Glanyrafon Reviews

We had a lovely family stay at Glan yr Afon, and we all said wed love to stay again! The accommodation is set in the middle of a farm yard and the surroundings were beautiful. We loved our stay but I think communication with the owner could be better, we had no real issues, just a question about the heating and we didnt have a reply
Another fabulous stay the cottage is well appointed and has pretty much everything needed. The hot tub is such a bonus and is a major factor in our decision to keep returning as it's nice to have a relaxing dip before bed. A couple of things that aren't gripes by the way, just more of an FYI we couldn't find tea towels or we couldn't find them at least although I don't think exhaustive efforts were made to look. We're staying again next year so will remember to bring some! Also, the double sofa has disappeared which really only left seating for 7 comfortably, nine if a little friendlier. Seeming as the barn sleeps 11 that seemed a bit odd and there were 10 of us so we rotated who was going to be left a little less comfortable. Thanks, however, for another wonderful stay!

It was a fantastic holiday. We come back again

We celebrated a 40th birthday. Found the setting idyllic and there were loads of room in the property with everything you really needed. It was very good value for money. However the furniture in the living room could do with being updated, and even though it was lovely having a hot tub we found that the bubbles weren't very strong. Also there was a strong smell of diesel coming from the utility area, potentially coming from the boiler.

Very happy with property and service we had issue with one of property and it ... Very happy with property and service we had issue with one of property and it was resolved very quickly highly recommended and definitely coming back wonderful service and view
The property was lovely. Better signage on the main road before you turn down the farm track would help with finding the property or maybe putting on a what 3 words. The ovens werent great and took a long time to cook food. The hot tub was fabulous but could do with some sort of cover so it could be used in all weathers. The property was very clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable and we would definitely stay again. We had a good shop delivered by Tesco and they found the place easily as were locals.

Had a beautiful weekend staying at this property, the scenery and views were spectacular. However, we did encounter a few problems. Number one being Flys, they seem to love the property as much as we did and overtook the place, I have never in my life seen so many flys in one house. I'm sure you are aware of this problem as the house had many supply's to help, which we sadly had to use most of them 3 cans of fly spray. Number two was that the TV would turn on but the remotes were not working, we bought new batteries but sadly still did not work, this was a small problem for us as we were a party group and had come prepared with our own music and speakers, but for a family's this could have been a huge problem. I know I have mentioned 2 bad points but honestly we would still book this place it is absolutely lovely and the hot tub is huge and deep and adds a special touch to the property, its a working farm so we woke up to cows and sheep which was brilliant. Will 100 per cent be back I'll be more prepares for the flya next time.
Really lovely setting, hot tub was great and theres lots to do if you have an active imagination, the kitchen, living room and bedrooms are a really good size and the nearest village is close and lovely if you wanted to go and do a bit of shopping or have a drink or something to eat.
Perfect we all love it. very relaxing place, clean and spacious
We had a lovely time and the property was clean and an excellent size. We were disappointed as when I was choosing a property it was important that it had a log burner however, a gas log burner was the next best thing. Unfortunately, it didn't work and despite the owner attempting to get a spare part we did not have a fire. The central heating was excellent and we weren't cold, but as it was Christmas we wanted the atmosphere a log burner gives. Also, the cooking range was great, but the large burner was not burning properly and smelt of gas with a yellow flame. This meant we could not use the burner and it obviously needed servicing as evidently did the fire. I notice that someone previously had stated that the upstairs bathroom tap was continuously running and this had not been fixed. Kitchen sink was leaking from somewhere and there was a puddle of water on the floor when using taps. It was very clean, well equipped and the hot tub was fantastic. Apart from the issues mentioned above, it was a lovely stay.

Should be a brighter or another light provided outside, as unable to see outside when it gets dark early. Needs better explanation of the location of the house, took an hour to find the property.
I booked the a weekend for my daughters 16th birthday with another family friend. Good facilities and kids loved it. Will definitely book it again.

