Shieldhill Farm House Reviews

Lovely house with loads of space. Grandson loved all the toys. Great central location. Lots of interesting places to visit. We had a great family holiday.
Patricia
Shieldhill farm house was amazing,it was clean and so comfortable , beds really comfy well stocked the owners have thought of everything, the home made scones with butter and jam were delicious . My grandsons loved the hot tub but I think the pool table was their favourite as a family of 3 generations we had the most amazing time celebrating a special wedding anniversary. The milk barn is definitely worth a visit .Fab location for kelpies too.Loved this place would highly recommend.

From the moment we arrived to the welcome homemade scones & jam to the generous sized accommodation at the farmhouse it was a great weekend venue to have a family birthday get together for nine including to young grandchildren who loved the vast hamper of toys while the adults were in the hot tub !
Shieldhill Farm House was stunning and spotless! !. My family and friends were there celebrating my 70th birthday. Everything you need is provided. A lovely welcome in the kitchen with fresh scones, jam etc and milk and juice in the fridge. Pool table was great, lots of board games were brilliant too. Overall a fantastic place to stay and I have made really special memories. Thank you Suzannah.
Lovely place to be, location was great, not to far from Falkirk 7min to station Ample space, rooms were very well propotioned Hot tub was a nice extra Pool table and table football was a nice way to get people together.
Third visit to this farmhouse with my group of nursing friends for a much needed break. Brilliant accommodation & I couldnt rate it high enough. Weve been doing these January breaks now for upteen yrs. This is the only one we have returned to 3 times. Were a mixed bunch with very individual likes & dislikes. This accommodation met all our requirements.

The location worked very well for us close to the railway station and shops, but the house location felt very private and rural. The house Great, spacious accommodation for a familyfriends gettogether. The house is warm and welcoming, the big living room with a great fireplace, loads of sofas and blankets was perfect for having a wee rest, chatting or time out. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything one could possibly need for cooking big meals thank you for the goody basket. The games room is brilliant, we spent many hours playing games and pool with the whole family, also enjoyed the table football! Bed rooms super comfy beds and all warm and clean, as were the bathrooms. The laundry room was great for muddy boots and dog the one thing that would have been handy would have been a dryer, but maybe more because of the time of year and weather!. The garden is huge! Our dog loved it and we were very grateful for being able to close the big gate, as our dog managed to jump the dog enclosure within the first few hours he's a big bouncy Weimaraner but didn't seem to be tempted to escape the big garden. We only used the hot tub a few times, as the weather was just too wet and windy, but when we did it lived up to our expectations. We didn't use any of the outside furniture. The only thing we struggled with was the lightning a few more lights would be good we ended up carrying the 2 tall lamps from room to room e.g.to play pool, to see at the dining table, to read in the big living room, but again, that's possibly only the case during the dark months of the year. All in all we had a lovely time and thank you very much for letting us stay in your beautiful home!

We were a large family group and we had a brilliant time at Shieldhill House. Its such a versatile house with lots of different spaces. Warm, clean, extremely well equipped. The owners were so helpful and very responsive. The hot tub is fantastic. We spent hours doing jigsaws, cooking, playing board games, sleeping have I mentioned the comfortable beds

