Bank End Barn Reviews

Lesley
We spent a lovely few days at Bank End Barn in Grizebeck with family and 2 dogs, it was very comfortable and spacious, there was plenty of facilities in the kitchen etc my only suggestion would be bigger towels bath Sheets, maybe toweling dressing gowns for the hot tub & a hair dryer the parking is fine although someone had parked in our designated area but we managed. all in all a lovely few days away chilling Lesley & Ken
Beverley
Beautiful cottage well situated for visiting other parts of the lakes. Local pub nearby did an excellent Sunday Roast. Hot tub was great as it was under cover meaning we could use it even in the rain .very comfortable for a group of 9.
Claire
This cottage is lovely, the photos do not do it justice! Every room was clean and well presented, and we had everything we needed kitchen equipment, laundry etc. We had a full house, including myself, my husband, my 3 boys, my parents, and my siblings and everyone really enjoyed their stay. The hot tub was amazing and much appreciated after climbing Old Man Coniston!. My 3 sons 10, 8, and 6 loved the triple room, and the football goals. They also loved all of the board games that were supplied. This property is well situated in the Lake District, all of the big supermarkets are close by in BarrowinFurness, and the location allowed us to see and do so much in the Lake District! Thank you, Emma, for a lovely stay!
Pamela
Think it is due a freshen up , paint carpets replacing or deep cleaned and linen renewing . Some nice sun loungers in the garden especially if summers are going to get hotter even in Lake District.
Debbie
Great place to stay, we had a lovely time 4 adults and 3 dogs. Plenty of space however be aware if you have mobility problems there are a lot of stairs, we were kept very fit when we left anything in the kitchen. The hottub was fantastic and very well maintained with lovely views. If you are going with dogs then yes it is secure so long as they are not inclined to jump over walls, however if you have reactive dogs then be aware that the gates between the properties is slatted so they can see other dogs. Overall a lovely place to stay and the roadworks were not too bad with some noise but not an issue.
Jennifer
I booked this for a family get together and everyone throughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The house was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. I honestly cannot fault anything about our stay. The whole family loved it. I loved getting into the hot tub on an evening while the sun was going down. A very memorable stay. Thank you.
Had a great stay in the cottage. It really is a home from home everything you have at home is provided and of good quality. The rooms are all a great size and great for large groups to entertain the owner was really pleasant and knowledgeable about the area and places to go .The hot tub was a great place to chill all the party enjoyed there stay and asked when we going back

We stayed in the house for Christmas with our mother, children and grandchildren, 7 adults, 4 children and a baby. The house was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook a full Christmas dinner. The host even provided Christmas tablecloths, oven gloves and tea towels. The house was decorated for Christmas, including a Christmas tree. The beds were really comfortable. The lounge was a great size for 11 people to all sit together. There was a smart TV so we could watch Christmas films together. There were other TVs in the bedrooms but we did not need to use them. There were also board games and some childrens toys. Plenty of storage space in the kitchen for all our food and a big fridge freezer. The hut tub was perfect for relaxing in at the end of a busy day. Having a washer and dryer was an added bonus. There are some lovely walks around the area. We walked to the local pub which served great food. The house was very warm even though we had the heaters turned off but we were able to open windows.
A lovely cottage in a quiet area with a short walk to the local pub, where you can enjoy a great meal. Cottage was well equipped but the only thing missing was a hairdryer. Hot tub was a great experience as it was under cover, so you could use this in any weather. Garden was well looked after and plenty of room for our dog to play. Lots to do in the wider area. Would recommend a stay

