not use the oven as it was not very clean. Would have visited the inn but opening at 8pm was a put off. We got a couple of days with torrential rain but found things to occupy us during this time was limited to puzzles with pieces missing and an old children's game again with pieces missing. We enjoyed our holiday but sorry to say the stables were not for us.
Catherine
Lovely cottage in a great location well equipped . Plenty of parking at the front with garden furniture but over looked Great sized rooms Disappointed no back garden to enjoy the views A full length mirror would be a great addition Lovely welcome with tea coffee milk and bara brith
Excellent cottage in a beautiful location with great views.
A lovely spacious and well equipped property, beautiful setting. Owner welcoming and helpful and a real bonus had made us a very tasty cake.
Lovely spacious cottage with everything we needed apart from hair drier for the wivesunless we didn't find it. All in all a lovely break in a beautiful area. Thank you Karen and John The Bara Brith and supplies were much appreciated.
Quiet , comfortable venue. Ample space only 2 of us . Bara brith and milk plus tea and coffee portions left for us. Delightful view through picture window. The owners small pub next door was also very welcoming. We felt very relaxed and comfortable here for our weeks stay.
Pamela
Beautiful barn conversion in a lovely little village in Powys. The property was exceptionally clean and extremely well equipped, warm and comfortable. Much appreciated bara brith, tea, coffee sugar and milk on arrival. We were aware of slight remoteness so took enough provisions for a couple of days and there is a good sized Tesco and Aldi in Llandrindod Wells. Elan valley was lovely but trails are steep and narrow not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. We really enjoyed the red kite feeding at Gigrin farm website still advising pre booking. All in all a perfect peaceful getaway. Thank you so much Karen and John for your hospitality.
Malcolm
We had a really enjoyable and relaxing time at The Stable cottage. It was very warm and comfortable and just sitting and taking in the views was a real tonic. Karen and John ensured every home comfort and the welcome Bara Brith, butter and tea and coffee is a great touch. It's a great base for touring the beautiful surrounding countryside, we didn't want to leave and hope to return again. An absolutely first class cottage.
An excellent location for us to meet up with our friends. The accommodation is rather remote, well it is very remote! We each took different routes into the village, and both wondered where we were heading! The church was being decorated for Harvest Festival when we arrived and the people doing the decorating were very friendly and pointed out some unusual fungi in the churchyard. We knew we might be a long way from shops so had taken food and drink with us so it was fine. The only down side, as mentioned before, was the limited space in the fridge but we managed. Lovely places to visit don't miss the Red Kite feeding !
George
Happy Union Stables was perfect in every respect! The accommodation was extremely comfortable with plenty of storage and all mod cons. John and Karen, the owners were very accommodating and having their pub next door was a bonus. Thank you Karen for the lovely home made Bara Brith and other welcoming goods. Definitely plan to return as even the surrounding area exceeded our expectations including the lovely village of Abbeycwmhir.
Maldwyn
Generally well equipped property in beautiful setting. Only thing this property lacked was a decent sized fridge and freezer given that it's catering for four people and that the nearest supermarket is a good 12 miles round trip.
Lovely quiet place with lots of space . Great place to go walking. Owners nearby in case of any issues. The cottage had everything I needed and it was beautifully clean.
Esther
Absolutely loved our stay here such a relaxing, peaceful place. The cottage was clean and comfy and we spend a long time just appreciating the birdsong. Cant wait to return.
Robert
We had a lovely stay. The house was very pleasant adn the open plan living area, and huge window were great. The location is so quiet but within easy reach of good walking and cycling, and the nearby abbey ruins are beautiful. All in all a great holiday. Many thanks
Caroline

Really comfortable stay and everything we could want from a holiday let. Thank you.
Heather
A perfect place for a get away from it all holiday. Beautiful scenery, peaceful hamlet. Ideal for walking. Not too far from local small towns to get provisions. A lovely part of Wales to explore and a great cottage to come back to and relax in. Lovely outdoor space to sit and enjoy the scenery and watch the red kites, swifts and swallows with a glass of wine and a bbq. Perfect.
A beautiful cottage and a wonderful holiday!
We've just got back from spending new year at the happy union stables and we were blown away. Such a beautiful little villiage and the accommodation was absolutely stunning. Will definitely book again. Thank you so much for your hospitality
Nicole
The Happy Union Stables is a great place to stay, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Karen and John are lovely and the cake on our arrival was a welcome touch as we had a very long journey. The pub is welcoming, as are the locals we bumped into a couple of them in Aberystwyth by chance and they stopped to say hello! Everything for our immediate needs was provided milk, tea, coffee etc. It is a great base to use to visit other places and Karen and John were mines of useful information with recommendations for places to go. We would certainly recommend the waterfalls at Devil's Bridge not for the fainthearted, as well as the steam railway stunning scenery, the Elan Valley Dams and Reservoirs magnificent scenery and, if you want to travel that far, Caernarfon Castle fantastic and fascinating history and its surrounding quaint streets are well worth a visit! We were unlucky enough to have bad weather for most of our trip, but it certainly did not spoil our holiday far from it, it made us think outside the box for places to visit. We would certainly recommend it to others and if we go back to Wales, would certainly visit again.
Stephen
Situated in a pretty peaceful village, spacious, clean, fully equipped accomodation. Locals friendly.
Elaine
The surrounding area is amazing. The walks we took were great. A very peaceful break. Thank you.
Amazing place, fantastic hosts, idilc location. Perfect, would definitely go back. Simba the beautiful, friendly cat that visited was an added bonus.
Jennifer

Angela
We had a lovely time at your home and we loved the cake you baked for us! It was a very warm welcome. We are definitely coming back for our next holiday!!