First impressions was of a long potholed drive, which was difficult to access due to the gate not opening far enough because of undergrowth. The house is big and my family loved the games room and the hot tub. the two ensuite rooms were large and comfortable, it is a shame there wasn't a bathroom or even toilet upstairs. We felt that it was in need of some TLC especially outside the patio furniture appeared to be good quality, but was dirty and not useable. The paving at the front of the house had weeds growing in it and the paving needed pressure washing. The dog run was a disgrace with very long grass and even worse decaying clumps of previously cut grass on the patio area this again needed pressure washing. There are lots of things to do nearby and my family had a nice holiday there and enjoyed the space and the ample parking available.
House is beautiful. Plenty seating areas and lots of room, it was ideal for the 7 of us. Would definitely return, great value for money.
Jessica
Beautiful location and situated perfect to local town. The house is a lovely home but not cleaned properly. Top bedroom sheets not washed, distinct blocked drain smell through the house, strongest in the kitchen. There was a wasps nest above the top window and wasps would not stop coming in the house, need to pay for a removal. Stains everywhere, including blankets and sheets, and leaky shower in the ensuite.
Caroline
The house is really lovely, spacious and well equipped. Perfect for a big family holiday. The location is great and so quiet. Owners v helpful. Not as clean as we hoped, other dogs toys lying around. Balls of hair and a leaky shower in one of the bedroom bathrooms. Which had to be soaked up with towels through the week. We were very comfortable though and it really is a gorgeous property in a beautiful setting.
Veronica
Spacious, clean, lots of thoughtful extras, couldnt have asked for more. We loved it and intend on staying here again. The master bedroom ensuite shower was very slow draining we managed fine but youll want to know
Had a great stay here, plenty space to chill and relax and also plenty spaces to enjoy as a family. Dogs loved the open space to run about and the enclosed back garden was perfect to let dogs out. Loved the pool table and kids loved the hot tub especially being able to link their phones to play music. Welcome scones, butter, jam, milk and juice along with the voucher for milk barn was greatly appreciated, delicious ice cream and milkshakes. Great location to visit Kelpies, Falkirk wheel and Callendar park.
Property was perfect! Large enough for a big family to spread out and socialize but also good size bedrooms to retreat to when needed. Beds very comfortable. Everything sparkling clean! Kitchen was incredibly well stocked complete with home made scones, milk, eggs etc for your first evening. Beds soo comfortable too! Conveniently close to many attractions but beautiful countryside views and private. Host very responsive and even brought us fans during the recent heat wave! Loved it!
What an amazing holiday at this property. Ample space for all the family, very private but close to facilities. The owners were extremely helpful. We would definitely return
Brilliant house for a gathering of family or friends. There is so much space and everything you need and more for relaxation, partying to making a full sunday lunch. The grounds are abundant our 4 legged friend love it. There is also a fenced off area that's large enough for a run around. The lovely little greating of freshly made scones, basket of treats, tea coffee's and hot chocolate was unexpected but greatly appreciated when we arrived. The owner sent an email a few days before we were due to arrive will lots of information including little walkstrails which was very helpful. The milk barn is well worth a visit.
What a break away we all had! It had everything we wanted and more. The additions of some basics to get you settled in before getting your own shopping was a lovely touch. It was clean, it was spacious , peaceful, tranquil and it was enjoyed by all of us. Already tying to organise the family so we can all get together and stay again. Thank you so much.
We had an excellent stay, and the property was wonderful, with plenty of space for our dogs to run around safely.
Our family had a wonderful week, house was spacious and provided everything you would need. Grounds were stunning, well kept and secure for our dogs. Ideal location for peace and quiet, visiting local landmarks and only a 10 minute walk from the milk barn amazing food and ice cream.
The property was perfect for our needs. Sat in a rural area with peace and quiet, but within minutes of the town and train station. Accommodating 9 of us with amazing space. We loved the games room. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was so nice to have a table that sat us all. The only thing that really puzzled us was the 15 minute maximum stay rule in the hot tub. Why? We have a hot tub at home and have never been advised on time restrictions. Other than that we had a marvellous time and would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Thomas
The house was fantastic. we had a great time.the welcome pack provided was outstanding. the house was very tidy all bedding and towels were fresh. we couldnt ask fir any better we will definately book again. the website was easy to follow and the information flow after booking was very good. Highly Recommended.
Amazing! The property is extremely spacious and the decor is lovely. I would very highly recommend this house to anyone. We were a family of six and all of us agreed the house and facilities were beautiful. We travelled up from the south coast 10 hours and on arrival we soon perked up once we entered the property. I would like to say a huge thank you and wish the owners all the very best for the future. Mr C.

