Foxglove Reviews

The cottage was very lovely. Me and my partner really loved staying there. We liked the aesthetic of it. We got a lovely welcome from Denise.
We had a magical weeks stay at Foxglove cottage views are amazing and after a long day walking the hot tub was an added bonus . One of our favourite stays will definitely return Lisa Shaun and Willow
Matthew
We had a lovely weeks stay at Foxglove cottage. The accommodation was modern, cosy and well equipped. Denise the owner was a star and nothing was too much trouble. The surroundings were stunning and it was lovely to see the geese, ducks, hens and barn owl. We would recommend this cottage.
Andrew
Had a fantastic week. The location and view is perfect. Short drive to Whitby and a nice walk down the valley to the rail trail walk which takes you to grosmont or goathland. Denise was a fantastic host, 100 recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at this lodge. The owner was incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The location is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful, and we especially loved seeing the owls during our stay such a special touch. The lodge itself was spotless and very well looked after. Wed happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Michelle
Fantastic little cottage in a stunning location. The owners were very welcoming and Denise showed us how everything worked. We had everything we needed including wood for the fire. The local area was beautiful with easy access from the property to the Rail Trail walk that goes from Grosmont to Goathland. A very quiet spot, with the only noise was from the nearby river and wildlife ... lying in bed listening to the owls was amazing! Being a dark sky location the night sky was stunning when it wasnt cloudy! Would highly recommend and cant wait to return!
Wonderful, cosy cottage in a lovely location. Denise was a perfect hostess without being intrusive. View was to die for, especially at dawn. Field at the back of the cottage was perfect for our border collie to wake up to. Overall would highly recommend
Teresa
We stayed in Foxglove for a week in January when it was wet and cold. However The cottage was perfect for a winter holiday. The cottage is very modern, cosy and comfortable. The underfloor heating is extremely efficient and for most of our time we only needed it on low. The log burner is a beautiful addition for a cold night, easy to use with plenty of fuel provided. However the heating was so efficient we only used it once. The hot tub is gorgeous. Warm and very clean. Perfect at then end of a day of walking and a lot of fun. A very generous size for two. The cottage is very well equipped for food preparation with a lovely eating area overlooking the views. The views are stunning. You cant stop looking at them. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom modern with a hot powerful shower. Theres a clothes horse air dryer which dried out wet clothes very efficiently overnight. Even our hot tub costumes. The area is absolutely stunning for walks and views. Although we know Yorkshire we were captivated by the Moors walks even in bad weather. The coastal path Cleveland Way is stunning and highly recommended from Whitby , Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods bay. The people of Yorkshire are the friendliest people. We loved our chats with locals. The pubs are gorgeous, most traditional with log burners which are very welcoming after a day of walking. We had a wonderful meal at the Wheatsheaf on our last night. The Birch Inn was fascinating on the beautiful Rail Trail at the bottom of the hill along a gorgeous river walk. Denise our host was the most kind and friendly lady who showed us how things worked around the property. Although the family were on hand the property feels private. There is plenty of parking. All in all a magical holiday. Thank you
Lovely place to stay. Had everything we needed. Fantastic location for walks to the local pub and more. Denise and family were especially helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely location with such great views for a really relaxing break!
Rosalind
Lovely property with fantastic views over the fields, including sights of the NYR Heritage Railway. Quiet and peaceful with all the amenities that you need. Loads of walks and things to do on your doorstep. Hosts were lovely, coming to meet us and see us go, checking wed had everything we needed. Very relaxing holiday.
Absolutely lovely cottage which is just far enough off the beaten track but close enough to shops and pubs etc. Great location, the field out the back is perfect for dogs to have a run around. The owners are lovely and its great that they also live close to the cottage. The sunrises were stunning and theres so much to see and do in the area. Its a really special place and a great find!
Property needs an outside light at the back, could be quite dangerous when using the hot tub at night. It needs a heated towel rail somewhere in the property to dry your towels and clothes, especially if you have a hot tub. Great location, lovely views, good internet, liked the smart TV, owner and the dogs were very friendly.
Joanna
Wonderful cottage, beautiful views made extra special with the Barn owl. Denise and family were very helpful
Beautiful spot for a quiet, get away from it all, holiday. Ideally situated, for walkers, to the Rail Trail, to Goathland or Grosmont. We eagerly awaited the sound of the steam train labouring up Goathland incline a timeless view. The cottage is finished to a high standard and has everything you need for comfort. The hot tub was much appreciated after a day's walking enlivened by Ossie popping up requesting you play with him. Dogs, ducks and geese all added to the ambiance.
Great place to stay, beautiful views including the steam trains going past in the valley and very comfortable accommodation. The owner, Denise, is lovely and very welcoming nothing is too much trouble. The dogs, Ozzie and Casper, and the cat Gaz plus the geese come to visit regularly. They are all really friendly and well behaved. Also there are lots of excellent places to eat nearby at various prices.
Beatrice
We had a great stay at Foxglove cottage. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with a beautiful outdoor area and hot tub overlooking amazing views. A great location near the village with lovely walks nearby. Host Denise was lovely and welcoming, and we loved all the animals and playing with dogs Ozzy and Casper.
Victoria
Loved everything. Very relaxing with beautiful views.
