Northern Byre, Sopley

We arrived at the property with high expectations and hopes and were sadly disappointed. On arrival the property was dirty. The floors not hooveredmoped, cobwebs in multiple rooms, stains on floor in kitchen, bins not emptied one in bedroom contained glass alcohol bottle dirty pan in dishwasher and hair in shower trap. We ended up cleaning when we arrived. Sent message to number left on welcome letter and didnt get a response for over a day and a half. Carpets are in need of a very good shampoo or replacing due to numerous stainsdirty areas. Hot tub was not working until 5th day of holiday, we were however kept up to date about this. There are however many positives to the property, its finished to a high standard throughout and is extremely well stocked. It has things such as iron, ironing board, airers, high chair, travel cot, toddler bed rail, air fryer, coffee machine Nespresso, plenty of potspans, fantastic large selection of games, Sky Glass TV, BBQ and outdoor seating. As others have mentioned the seating is slightly awkward with the sofa, however spare chairs are provided in hallway which can be moved in and used easily. The location is easy to access right next to a road so you can hear traffic going past when in bedrooms, but if you shut skylight windows that reduces the noise dramatically. Parking for 2 cars on the drive which has a gate across. The Woolpack pub is a very short walk away which served delicious food in a lovely environment with lovely friendly and attentive staff. The beds were very comfortable with lots of pillows and nice bedding. Towels, robes and slippers were provided which was great. Overall we did have a lovely stay, the start was a little disappointing but the property on the whole was lovely.

Great property for family holiday with the well maintained hot tub a bonus. Northern Byre is spacious and furnished to a high standard with a very generous welcome pack. It was perfect for the three generations of our family with space for both being together and independent times. Great location for getting places and a good pub a few hundred yards away.

Northern Byre is a very spacious property that is really well equipped and clean. The hot tub was serviced almost daily and a great bonus for relaxation. The property is alongside quite a busy road but not particularly disturbing. One point for improvement is that the garden would benefit from some maintenance.

This is really beautiful property, with some thoughtful touches by the owner. All eight of us found it comfortable and clean and loved the village although the pub was closed during our stay. Only a couple of negatives given the attention to detail across the cottage not having hand soap and shampoo, or cloths to wipe surfaces seemed a bit of an oversight. The other problem I would have preferred to contact the owner directly with, as I didn't want to deter others, but Sykes didn't facilitate this after our stay. On our second evening, around 8pm, a neighbour paid a visit asking that we weren't in the garden too late as it 'isn't a holiday park' and 'it's a school night.' Half of our party found this reasonable and the other half thought her rude. We were enjoying the hot tub but weren't being loud. Looking through previous comments, it sounds as if this lady frequently pops round, possibly because she experiences a lot of disturbance, something I think the owner should try and find a solution to. Without doubt, we would stay again being prepared for disgruntled neighbours and not retreating inside immediately, as we did because the cottage is positively luxurious in a wonderful area. We had a brilliant stay at Northern Byre for the half term holiday. The house is spacious and perfect for two families joining together as we did. 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. The hot tub was a huge hit and just added an extra bit of luxury to our stay. The provision of towels, robes and slippers was the icing on the cake. We loved it so much we have already booked again for next year.

We had a lovely night celebrating our daughters birthday with her friends and family. We loved the place and would recommend it to others. The small touches like the welcome pack and the Christmas decorations were really special. Thank you so much

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas in this fabulous accomodation. Every detail was thought of and it felt like a real home from home. The hot tub, wood burning fire and Christmas decorations were particular highlights as were the comfortable beds and thoughtful touches. Alan and Mark were fantastic hosts so easy to communicate with and nothing was too much trouble. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend a stay here and hope to return ourselves one day.

Northern Byre is a great find A beautiful property and really well equipped with everything you could need. A great location to explore the local area, the New Forest and the coast. The owner was superb, nothing was too much trouble and he was very welcoming, lovely welcome pack provided with some essentials but also nice goodies.

Beautiful home from home, hot tub was an added bonus. Was a little concerned about the road at the side of the property, took the dog for a walk on first night and it was quite busy, but we discovered the footpath to field and shortcut to Woolpack

We enjoyed our stay very much and were delighted to find touches like beautiful fresh flowers awaiting us and fizz to drink along with all the essentials needed to get settled. We felt it was home from home, comfortably furnished inside and out. There was a lot of rain during our week there and so the covered hot tub was great. Our only suggestion due to the weather we had, we wished the garden sofas had a cover over so we could have made use of them when the sun came out. They did not dry all week. We would stay again and recommend it.

What a lovely house and the owners have thought of everything! It was like home from home and an ideal place to explore the local area. We would recommend to anyone visiting the area to stop at Northern Byrne.

