Turnip House Reviews

Louise
Beautiful home We stayed for a big family get together and it was perfect for what we needed. The grounds were beautiful and plenty to do for all ages. Only negative I would say its advertised as having a hot tub and hasnt got one it had a jacuzzi within the pool you pay for so thats very misleading on the advertisement of the home.
We had an amazing stay here at the Turnip house! The only things I can say is it states there is a hot tub but there was not! And also as a family we thought the swimming prices were a bit steep! Considering the price we payed to stay here we thought the pool would have been cheaper! But all in all we had an amazing time and the place was so nice!
I do not even know where to start! We had the nicest Christmas away, we even brought our parrot and dog with us, they loved it as much as us! The games rooms were brilliant, the kids loved it nearly as much as us adults
Brittany
We loved our stay, the perfect home away from home. We also really appreciated the festive decorations you went to the effort of putting up throughout the house, definitely made our stay more special and cosy would absolutely come back again!
A completely faultless trip we had soooo much fun. The house was bigger and better than I had imagined, it was so warm and cozy, rooms were a good size and very clean, lounge was large and great for evenings with a big group. The christmas trees and decorations were a lovely touch for the christmas period too. The pool is an absolute must it was private, spacious, great music and lights too, we just had the best time in there. We also loved the quirk of the farm animals and the go karts. In short there's so much to do at this place and myself and my friends had the best weekend and will definitley be coming back.

It was a lovely property, very comfortable and inviting. The facilities were great and had everything we could have needed, didnt end up using half of the utility things we brought like cloths and cleaning sprays. The oven could have done with a clean as whoever used it last had some overspill that was baked to the bottom and burnt when we used it causing a lot of smoke, had to cook with the extractor on full and doors and windows open. Also the oven didnt cook things fast and could do with a new one. The extra game facilities were very fun and well equipped, we would have liked some outdoor lighting as we visited during the winter months and getting to the other buildings we had to use torches to avoid tripping on the cobbles and manoeuvering cars in that dark was extremely difficult. Our main concern with this property would be the roads on approach as they were single lane and not in great condition, we took to going very slowly as some of the bumps and pot holes were causing our cars to bottom out if we were not careful and on the way back we did have a car die and are not sure if the brutal roads contributed to that however there issues were not the fault of the house just a little warning to others. In summary though we had a wonderful time and would consider visiting again.
ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS THE AMOUNT OF FLIES

Amazing location and scenery. Cosy yet spacious. Just the getaway we wanted.
Sara was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area giving us guidance about the best cycle routes The pool was a great additional feature for our weekend despite the additional cost. Thank you
Beautiful house in lovely surroundings, great facilities.
Very thoughtful things left around like items for the dog, lots of games for outdoors.
Louise
Beautiful and quirky property. Bedding good quality, singles and king fine sizing wise but double definitely a small and not great for a couple. Showers adequate, did not use the bath. Owners and facilities were great, kids loved the freedom of going from the court, to the games rooms. Pool nice but expensive. Overall a beautiful setting with great facilities for the kids and we enjoyed our stay.
Turnip House was terrific and very cosy, warm and comfortable and well equipped it was like going in to someone's house rather than a holiday let. Dogs were made very welcome. Anything that went wrong toaster or we that needed ice was attended to immediately. There was plenty of fridge space. The spa was great and walks round the farm etc were good and tennis court although we didn't have time to use it. There was lots of information about walks in the area. Good location. Ice trays could be provided in the freezer to avoid the necessity to ask for ice. G&T's are not the same without ice! The mattresses on the single beds were quite soft I don't know about the double beds. Personally I have a bad back and prefer a firm mattress which are much more comfortable. But otherwise fabulous!

