The Fox Den Reviews

The photos for The Fox Den do not do it justice. It is in a beautiful setting with stunning views in every direction, it's peaceful, lots of wildlife around, comfortable, very well appointed and clean. And although you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, it's not actually that far from Yeovil. The garden is secure, so you wouldn't have to worry about your furry family members getting out, and Tim, the owner is lovely. We literally cannot fault it and are already looking at returning next year. The only advice I would give is if the weather is likely to be very hot when you go, you might want to take a fan or two with you. We loved our time at The Fox Den and really didn't want to leave. Can't wait to be back there!

What a wonderful place! Back to nature with all the creature comforts Fully recommend this property, we will definitely be back
What an absolutely stunning property in an idyllic location. The views were amazing from every angle and the stars at night were too. The accommodation is spotless and very comfortable. We would highly recommend and cant wait to hopefully return again.
The Fox Den is a credit to its owners Tim and Kathy. They have thought of everything. The property is just beautiful and in a stunning location. The bedrooms are cosy with super comfy beds. The lounge is a lovely room to relax in of an evening. The kitchen, lounge dinner was our favourite room. Unwinding in the hot tub after a day out exploring the area was perfect. Watching and listening to the wildlife to star gazing in the evening and seeing shooting stars. Cant wait to come back. Thank you.

We recently stayed at Fox Den in Somerset and I can honestly say it is one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in! We have booked a number of properties through Sykes over the years and unfortunately cleanliness has often been an issue elsewhere, but Fox Den absolutely knocked it out of the park. The cottage was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and clearly maintained to an incredibly high standard. It is a beautifully restored property and you can really see the care and attention that has gone into transforming it when you look through the photos showing what it used to look like. It is now a highend luxury cottage that still keeps all of its charm. The space both inside and outside is fantastic. The rooms are all generously sized, especially the bedrooms, and its great that each bedroom has its own ensuite, with an additional downstairs shower room if needed. The layout works brilliantly and makes it very comfortable for everyone staying. One thing we particularly appreciated was the two separate living areas. One is perfect if you have dogs with you, while the other is a more secluded sitting room with incredibly comfortable sofas. We have stayed in many holiday cottages where the sofas are not very comfortable, but these were highend, luxury sofas and genuinely some of the most comfortable weve had in a rental property. Every window seems to frame a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and really adds to the peaceful atmosphere of the property. The owners were also fantastic. Tim in particular was incredibly friendly and helpful, staying in contact throughout the week and making sure we had everything we needed. Nothing was ever too much trouble and that level of care really makes a difference to a stay! The only very minor thing to be aware of and its more a note than a criticism is that the property is accessed via country lanes and a track, which can feel a little tight if youre not used to rural driving. That said, its exactly what gives the cottage its peaceful, secluded charm, and being tucked away like that is part of what makes it such a special place! Overall, we absolutely loved our stay. Fox Den is spacious, comfortable, beautifully presented and immaculately clean, with breathtaking views and wonderful hosts. If you are thinking about booking, I would 100 recommend securing it before someone else does!
If you are looking for peace and quiet, Fox Den is the place. On its own with lovely rural views all around. Spacious, warm and comfortable.