Debbie
Foxglove is an amazing little hidden gem, very much out of the way, indeed all you can hear is the sound of sheep, assorted other farm animals and the occasional steam train going past in the valley, so relaxing and perfect for the two of us with our small dog. When we arrived, we were greeted by Denise and her son who gave us a quick tour around, introducing us to the various animals, and showing us into the accommodation. Weve not had a hot tub in a property previously and he provided a quick run through of some basic instructions nothing difficult or onerous which was much appreciated. The accommodation itself was lovely, very well equipped, although saucepan lids would have been a helpful addition. I dont think I saw it in the property listing, but there is a fridge freezer in this property, not just a fridge. There was a small welcome pack provided which was a lovely touch. We did a Tescos order to arrive soon after we did but there was a bit of a snaffu with our order arrival due to a break down. A quick chat with our host and they came to the rescue and provided us with a couple of pints of milk to tide us over. There are lots of walks right from the property. The rail trail can get you to a number of local villages. We did the walk to Goathland where they filmed Heartbeat and took a trip on the steam train from the village. The Birch Hall Inn in Beckhole is a tiny, cash only, pub and sweet shop, unspoiled, picturesque, with no WiFi or phone signal, definitely worth the walk. It also does some food, tiny menu but really tasty, make sure you check opening hoursdays online. We tried a few pubs to eat locally, all good but the stand out for us was the Wheatsheaf in Egton on our last night. All in all a wonderful week away in a very picturesque and quiet area with amazing, helpful hosts and a lovely little converted stable to stay in. Couldnt wish for better, well be looking to book again!
We had a lovely stay, we enjoyed the walk to Goathland that was recommended by Denise, the owner. The hot tub was fantastic with amazing views. It was great meeting the dogs and getting to hold 'Bruce the Goose.' Denise and her son Chris were very friendly and helpful. Had a very relaxed week.
This is an ideal cottage for a stay for two, we took our small dog with us and she settled immediately. We were made very welcome by the family who own the property. The place is beautiful in itself but the scenery and wildlife are truly amazing. Definitely one we will revisit.
Sheila
We had a lovely week at Foxglove. The view from the cottage is amazing especially when sitting in the hot tub. Denise, the owner was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the area.
Lovely cottage with warm welcome from host. Tranquil location nestled on the slopes of the Murk Esk Valley, with view of the NYM Heritage Railway across the Valley. Plenty of walking from the doorstep, wildlife to spot and great night skies, with the luxury of viewing from a hot tub.
Heather
Great holiday and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful area with lots to do and great walks. The accommodation was well laid out, comfortable and had everything we needed. It was amazing to sit in the hottub and see the stars at night as there was no light pollution!
Daniel

We really enjoyed our stay at Foxglove. It was comfortable, cosy and very peaceful. The conversion had been done to a very high standard and provided us with everything we could possibly want from a holiday let. A real bonus was the amazing view from the properties. We were able to look out over the valley and the moors with the added attraction of being able to see the steam trains of the North York Moors railway passing by. Our days started with the most amazing sunrises.
Lindsey
We enjoyed our stay at Foxglove. Just what I needed. Peace and quiet. Didnt want to leave.
Maggie
Brilliant place to stay. ..landscape is stunning. Cottage lovely everything you need and more. Loved the hot tub and watching the steam train go by. Watching the barn owl was magical. Hosts are very welcoming. Away from.it all...very peaceful. The only downside is the track to reach the property...mud track with lots of pot holes.
Carmen
Foxglove was excellent place to stay It had everything you needed from a dishwasher to a washing machine ect Towels were provided and after a long day walking you can relax in the hot tub when you get back. The views were amazing from foxglove and you could sit in hot tub and watch the steam train go by. You also get a gift for you when you arrive but you will have to book.to find that one out. All in all I would definitely recommend foxglove
The property was amazing, very clean, the setting was amazing, views breathtaking. Denise was amazing, very friendly and would definitely recommend this property. Would 100 go back.
Richard
A delightful cozy and comfortable stay at Foxglove, idyllic surroundings in which to totally chill out. With the added attraction of the steam train passing by several times a day. Denise was a warm and friendly host and her dogs Casper and Ozzie were excellent entertainment value. All in all we would highly recommend a stay at Foxglove.
The property is accessed by a long track approximately 0. 4 of a mile rest assured you are on the correct route. Property stunning and very clean. Owner Denise friendly and happy to give advice. We loved the peaceful surrounding the only sounds were of nature. Being able to relax in the hub tub and see the Barn Owl swoop over and the ducks waddle by was very special. Many walks on the doorstep, we were lucky enough to see deer whilst staying at Foxglove. We totally enjoyed our stay and will happily return
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Foxglove. We received a warm welcome from Denise and her 2 sons, and found the property very clean and wellequipped for our stay our only recommendations would be some lids for the saucepans and some fairy liquid in the kitchen. The property had beautiful views over the valley and a fantastic hot tub which we enjoyed every evening. We also had lots of fun with the 2 golden Labradors who were very friendly, and it was great to see the ducks and chickens! Thank you!
Annette
Beautifully renovated barn in a fabulous setting. Very cosy and comfortable with everything you could need. We received a warm welcome from host Denise. One of the most memorable highlights is sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine, watching the steam trains pass in the valley below. Highly recommended.
A genuinely beautiful cottage with genuinely beautiful surroundings, the owners are also genuinely decent and kind people, very welcoming and warm. The welcome pack was certainly above average and the overall level of relaxation and peace was soon very evident, All in all very limited in what to say that could have improved our stay, and in truth with all the positives experienced it would feel petty to even consider mentioning anything .
We arrived to a very warm welcome from Denise and her gorgeous labradors Casper and Ozzie. The converted barn was exceptionally clean and had an amazing view.We loved to watch the steam train chuffing by as we relaxed in the hot tub,Also our daily visits from the dogs, ducks and Gus the cat.If you love nature walks and scenery this is the place to Stay.Thank you Denise for a wonderful week.
Lovely cottage , beautiful surroundings, peaceful , and visits from the dogs and ducks.
