This property was in a lovely location. It was bliss to sit in the hot tub with such gorgeous views of the countryside! The house itself was spacious, well equipped and very homely. We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners were incredibly helpful and welcoming. We highly recommend this property and the location.

Had a wonderful stay. Very relaxing. If you want to switch off from normal day to day then this is where to go! Pool table for the kids was a bonus.
Richard
Absolutely superb, everything we needed and more! Very clean, lovely bedding and towels. Lovely Hot tub with fantastic views. We have stayed in many cottages and this was up there with the best. The owner Ross is very friendly and quick to help if needed. The area is fantastic. We can recommend Drumlanrig Castle and Bainloch Deer Park. Thanks for our stay, we will be back!
Miranda
Had a great stay at The Steading. The property had everything we needed with 2 babies, stair gates, high chair and cot. The rooms were lovely and it was so nice to have a bathroom for each bedroom. Hot tub and patio was great and the view was lovely.
I booked a week for my mams 80th. The property was stunning with everything you need and more even to the point that i had forgot my hairdryer and the next morning 3 were provided along with hair straighteners. Even though the actual holiday did not go as planned with my mam falling and breaking her hip on the 2nd day so hospital visits and stress ended up the theme for the holiday!!! but the owner could not have been nicer or more helpful an exemplary host nothing seemed to much trouble. The Hottub and Views are amazing. Even the Weather was great. Its modern spacious clean well maintained basically everything you need for a Super break away.
Dominic
Really enjoyed the bank holiday weekend here just the two of us so had plenty of space the house itself is beautiful and in a really nice tranquil area. Ross the host was above and beyond the call of duty. Sent helpful videos and was only a WhatsApp message away from helping. Plenty of supermarkets and shops takeaways etc only 5 minutes away. House is perfect for families but also nice for couples the hot tub seems in a peculiar spot but with the view its perfect. So overall lovely house and well worth a visit
We Love staying at the Steading, The owner is one of the best hosts we have met in over 20 years of staying on the UK for short breaks. We have 2 small dogs and they love running around the courtyard off their leads. The Steading is great has plenty of room for all the family and all furnishings are all of a very high standard, we have stayed here twice now and are looking forward to booking our next stay.
From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we can't fault anything. There were some minor little bits that need attention, but that's to be expected with any property. It was spacious allowing the family to have their own space. We were not under each other's feet at all. The host, Ross, was excellent, very friendly and just left us to it. He even offered to walk the dogs through the forests, although we managed to wear them out on a daily basis. It was great to find everything anyone could need on their holidays from a pair of scissors to crayons for the kids and plenty of books to read and games to play. The view from the hot tub was spectacular, and a great location to meet the neighbours. Space for parking cars was plentyful. The field opposite was a quick fix to run the dogs and wear them out. Two friendly sheep in neighbouring field, curious to see what you were up to. Being in a secluded location was simply perfect. Wouldn't hesitate to return to this fabulous property.
Simone
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at The Steading. The accommodation was extremely spacious and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful extras included. The pool table and hot tub really made it extra special and the views from the property are stunning. It's a lovely, peaceful area with domesticated horses in the nearby field. My grown up kids enjoyed going to visit them and the sheep everyday. We were very lucky with the weather but it would still be an exceptional place to stay if it was raining, as plenty to do indoors. We appreciated all the different sections in the property, so everyone could do their own thing if they so wished, which is great if you have older kids or teenagers. The host, Ross was very friendly and helpful and we would love to return sometime. I would highly recommend to those seeking comfort and relaxation.
Fantastic property, stayed for a week and enjoyed the peaceful location. The property is extremely spacious and very comfortable. Very close to Dumries and lots of things to do in the area. Ross was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed
Had a lovely family break away here in February 2026. Very comfortable and clean with plenty of space and amenities for all 6 of us plus 2 dogs to chill and relax as we wished from playing pool, enjoying the hot tub or playing outside in the large yard area. Everyone in our party Aged from 3 years old to 90 years old enjoyed staying at the Steading and would book again. Great communication and check ins from Ross Thanks for a lovely break and the welcome package that was left for us to enjoy.