Arrived with the family to celebrate my 40th, brothers 30th and mams 60ths. We had the best week for weather so spent lots of time in the garden. Very secure which was such a relief. Lots of toys there for the little ones and a lovely little football pitch for them to play on. House Very well equipped with literally everything you need. We had an issue with the freezer not freezing anything at the bottom but reported to Emma and replacement was ordered straight away. Rooms were hot but it was a heat wave everyday so house never had change to cool down. Some rooms had fans which definitely helped. Neighbour was lovely. Very helpful and maintained the garden etc to a good standard. There was a family in the cottage next door but you couldn't hear a thing. Would definitely return.
Alastair
Very nice property, with really well equipped kitchen and ideal for a large group. Well secured garden which was ideal for 3 large dogs and great hot tub with lovely views. Location was ideal for exploring South Lakes. Lovely weekend, would recommend.
However had a great time at band end barn, lovely property with everything you need! Beautiful views from the hot tub, we'll definitely be back!
Another great time at bank end barn our third time ! Three grandchildren love the hot tub and the play area for football. The house is spacious and extremely well equipped Thankyou we thouroughly enjoyed our stay! brilliant.
We stayed as a large family group. Property had everything we needed and more. Felt very safe for young family too as safety gates on all stairs etc. hot tub was great with beautiful view. Would definitely stay again.
This is a great find for south lakes holidays. Loads of space. Simple things like double the amount of crockery required means you could enjoy a meal and not worry. Every utensil you need is provided. The view from the hottub is like a framed 200 TV view of beautiful lake district hills. Close to Barrow if you need any shops. The local pub is great. Walking distance in 5 mins exactly with a good menu of home cooked food. Large portions and very friendly bar staff. The gardens are a great asset. Washing machine and tumble dryer worked well. The only very minor point to mention is that this is no outside tap for rinsing down wet suitssurfboarddogs but we managed with a bucket from the downstairs utility room. We will come back again.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home. The property is well equipped and was perfect to celebrate my husband's 60th Birthday with family.
Kirsty
We booked Bank End Barn for a family Christmas, 5 adults, 3 children and 3 dogs. We had a fantastic stay, the accommodation was lovely, stunning views and had so many personal touches such as a Christmas tree and Christmas decorations, which made it even more special and welcoming. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and everywhere was clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything we could have possibly needed and we were able to cook Christmas dinner for 8 of us without an issue. Having the whole family sitting around the beautiful kitchen table on Christmas Day was just perfect. The hot tub was another highlight and was enjoyed by both the adults and kids. The dogs also had fun swimming in the stream at the bottom of the garden. One thing to note is that the property is spread across 3 floors, the kitchen and living room is on the ground floor and the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the upper floor, and lower ground floor. One member of our family has mobility issues and getting up and down stairs can be a problem, although they managed for the duration of our stay, it is worth noting that although in the facilities list it states that there is a ground floor bedroom, which is why we booked the property, this is not actually the case. Even so it was just a minor issue and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Jackie
Same as last year when we stayed at bank end barn. We knew what to take with us to go along with what was already provided. Local pub the greyhound was as before a great place to drop in for a meal or just a few drinks after a long walk locally. Ulverston 10 minutes or so away provided everything we could require food and drinks wise with a fantastic butcher, fish monger and lots of other outlets. A cruise along the lakes had to be repeated after last years jaunt and Bowness was a great wee town to visit again. All in all again we had a great break and will very possibly be there again in the future.
Shayaan
An absolutely phenomenal holiday at Bank End Barn with my family. Everything was in fact more than expected and completely worth the money paid. Amazing and functional facilities , lovely views , gigantic hot tub, comfortable bedding, large fridge and a well maintained , well organised place of stay. Would indoubtly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to go Lake District as for the low price, it is by far the best cottage we have ever been to. Thank you once again for everything and we will definitely be booking again soon.
Joanna
Very comfortable and well equipped with safe enclosed garden for the dogs. We particularly enjoyed using the hot tub. only snags 1. lack of clearly signposted local dog walks that could be walked from the house 2. lack of charge point for electric vehicle but we enjoyed the Old Kings Head in Broughton while using the local ev charge point!
We had a lovely stay at Bank End Barn and it made a great base for exploring the Lake District. We even saw a lovely moon rise from the hot tub. It was great that there were a few kids' toys and books in the property, and a nice bit of space for playing outside there's also a play park within walking distance, just by the Greyhound Pub. Having stair gates in the property was also really useful. Thanks for a lovely stay, which was excellent value for money.
Deborah
We had a great time at the barn with superb weather. The house is very well equipped, the only things we felt would be useful additions were a hand mixer and some garden chairs we brought our own.
Amazing property, brilliant stay.
Alastair
The personal welcome Email from the owner before we arrived was a lovely touch. On entering the property we knew this was going to be a home from home and we soon settled in. This stay was for my youngest Daughters 30th birthday and to have all the family there inc the 5 dogs, we couldn't have asked for more. The property is spacious and well balanced with all you would ever need. Hot tub was fab and well used. Would highly recommend this property for a good chill. Never did get to the local which comes highly recommended for atmosphere and great food.Dog friendly

We had a wonderful stay! The views from the barn were beautiful and the garden was great for the kids too. We would love to come back and stay for longer!
The property was ideal, lovely and comfortable and plenty of utensils for every occasion. There is ample room for a large party. We had a fantastic time.
We had a lovely stay. Just as other reviews it was lovely and warm. The utility room an excellent provision. Hot tub brilliant. Enjoyed local walks and the Greyhound pubrestaurant lovely food although they struggled with card reader and we couldnt eat there on our last night as wed run out of actual cash and nearest cash machine was miles away. Very enjoyable stay for our family.
Debbie
Just returned from a week in this lovely cottage celebrating my husbands 60th Birthday. There was plenty of room for 7 adults and 2 dogs. The cottage had everything we needed to make it home from home. There was a slight hiccup when we first arrived with twin beds not being connected to make a Super King. I contacted Sykes Cottages at 5.55pm when we arrived, they contacted the owner straight away, and called me back. By 6.20 the owner arrived, stripped the beds, and made into a super king! We were happy to wait until the next day, but nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service throughout. We visited Silecroft Beach and also many areas around the Lakes. Perfect location to explore the Western Lakes and Coastal paths. I feel the cottage would benefit from having access to the back of the house to take off muddy boots and coats and leave downstairs rather than stepping through the front door onto a lovely carpet. Would definitely recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday with lovely views, clear skies to see the stars, and hot tub to top it all off!
Suzanne
Lovely holiday cottage suited our needs perfectly! Excellent location for mountainslakes as well as beaches. Owners were very accommodating when having to rebook due to covid lockdowns. Hot tub was a lovely added bonus which was in a really nice shelter.
We had a fantastic week. Thank you. Kind regards Jane Carter
Everything we needed was there. Good hot tub. Would definitely book again
Michael
The location and layout of the property suited our needs perfectly for the family celebration we had planned.
