Pippinwell Reviews

A very enjoyable stay in a lovely, solid oldfashioned cottage. The pool and the games facilities are excellent, but are shared with other guests.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The games room and pool were a godsend on some days. Whilst the property had a couple of technical issues, these were quickly resolved. Would thoroughly recommend.
Amanda
Delightful cottage in great location. Four beds all with ensuite were a bonus. Went for a Special Birthday Celebration, it was truly memorable. The swimming pool and games room were a massive hit, especially with my granddaughters, and having the pool all to ourselves on both occasions made the holiday.

Before I mention things I didnt like I should say I would stay here again. The cottage is a little dated especially the flamingo bathroom. The pool has a tide mark and could do with a clean. Bring your own balls if you want to ping pong! Positives. Kitchen was well equipped, lounge was comfy, bedding was good quality, plenty of hot water. We are emtbers and were worried about the busy road but every route we road got off of that road after 100m. Never did find the bike storage, we just locked our bikes up outside the cottage. Oh on arrival would be good to have a sign post to tell us which way to wander for our cottage, we just kept looking at doors until we found the right one.

Location excellent Cleanliness no complaints Accommodation comfortable although just to note for anyone who has a disabled person in the party, the ground floor does have some steps into kitchen, lounge and downstairs bedroom. Amenities everything you need The only negative issue we had was that the rest of the cottages had been taken over by a large group who effectively took over the pool and games room meaning these were effectively out of bounds for us. Not a major issue especially given the wonderful weather we had, and something that couldnt be helped, but just to advise others who may be in the same position. I would still highly recommend to anyone but with the above caveat.
Louise
We had a brilliant time at Pippinwell. The cottage was lovely, well stocked and perfect for what we needed. Beds were super comfy! Pool and games room were ideal for the kids. Loved visiting nearby Bakewell. Already booked again for next year!
Steven
We have had a wonderful time at the lodging everything was as described apart from the view. That was even better! Would highly recommend the cottages to anyone looking to get away from the fat pace of life and slow down and relax.
Maureen
Excellent stay everything was spot on very clean and lovely and warm will definitely be back
The cottage and complex facilities were beautifully maintained and very presentable, all that we could wish for to celebrate a special family birthday. The interior design of the individual bedrooms was selective to individual taste but clean and fresh. The maintenance manager Mark was extremely helpful and very approachable to assist us during our stay, thank you. My only recommendation would be to better signpost the cottages on the busy main road A5055 for those arriving at night, as Sat Nav guides you elsewhere. A thoroughly pleasant stay.
The property was not as clean as expected, there are several maintenance problems and no kitchen utensils
First rate facilities with wonderful swimming pool ,games room and large field area with grass well known to play cricket and football, etc. .
Claire
What a lovely holiday with great facilities. If I could offer anything it would be that a large towel and small hand towel per person would be nice. Us ladies like to use one on our hair too. Small one pint of milk just so when we land from the south coast it would have been nice to have a cuppa before going out to find the shops
Suzanne
Lovely property and pool!
Elizabeth
The property is beautiful, and is in a perfect location near to Bakewell. The house was clean and the beds were comfy, and the shared pool was a real bonus! Our hosts were so helpful, coming to help with the extra requests wed made for the baby. We will definitely be booking to come again next year, thank you!
Elizabeth
One of the bedrooms didn't have a window as apparently it had broken in the storm. We weren't told about this before our arrival, or offered any compensation which was disappointing for a house costing this much. Also, the ovens only had one shelf between them which made it very difficult to make use of both ovens. Again, very disappointing for a house that we paid a lot of money for. The kitchen was really too small for 8 people, not helped by the very large chairs around the table. Perhaps someone can offer us some money back for the bedroom that was in complete darkness for the whole of our stay? Many thanks Elizabeth Elizabeth
Lovely cottage which we would consider renting again. Swimming pool and games room added extra fun to our stay. Not far from Chatsworth which we visited for their Christmas lights. Would recommend this cottage but would add that the TV needs updating and the heating was set quite hot.

Had a wonderful stay. The place is rural but beautiful. Near Bakewell and so very convenient. The indoor pool was warm and lovely.Very well equipped kitchen. Bedding and towels were clean and comfortable. My only advice is the address provided on the Sykes website takes us to the farm and we all struggled to find the right place. If you put the address as Bakewell Retreats on google maps it takes us to the right place.