Fox Den is a wonderfully relaxing country retreat. After negotiating the surrounding narrow lanes, we arrived at this lovely barn conversion, simply, tastefully and elegantly furnished. Due to some of the wettest and windiest of January weather, we did not venture far, yet it was just the place to chill and unwind. Everything we needed was available and the country views over to the local church are stunning. The property is certainly dog friendly. The outdoor warm hose was very welcome as two very muddy yellow labradors now turned black returned from their walks. Would we return? Most definitely! Perhaps in the summer to see the sunflowers in all their glory.
Greatly enjoyed our winter week in stylish luxury of the warm and light filled, solidly rebuilt barn. The layout works well, in particular the utility entrance hall with wet room, and the sofa sitting area to the splendid kitchen with distant views of Pendomer hilltop church. The superbly sited hot tub approached over beautiful stone terracing was perfect to experience blue sky frosty morning and later sunset outlooks over surrounding fields and trees. Fox Den provided a comfortable base for visiting Sherbourne and Montacute, and good walking to surrounding countryside and villages.
We spent the new year at fox den we have stopped in a lot of different cottages but this one is the best we have stopped in by far it is designed and laid out to suit everyones needs with split areas to relax or interact as a family the finish and the facilitys are fantastic, the owners were always on hand if needed and the welcome hamper was very much appreciated it was freezing when we was there but the hot tub was amazing and the enclosed patiogarden was great for the dogs, we would highly recommended this cottage and have already booked again for the summer as it was a great base to use for travelling to various beaches and towns thank you for our lovely holiday.
We had a fabulous relaxing 5 night break at the Fox Den. It is set in a quiet location with beautiful countryside views all around. On entering there was a welcome basket of milk, biscuits and apple juice, also provided are tea bags, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, kindling, logs and luxury shampoo body wash etc. The cottage was decorated for Christmas including a real tree. The decor, fittings, furniture and cleanliness is top quality. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the leather settees. The underfloor heating and log burner make the cottage cosy and comfortable. We enjoyed viewing the stars from the hot tub located on the patio. We did a couple off walks from the property using the public footpaths, you can walk to the local pub just over a mile away. The wifi connection was good and the smart TV provides the usual streaming services to log in to. A great place for a relaxing holiday, we will be visiting again.
Fantastic property with everything you could want or need. Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you for allowing us to stay and share in your vision for the Fox Den. As we mentioned to Tim, weve stayed in many cottage homes over the years, but the Fox Den is without doubt the finest weve experienced. The care taken with the design, fixtures, and fittings is clear in every aspect. We wanted for nothing during our stay you truly have thought of everything, right down to the warm outdoor tap, which Millie, our dog, was very grateful for after her chilly dip in the sea at West Bay. The views from the house are wonderful, even with the mixed weather we had. It must be spectacular in the summer when the sunflowers are out and the trees are in full leaf. Thank you again for a lovely break. We wish you every success with the Fox Den. An intimate retreat where you can settle in, unwind, and truly feel at home.
The Fox Den is the best cottage we have stayed in so far. It was immaculate inside, cosy, well equipped, beautiful and was even better than the photographs showed. We enjoyed the hot tub with the amazing views and the visiting wildlife plus the silence at night, it is so relaxing. The rooms are all a good size with high end furniture and large TV's. The welcome pack was lovely, as well as the toiletries and not having to pay for fire wood and kindling was a bonus too. Everything has been catered for and the beds were extremely comfy, we really did not want to leave. It was absolutely perfect for us and our little pooch. Even he was well catered for, with treats and bowls. We have already recommended this stunning cottage to all of our friends and we hope to return ourselves again one day. Thank you both for an amazing stay.
Matthew
Arriving at The Fox Den was a joy! Absolutely stunned by the views and the silence. The pictures do not do this lovely house and surrounding areas justice. The house itself was excellent, and you can just tell that it's been very well built and decorated to high standard. I have given the facilities and maintenance survey a 45 only because on the hottub, we could only have some of the jets on. Not a criticism as such, but it would have been nice, in such a lovely tub to be able to feel it's full power. We also had a loose cupboard door on the dishwasher, which was speedily rectified by the owner Tim. Overall, we had a great time at The Fox Den and would highly recommend it. Seriously, this place is superb. If you want to get away from it all and enjoy some peace and quiet then this is the place for you.
Charlotte
We had an amazing stay at The Fox Den and have already booked to go again! All four of us didnt want to leave! The house is lovely and has everything that you need to make your stay just perfect. The beds are soooo comfy and the pillows are amazing! The kitchen is so will equipped too. I preferred it to my own kitchen!! The location is perfection! So quiet and peaceful for a relaxing holiday. We didnt some lovely walks around the fields and saw plenty of wildlife. We saw a deer leap over the field one morning too. The hot tub is just what you need after a lovely walk. Cant wait to come back next year. Thank you Tim and Kathy!
The Fox Den is in an idyllic location with beautiful views from every room. The hot tub and outside seating area has been thoughtout to capture the sun and views of the sunflowers and fields afar. The property has been designed to the highest quality with full surround sound and good WiFi connection. The kitchen is well equipped for a night in or exterior dining with picnicware and ice from the ice dispenser. Tim and Kathy made us feel very welcome and gave great tips for days out, local pubs and a great butcher. The fresh flowers, juice and milk was a nice welcome. The Fox Den is a haven, so peaceful and relaxing we have already rebooked. If you can tear yourself away from the house it's a great location for days out from the coast, villages and cities.
