Trooper's Barn Reviews

Ginetta
This house was perfect for our family's needs. There was plenty of room in the livingroom and the bedrooms were ample with comfortable beds. The kitchen was fully equipped with lots of counter space for preparing and serving meals. The hot tub was well used in the mixed weather. The only down side for my husband is that one of the toilets did not have a soft close lid.
A fantastic family stay over Christmas. Beautifully decorated for the holiday, and a lovely welcome of mince pies and mulled wine. Clean, warm and comfortable accommodation. Lovely hot tub and gym. Excellent support from Chloe at Westhope. Would recommend and stay again. Suggestion for maintenance the towel and cup holders in the bathrooms were loose and kept dropping.
Michelle
We hired 3 properties for a family gathering of 22 people and could not have been happier. It has been an amazing stay and we will be booking again in 2026.
Olliey
Very spacious with a warm and inviting atmosphere, well equipped to accommodate a large group doing various activities, be it board games, lounging in front of a movie or enjoying the stars from the hot tub. Well worth the cost.
Anne-marie
Great property that was perfect for us. The cake was lovely and very thoughtful. The house was very clean and all the rooms were set up exactly how we had asked them to be. Good facilities in the kitchen and the games room and gym were a super extra feature that we used well. We loved the hot tub too. There was a seal missing from the shower screen in the upstairs bathroom so we put extra towels down as water did leak from it and the skylight window in the little bedroom upstairs was tricky to close as the pole wasnt long enough. Other than those very minor issues we thought it was ideal. We did think the 9.30 checkout was very early compared to other properties we have stayed but we managed. It was a tad tricky getting there down those very narrow roads but did only take 29mins to get to Ludlow which was lovely. Thank you for your hospitality.

TROOPERS BARN is a wonderful place to stay. We were a mixed party of 9 and it worked perfectly for us. TROOPERS BARN is one of 9 properties on the complex and all have use of the games room. The other properties vary greatly in size. Set in beautiful Shropshire rolling hills. Highly recommended
Rosalind
Great cottage, well stocked everything you need, very clean, lots of room, well decorated the cake, chocolate and wine much appreciated and tasty.
Perfect stay for 10 of us, 2 families with teens. Beautiful area, great information pack including shorter and longer walks perfect hosts. Milk, chocolate and Victoria sponge were such a lovely welcome treat thank you! Beds were comfy, games room great for us. Needs 50p for the pool and could do with new tips on the cues but otherwise fab. Would definately go back. Only thing wed change was a slightly earlier check in if possible and definately a later check out 9.30 is very early and we packed most things Thurs eve which took the edge off Thurs. Appreciate its a large place to prep for the next renters though and the team were so lovely when we were rushing to pack the car in time!
Natalie
Absolutely perfect stay. Great location for what we required very comfortable very spacious for large group. Couldnt have asked for more.
Celebrating a 40 th and a 4th birthday. A family of 11 were accommodated in comfort. Spacious warm and welcoming. Thank you for the delicious cake and wine. Communication was good from start to finish. Toy tea cups were found despite every one looking for them. A thumbs up to the housekeeping team. Will be back for the next big birthday.
Nicola
Nice property layout so all 11 of us could relax in same main room on sofas in front of fire or playing games on table. Not always the case with larger properties. All rooms warm enough in the cold weather. Kitchen loads of cooking equipment and good crockery, glasses, proper size cups etc great, but large knives are all blunt so these need to be sharpened replaced to be able to chop veggies safely. Some cooking things needed a quick wash before use. Very disappointed that there was a charge for pool table and not the best condition weve come across either, including cues, chalk etc did not see this on listing, only welcome video. Unfortunately we didnt get to use it on sat night due to others playing, but appreciate these things happen just not had this before at this time of year we have booked shared and sole games rooms in properties for past 12 years, also a little walk to shared games room so bit wet in the rain. Gym looked good but not used. Hot tub great, nice and warm, with access just out of the main room. 9.30 am checkout is too early for us, so this along with shared games room and cost to play pool would put us off booking this location again
Beverley
What a fantastic place to have Christmas with all the family! As someone mentioned in another review, some of the beds were a little tired but overall the place was very clean and every eventuality had been thought about. We didn't use the Hot Tub so can't comment on that. The table was so big and the sofas very comfortable. The kitchen was well equiped however the one gripe was the oven which although looked big struggled to take many of the trays. Luckily we brought disposable tin foil trays which we always do! which fitted. The wet room was well equipped and everything we asked for was delivered. There was ample parking, the boys used the Gym most days and the ramp for our wheelchair was perfect. A great place to stay!