My family of 5 had the most wonderful stay. A beautiful house, with every amenity you could wish for. The owners were super attentive. We had a small issue which was resolved within minutes. We did not want to go home. We would highly recommend this place for a minimum of a long weekend, or like us a week. We wish we could have stayed for 2. Fantastic place.
A great place to spend time with a family of different ages. Lots to do with 2 games rooms ,tennis court, go carts and the most amazing swimming pool. The house itself was full of games and books for all ages . Our grandchildren of 8,15 and 18 years were never bored . Sara the owner was most helpful.
What a fab place for a get together with our friends. Sara made us very welcome with lovely extra touches like fresh flowers. Turnip House was well appointed, comfortable, and cosy and warm for a January break. The additional facilities of the games room were brilliant. The pool and gym complex were something else. We also enjoyed walking to the lakes on the property which would be great to use in the summer. Paish is a brilliant location for lots of walks and exploring Shropshire.
Excellent property, comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. Facilities excellent too and in a lovely location.
Beautiful location, lovely touch with fresh flowers. Great facilities for the children. Our grandson really enjoyed feeding the pigs, goats, chickens and pony. Spa and pool modern, well equipped but expensive to use. On arrival the accommodation was very clean. Bedrooms were small but beds comfortable. Some furniture needs replacing as it is now not as comfortable as it could be. Some outside furniture would also benefit from being replaced. A rather strange smell in the kitchen that seemed to come from the sink area and when using the vacuum there was also a terrible smell. Overall Turnip House is good for families with younger children with glorious views over the Shropshire Countryside.
Kathryn
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
In many years of selfcatering holidays across the UK I can honestly say that Turnip House is one of those rare properties that exceeds all expectations. The photos on the Sykes booking web site are exactly what you get and, if anything, don't do justice to the whole property and its immediate surroundings. As to level of equipment I've never stayed in a property that's been so well equipped, with everything a group of 8 might need. The booking details said towels were not provided but in fact they were so maybe worth checking with the owner Sara who's very friendly and helpful if that's always the case, since towels are bulky to bring. The only thing I don't really like is that the hob is electric induction, which I think is standard these days I guess for health and safety etc. Much prefer gas. Also, Turnip House is on a working farm with sheep, which means there may be some flies. Duvets are also a little think for hot summer nights. But all in all, 10 out of 10