An amazing experience ,coupled up with a beautiful home overlooking a peaceful scenery. My son who has austim absolutely loved it as there was so much space to run around as well as a nice hot tub to cool off in. The owners were one of the nicest people we've ever encountered. I would highly recommend this place for a peaceful get away from city life.
Several things were either broken or not working eg key safe, toilet ... Several things were either broken or not working eg key safe, toilet seat Leaking cold water tap etc No farm contact to resolve the above issues and others

Great setting. Host was helpful. House great.
The property was gorgeous really spacious and is great for little children. Beds were really Comfortable and I liked that there were plenty of pillows and towels. The room sizes were great all the things you needed like long mirrors and sturdy wardrobes and draws. We did not have hot water for the the first two days but the owners sorted this out when they could was a bank holiday. There is a lot of flies within the property and this is owing to the farm situated next the property. You just have to be extra careful when preparing food. I think to improve the property maybe placing a dryer in the property and a washing line outside, provide many many fly catchers as this really helped and lastly could a shelter be placed over the hot tub? When it rains you generally dont use it and when it was sunny the kids had no shelter so I had to reduce the length of time they went in, with a shelter you have more flexibility. Overall we had a lovely stay it was just the break we needed.

Lovely cottage, enjoyed our stay very much. Would come back again, however there are a few disappointments. Unable to use the bbq, which we were not happy with as it said it has this facility and we had purchased meat, bbq coal etc. Late check in and early check out. A little unfair when you are travelling from far and can only check in at 5pm. Wastes the whole day and then to have to leave super early and having to clean everywhere and strip the linen. Defiantly would need more time for this. Felt it was rushed and we needed more time. Other than this we were very happy.
Although we took a while finding it we were very happy once we got there , very spacious lovely comfy beds ideally situated around beautiful scenery and several beautiful walks and climbs, mine been up a mountain waterfall. there was also a splendid dam to walk around and every corner had a splendid view, which you never stopped been amazed at. Local village and pub was just a short drive and had everything in it. Visited several coastal areas while their and while some was very quiet were also beautiful, overall a great staycation, usually go abroad .
Sanjay

Dominic
We have been here three time now, its very comfortable and suitable for our large group. It's not perfect in decor but we like that as we have 5 kids under 8 in our group. We would highly recommend.
Really good experience, everyone really had a good time at this cottage.

Great place for a retreat, lovely hot tub!
Rebecca
Had a lovely and relaxing stay this weekend. Pictures do not do this lovely property justice. Thank you
8 of us went, and couldn't of asked for anymore. Such a lovely and comfortable place to stay. Very clean, hot tub was really nice, and lots of room for everyone to sit! Would highly recommend this, and will be definitely coming back again!
Rachel
We had a lovely stay at Glanyrafon, We went as a Family of 12 to celebrate my mothers 60th Birthday. The accommodation was spacious. Beds where very comfortable. Staff where friendly. Would definitely stay again.
Great cottage with character and plenty of space. Nice and secluded in a beautiful landscape. Would love to stay again!
Brilliant holiday. Brilliant location and property. Sykes and holiday home landlord were great when a small issue occured with the plumbing. Very responsive.
The barn was a bit tired in places and the heating hadnt been put on prior to us getting there which meant it took ages to warm up and was a bit off putting. Had to ring for more bed sheets as two beds werent made up and we could find any spares, but they were sorted in quick time. We asked for stair gates to be put on for our stay and they werent so we had to do them ourselves! Beds were comfy and a lovely base but some furniture and crockery could do with up dating and curtains hanging off in places. Just needs a little love and attention.
Family of 6 adults & 2 grandchildren stayed for the weekend 60th birthday. The cottage and facilities are of a high standard. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to go. Very good customer services from Sykes cottages, already looking to book another trip in the summer.
The photos really dont do the size of the property justice. It was absolutely huge and as we had a toddler in our party, we requested baby hates and a hair chair and on arrival there was a choice of two high chairs plus the gates already up and in situ. We found the property tricky to find using the postcode and the directions but a local helped us out. The WiFi, hot tub and bathroom facilities are all brilliant and cater to the group size, same for cutlery and crockery which isnt always the case for large parties. Really wonderful stay and the local area is beautiful. We spent a day at the Elan Valley and it was great.
Dominic
We have been to this barn twice now and are thinking of booking it again for next year. Its in a great location and works well with the size of our party.
Nichola
Beautiful cottage, the pictures do not do it justice. A lot bigger than it looks. Very clean and tidy. The beds are so comfortable that everyone in our group had good nights sleep.any small issues the new owners are aware of and are in the process of fixing these, very friendly and helpful, We will definitely be booking again.
Tracey
The amount of flies was very off putting, particularly when cooking in the kitchen. Fly screens at windows may have helped as we felt we couldnt open the windows or doors. Also, it would of helped to have a parasol in garden to shield from sun on very hot days. Shame about the misted windows in the lounge spoiling the view. On the plus side the cottage was clean and bedrooms very comfortable.
The barn was fly infested and should never have been let!