Our family stay at Sheildhill Farm House was truly wonderful. We were a party of 5 adults, 4 children and two dogs. Accommodation on arrival was warm, clean and very comfortable. We all enjoyed the pool table many tournaments and killer pool games and the spacious hot tub. The farm house itself is very spacious, large rooms with plenty of space to find a quirky space to settle in a comfie chair and read a book or play a board game with family. There was a huge variety of books and toys to entertain our youngest 2yr old member of the party. Now when it comes to describing our hosts we can't praise them enough, Suzannah was always friendly and exceedingly helpful no matter the query. Hospitality was superb, we all throughly enjoyed the bountiful supply of home made scones with butter and jam! One of the very best breaks we've enjoyed as a family and I'm hopeful we will return. Thank you!
It was amazing. It was my 70th birthday & 12 of us. All of us had a great time, loved the hot tub & pool table. Perfect for us all. There was everything we needed. Lovely & warm as well. Brilliant place for groups of family & friends. X
Absolutely beautiful property which is well maintained and immaculately clean throughout. So many amenities both inside and out hot tub and lovely garden, pool table, fusball table, board games, toys for younger kids, stunning big farmhouse kitchen and ample dinning space. The layout really lends itself well if people want to go to bed and other want to stay up late, as the living and sleeping are adjacent, so noise doesn't disturb those in the bedrooms. Nice touch with scones and jam on arrival and well stocked with milk, tea and coffee my one suggestion would be to let people know there's a coffee machine so they can also bring their own coffee pods. Great communication from the owner and easy arrival and leaving process. Nothing not to like about Shieldhill Farm and we plan to make this an annual event for the family. Love it!!
Veronica
A lovely property, very spacious. Excellent for group, family breaks. Owner is very welcoming and hands on for your stay. Grounds are lovely, peaceful and enough areas for sitting with a book or playing with your kids or dogs. Definitely recommend

Perfect accommodation for a family group of 10. Very large property so plenty of space to relax. The kids loved the pool table and the football game. The hot tub is a real bonus, and also liked the log fire for cosy evenings, although it consumes logs at an alarming rate.
Andreas
We felt very comfortable in the house. All the rooms are cosily furnished. Particularly noteworthy is the amount of seating. Really a lot of space. The pool table and table football as well as the hot tub and fireplace made our stay very special and we will definitely be back. The welcome pack with the voucher for the ice cream parlour was also a great idea, which we visited by car due to the weather. All in all we had a great time. Thank you so much.
Maureen
It was an amazing setting for a family get together. Lots of space for everyone and the beds were so comfortable. Already thinking about it for another family get together.
This was the best holiday let I have been at, the house was lovely and warm on ... This was the best holiday let I have been at, the house was lovely and warm on arrival and was spotless clean, all the bedrooms were big and roomy, all the bathrooms were modern and plenty of room, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the welcome pack was absolutely lovely, the home made scones were a treat, we had our family for a 60th birthday and everyone from the 5 year old to the 83 year old had a ball, many thanks Suzannah & Alistair
This property is simply wonderful. We were a family ranging from 4 to 77 and it catered for everyone. The owners have thought of everything. The house is absolutely beautiful and has so many stunning little areas for everyone to have some space. The photos really don't do it justice. So peaceful and private.
We go away as a family each year, and this is by far the best property we have stayed in, beautiful large house with quality furnishings throughout. The house is very well equipped. The welcome pack and scones were very well appreciated. Great hot tub, the pool and football table were well used by us. Also the Milk barn a short walk away does amazing food and ice cream with great staff. I highly recommend this property.
Patrick
An excellent property located centrally to numerous activities. Having a train station so close by also helped us visit Edinburgh and Glasgow during our stay. The property itself was very spacious, clean, modern and comfortable and having board games, a pool table and hottub etc. certainly kept our teenagers occupied in the evenings. The hosts were fantastic and readily available if needed. I would thoroughly recommend this excellent property to anyone seeking to holiday in central Scotland.
Antonio
Es una casa muy amplia que da intimidad ya que al ir tres matrimonios en ocasiones necesitas poder tener tu espacio. Ademas los extras de yacusi, billar, futboln y muchos juegos hacen que en caso de que decidas quedarte no te aburras
We felt like Lords and Ladies of the manor during our stay. A beautiful homw and location.
Louise
What a beautiful place the photos don't actually do it justice it is truly awesome. There's also an extra bedroom which was a bonus that 2 family members didn't have to share
Antony
A really lovely property very well equipped in a delightful location
Our group of 8 adults family members came from various locations and this property was perfectly situated for all of us only half an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow by train. The home was well equipped, peaceful and very comfortable. We had a much needed relaxing few days talking, playing board games and pool games and pool table were a bonus. The owner had thought of everything and we even had a plate of scones and other goodies waiting for us on arrival. We visited Falkirk and Grangemouth for a few things but were happy to potter around the home. We saw some wildlife too! We would definitely recommend and hope to stay again before long.
Had a fabulous stay would highly recommend, hope to return!