The Steading is an incredible property. It is furnished and decorated to a lovely high standard and gives the feel of luxury and country life beautifully. Ross the owner could not have been more helpful, he was approachable, kind and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We didn't want to leave and have already started to look for next year. Thank you so much Ross, you really are a superb host and if you ever sell the property please give me first refusal as it is literally my dream!
The Steading is a lovely, warm and cozy getaway with plenty of space to really unwind and relax. It's well cared for and the owner is very helpful and helps you get settled with ease. We were looking for an escape and we got it at The Steading, with care given from arrival with the finer details including the chocolates on you pillows to the having milk in the fridge. A place we would happily return too.
Had a lovely time staying at the Steadings in Terregles accommodation was top ... Had a lovely time staying at the Steadings in Terregles accommodation was top class and Ross was an excellent host highly recommended
The steading is a lovely property with ample space for 6. It is clean and tidy with good sized rooms. Beds are comfy, all be it a bit low. The hot tub is amazing but it could be doing with some sort of privacy screen. Felt a bit exposed, although once ur in it relaxing u don't care. The ensuites are beautifully presented. There is ample equipment in the kitchen and plenty towels and bedding provided. All in all I would not hesitate in recommending this property. Beautiful location with only a short drive into Dumfries
We were all very sad to leave this fantastic property! Lovely location, clean, welcoming and plenty of space to spend time together but also have a bit of our own time! The property was really well equipped and furnished to a high standard. It had everything we needed and more! Ross was an attentive host who clearly cares about his guests and their experiences and was available to offer advice and recommendations about places to gosights to see! It was lovely to have some basics as well as some treats! left for us on arrival so we didnt immediately have to go shopping! Would 110 recommend The Steading to anyone and hope to be back!
A fabulous home to relax in after exploring a beautiful area! The facilities are luxurious and beautifully presented, and our host, Ross, was so welcoming and friendly, well definitely be back to stay again.

A lovely property rural location well equipped everything you need doorstep walks or cycling and good base to go exploring Dumfries and Galloway lovely views peaceful and quiet and the owner Ross excellent was very welcoming and helpful thanks again highly recommended for that nice peaceful getaway
Fantastic property, ideal location. Fitted out to a very high standard, everything you could need was supplied. Lovely touches including a perfect welcome gift of goodies, much appreciated. Ross very helpful, nothing too much bother. Found our new happy place and will be back. Thanks Ross.
We booked this as a last minute thing as our other holiday had been cancelled and we are so glad we did. The Steading is simply perfect, everything you read and more. A few hours before we arrived we recieved welcome whatsapps from the owner Ross, explaining how to get there, how to find things around steading, explaining he had left some basic food so if we needed to make a quick tea once we arrived we could. This made for a great welcome and we knew what to expect. The Steading is simply stunning and very spacious. It has everything you need and more, it even as a drying cupboard which was a great addition especially on wet days. The pool table, games, table tennis, telescope, board games and books all made rainy days easy. The hot tub is massive and has the most amazing views, we could get lost in there watching the world go by. The location is perfect, you wouldn't think you were only 8mins from civilisation. There are some amazing beaches and great restaurants within 30mins drive. Now to the star of the show the owner Ross, the best host we have ever had , nothing was too much trouble and he even set up a basket ball net for my youngest to play. He was at hand if anything came up whilst giving you the space you need. He has a wealth of knowledge and recommended some fantastic eateries and local walks We had the absolute best time and feel nice and relaxed ready to tackle the world again Highly recommend and we will definitely be back Just asked my 7yr old what he like the most and he said obviously the basketball net and hottub, but i also loved the bar bit where i ate my tea that was amazing enough said 5 star plus
Had a fantastic 5 night stay at The Steading. A wonderfully maintained property that was fully equipped with everything you need and more. Extremely spacious and clean, with a great view from the hot tub! The owner, Ross, provided very helpful videos ahead of our arrival and also welcomed us with a tour of the property and lots of helpful information. The weather was a little hit and miss but there was plenty of space to occupy ourselves with the offerings of board games, films and books when we had a cold rainy day inside. The welcome goodies on arrival were a very thoughtful touch, as well as dressing gowns, slippers and chocolates for all. If youre looking for a relaxing stay in a very spacious and luxurious property, we highly recommend The Steading. Thank you for a great stay Ross, you went above and beyond and nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to returning soon!!