We love Troopers Barn. .staff are absolutely fantastic. We had a problem with the TV . Staff couldnt be more helpful. Lovely cottage, all kitchen equipment you could want. Plenty of plates, cutlery etc. wine glasses could be bigger.
Jackie, the housekeeper was a great help with any minor problems, giving advice ... Jackie, the housekeeper was a great help with any minor problems, giving advice on local services when of the guests had problems with a flat tyre, also providing kindling for the barbecue she is a great credit to your company
The property was super spacious, wellequipped and clean, exactly as advertised. The additional thought to the little things was really nice the barbecue kit, the dog towels and treats etc. Nice touch with the welcome cake and wine. The visitor information was clear and informative. The maintenance and care available during our stay were excellent and the staff were happy and friendly. If anything, the beds mattresses were a little tired and the pillows weren't good nice pillows would have made a difference. However, we loved our stay and would love to come again. Thank you
We had a very comfortable stay at the property, ideally situated and everything we needed at hand.
Fantastic stay in Troopers cottage. Would highly recommend this to anyone.
Lovely cottage, that was comfortable, spacious and clean. Perfect for a gathering. Excellent location as well
Joanna
The property was very wellequipped and clean. It was tastefully decorated and furnished with very comfortable beds and plenty of space. I would thoroughly recommend this property.
Lovely holiday cottage perfect for large groups. Very social living space, nice to be able to sit everyone around the dining table. We had two young children with us, the stair gates, high chair and bed guard were great touches. Hot tub is amazing, although it wasn't up to temperature on our first night. Generally really clean throughout, some dust on the floor in the living room but otherwise spotless. Would definitely come back.
Elizabeth
Will not be booking again. Very disappointing customer service when dealing with a complaint. Hot tub was not working for most of our trip due to an electrical fault on the part of the owners. Lots of rules and regulations and fines for customers using hot tub, but not a lot of acknowledgment of owners fault. Refund was offered but was an insult. We booked the accommodation solely for the purpose of the hot tub.
The accommodation was fantastic. We had a problem with our heating on the first night and both Chloe and Fiona were brilliant in helping to find a solution. First class customer service with a smile. We enjoyed the Games Room and our hot tub. Some fabulous walks in the area too.
From the moment we walked in to a welcome of cake, wine and chocolate until we left with a friendly word with the cleaner we could not have wished for better holiday accommodation. Comfortable beds, quality equipment and facilities everything we needed for our group of 6 adults and 4 children and really useful information about the cottage and the area. The shared gym and games room was enjoyed by us all although we couldn't use the snooker table as none of us had a 50p coin and after exploring the beautiful country side the hot tub was bliss!!
We really enjoyed our stay we found Troopers Barn ideal accommodation of a high standard for our families. We found it in a lovely location with lots of walksbike rides for different abilities. There was also lots of choice of interesting things to do in the area. The games room was a great facility for families. We would definitely recommend it and come again
Excellent Accommodation Comfortable and well equipped
Deborah
Lovely stay.
Troopers Barn was perfect for our family holiday. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. We had a couple of minor problems whilst we were there which were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. We can highly recommend this lovely property to anyone wanting a family holiday.
This was our second time staying at Troopers Barn. We chose to stay again as we felt the first time that it had everything we needed and it didn't disappoint this time. We were a group of friends travelling with vintage cars, there was plenty of parking space and some lovely quiet roads around to explore. The accommodation was very clean and we were provided with good information before our trip. A lovely weekend helped by the good weather !!
Great stay with friends. The barn gave us ample amounts of room and we had a lovely time. Great space for large groups. The only downside was that we couldnt get the tv in the living room to work. Not the end of the world, but was a slight inconvenience.
Very clean and well equipped to a high standard. Enough to keep the whole family occupied for our 4 night ' stay.
Beautiful barn conversion, great family weekend away, property was exactly as stated in the write up. Spaceous and comfy. Nice touch with complimentary wine, and cake. Kitchen was very well equipped, coffee, tea, milk, foil, dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid all provided. Just one little problem 9.30am check out is far too early with a family especially when you have two small babies, would have loved to have had relaxed breakfast before our journey home to finish off a splendid weekend. Dad's and children loved the games room
Brilliant accommodation. Staff great, keen to help. Due to storms we had power cut, Chloe and her team were one hand with kettles, stoves lights etc...
We absolutely loved Troopers Barn! From the first moment we walked in and found wine and cake ready to welcome us! The place was spotless, and amazing for family groups with children. Our little ones loved exploring the house and playing hide and seek. Our bigger ones loved the games room, chilling in the big lounge in the evenings with everyone watching movies, and the hot tub. The countryside is beautiful. We had an amazing time, thank you!
We had a brilliant time staying at troopers lodge! It was everything that we wanted and more! All the guests had a lovely time! I would highly recommend this accommodation to everyone!
Beverley
Accommodation was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, excellent week, would recommend
Troopers Barn was an ideal propery for our needs. 4 branches of our family got together after all doing covid tests. The propery was spacious and very well equiped. The outside space at the rear of the property was great for bbq's and a lot of use was made of the hot tub.
Nicola
Could do with a decent frying pan and decent pillows.
The accomodation was lovely and exceeded my expectations. The games room could benefit from some updating equipment and games are not in great condition, but it was still very enjoyable and I would stay there again.