Very comfortable, and everything that we needed was provided.
Spot on . . great place
We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend. The owners are on site, and were extremely helpful and attentive, without being overbearing. The conversion itself was incredible really spacious, beautifully decoratedfurnished and luxurious. Eight of us stayed at the property, for a special anniversary, and it served our purpose perfectly. We enjoyed the 2 mile walk across the farmlandwoodland, to the lakes and the exclusive poolgym hire is well worth the extra money. We loved it. We also loved feeding the animals, and the games room was such a fun addition, bringing out the competitive side to all! We just wished wed booked for another night! The whole holiday was fantastic and we would love to return one day. It really is a place to form special memories memories that will always stay with us as a family. Thank you.
We had a fabulous stay! Lovely spacious cottage and wellequipped in a lovely setting.
Jeannette
Turnip House provided us with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Lots of activities for the children around the property and they loved visiting the animals. I didnt find the description on the Sykes website as fulsome as it could have been. If you had shared the list of items provided I wouldnt have brought tennis rackets, umbrellas, extra washing up liquid toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets etc.
Andrew
We had an excellent holiday. The cottage and the facilities are very good. Whilst there is plenty to do in the surrounding area, it was very easy to spend a relaxing day at the cottage, enjoying the farm and spa.
Sandra
Had lovely relaxing few days.
Excellent property in beautiful Shropshire countryside. These barns have been converted really nicely, leaving original beams, walls and high ceilings, and adding very comfortable furnishings. The onsite games, gokarts and poolgym were great too. Really enjoyed our stay.
Turnip House was beautiful and cosy, perfect for a family get together. Really well equipped, great outside space and walks and a lovely pool. We hope to go back and do it all again.
We absolutely loved our stay at the farm. Beautiful surroundings and incredible facilities. The pool area really made it special and relaxing. We will definitely be back! Thank you!
We stayed for an extended family half term week in Turnip Cottage. The residence was immaculate. Warm, secure and cosy. There was everything we could need for a comfortable stay including a well appointed kitchen, WiFi, loads of books and maps and a decent TV. The facilities at the farm were stunning animals to visit and feed, a wonderful multisport area where even go karts were available for the kids to pedal around on. The leisure complex was wonderful and we made good use of the lovely pool. The area is well placed for lovely country walks from the doorstep or further afield, visits to tourist attractions like Ironbridge, bustling towns like Much Wenlock or cities such as the lovely Shrewsbury. We've had a wonderful time, the kids settled in immediately pretty amazing given their additional needs and have gained so much confidence. We can't wait to return!
Samantha
Truly amazing stay. Well equipped, cosy cottage. Poolrelaxation area brilliant. Hosts very friendly and attentive. Loved the animals, collecting eggs fresh every day and feeding pigs. Visited Shrewsbury prison where Sean Bean spent 'Time'. Lovely independent shops in church stretton. Can recommend the blueberry pancakes with bacon and syrup at 'Berry's cafe'
Matthew
Perfect holiday to suit 3 generations from 7 to 70. Exceptionally wellequipped. Sara and family extremely welcoming and friendly. Cleared up minor niggles TV promptly. Thoughtful, good quality extras games, swimming pool, animals etc kept all of us entertained.
Angela
Super owner Sara who was really helpful, welcoming and solicitius. Great swimming pool and facilities for the children aged 9 and 8. Lovely area.
Heather
We have just returned from a brilliant family holiday at Turnip House. The cottage itself was lovely and spacious, but also very cosy and comfortable we loved the combination of the traditional features together with all mod cons. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the homemade cakes and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. It was an ideal base for a family holiday, as the children had so much do on the farm itself they were very excited to feed the pigs and collect eggs from the chickens they played on the go carts and sandpit and loved all the space to run around. There's loads of land to explore, including a lovely 2 mile circular walk with waterside picnic area and lovely views. The owner Sara was really helpful in suggesting local things to do and on hand to deal with any requests. We had a couple of sessions at the swimming pool, which was stunning, and Sara even organised a local therapist to do hot stone massages for my husband and I in the spa area which was out of this world! We really couldn't fault the place and would love to go back again. Thanks Sara for making our stay so lovely
Matthew
Great cottage on farm with excellent facilities. We really enjoyed our family stay and Shropshire is a beautiful part of the country we are hoping to return on a dryer week! Lots of facilities for children on site we have twin 10 year olds. Pool and gym complex is great slightly frustrating can only use in limited hours and its extra cost.
We stayed in Turnip House for a family holiday with our children and dog. The cottage was spotless, comfy beds, really spacious and catered for our every need. There are two outdoor dining areas with a BBQ, seating for 8 indoors and so many different areas to sit and relax. There were fresh flowers on arrival in two rooms and had a lovely call from the owner before arrival and lovely greeting when we arrived. The pool is amazing very clean and well catered with towels, music system and seating. The kids loved the animals the best the pigs were absolutely adorable and we loved feeding them on a daily basis we had to apologise as they are likely double the weight they were before we arrived. The horses, sheep and goats are lovely too. And my son collected eggs most days from the chickens. There is also a 2 mile walk to a pond with boat on the farm premises it was idyllic. Would love to return again it was the most relaxing time. Highly recommended.
Stephen
Excellent holiday in every respect
Carlos
Great cottage. Very pretty with a great family room for everyone to hang out in. Really pretty walks nearby. Also enjoyed seeing the pigs and horses and chickens right next to cottage. Oh and a host that came to help find us at midnight on a Friday night doesnt get more hospitable than that.
A fabulous top quality place for the family! Everything was there that we needed and more. Attention to detail, fresh flowers in every room, lots of lovely toiletries, a very well equipped kitchen, beautiful interior design and absolutely loads of space both in our barn but also with the wonderful games rooms and outdoor play areas, great! The kids loved feeding the pigs, goats and chickens plus collecting eggs in the morning. The only down side, we thought the spapool was part of the deal..note it is not even though the photos are on the key info...it is separate at 40min per two hours 10 each and only two sessions per day available to book, very disappointed as wed planned for the kids to swim each day, in the end we went in once which was a real shame. It is beautiful but rather expensive on top of the cost of the holiday.