We had a great stay here. Firstly the barn itself is lovely and spacious we have a big family and there was plenty of space and with 2 kitchens was great for us as our eldest kids could cook themselves. It was really comfortable for days when you just wanted to relax with plenty of places outside to chill. The location of the place is perfect as well because everything is within 20 minutes drive. The complimentary pack that we received on arrival was a lovely touch and the hot tub was lovely and clean and maintained all the way through our stay by Mark who was fantastic. Overall our holiday was brilliant and cant recommend this highly we will definitely be using this place again.

We had a really enjoyable holiday at Northern Byre. The cottage is very welcoming, well equipped and was comfortable and spacious for our family of 4 adults and 2 children. The hot tub was a wonderful place to chill after a day's sightseeing or fun at the beach. The Sky TV and WiFi were very good for evening entertainment.

Spacious and comfortable rooms and a lovely garden with good seating that was dog friendly. Hot tub with canopy and lights was a great way to relax after a long day's walk of the coastal path. Ideal location for New Forest trips too.

We had the most amazing time at Northern Byre. The attention to detail at the house was amazing, from the dishwasher tabs, beautiful smelling home made soap to the luxury robes for use with the hot tub. Most of all though the location is perfect. From numerous beaches, shops, and everything in between was no more than half an hour away. The dog enjoyed the garden and the fields and walks surrounding. Basicall just perfect. 0

Amazing stay at Northern Byre over Christmas. Beautiful house with great facilities. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and lots of extra touches which made us all including 2 children feel very special. Hot tub was a nice bonus too. Hosts very responsive. Would definitely go back.

Spacious and comfortable property. Good location from which to explore the New Forest and the nearby coastbeaches. Great local pub two minutes away welcoming, friendly, good quality food and service.

The property was lovely and clean and every need catered for. We were a family of eight and the boys loved the hot tub, the only fault was the intermittent WiFi but that is to be expected in a rural area. If we holiday in the New Forest again this property we would certainly return to this property again 1010

A fabulous holiday cottage! Beautiful little garden which we were very pleased to find is dog escape proof! with great hot tub ready to go when we arrived. Very comfortable, clean and well appointed inside. Sopley is a lovely little village with the excellent Woolpack pub with fabulous food. Highly Recommend!

We had a lovely week. We know Christchurch and the New Forest well and this was a great place to stay and revisit some old haunts. The cottage was clean and homely with everything we needed. There were four of us taking a break from busy jobs so we didn't want anywhere too busy or hectic. On the whole it was very peaceful. One slight irritation was the road noise but this quietened in the evening and couldn't be heard on the most part. The property could have come with a book of information as we didn't know how to contact any vets, doctors etc if we had an emergency. We also didn't know what to do with rubbish and recycling and there were black bags left on the gate side from neighbours. we struggled with the internet at times and this interrupted some of the Euro 24 matches that we were watching, a small thing really. We don't have a dish washer at home so had to change our approach, there is no draining board for intermittent washing up. The accommodation was beautiful and spacious for four adults, comfortable and clean. We are highly likely to book again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Northern Byre. The beds were comfy and there was everything you could need in the kitchen. The property set up suited our family with bedrooms on ground level and upstairs. We had a toddler in our party and we appreciated the provision of the cot, high chair and stair gate but it wasnt mentioned on the listing that these would be there. The property is in a good central location for visiting the local area and we had great weather so we enjoyed exploring the area, sitting in the garden, and the bbq and the hot tub. In terms of facilities, most things were well catered for. The welcome pack was nice to have on arrival and tea and coffee and cleaning stuff was also provided. In terms of things that could have made our stay better There were no house instructions or useful info pack in the property which we have had in all the houses we have stayed in before, that give useful numberstakeawayswhat to do with towelssheets on leaving etc. It would have been good to have somewhere to hang wet swimming costumes as we couldnt find a washing line or a clothes horse. The parking isnt sufficient for 2 mediumlarge sized cars and meant one of our vehicles was always parked half way in the driveway and there are quite a few cars around the nearby properties. The road outside was also busier than we expected but that wasnt an issue for us. The WiFi was intermittent which meant the TV did not always work in the evening and we found the WiFi did not extend to the bedrooms downstairs. On our first night there was no gas in the bbq and the hot tub was cold. We found out from the maintenance man the next day that the hot tub had the water changed which was why it wasnt hot but it would have been good to have been told that on arrival. He was very helpful and sorted out more gas for the bbq and was checking the hot tub everyday. When we arrived the bins outside were full from the previous occupants and werent emptied during the 5 days we were there, meaning our own rubbish was then added to it when we left. One of the neighbours seems to have an issue with the presence of the hot tub and came round to complain that we were out in it on Monday evening just after 10pm telling us it was a school night and that they have this issue every day. We were just on our last cycle of bubbles and were soon to go in anyway. We werent being particularly loud, just two people outside talking and enjoying the nice evening watching the bats flying around. It rather took the enjoyment out of using the hot tub in the evening for us and meant we probably did use it as much as we expected to during our stay. Overall a lovely stay.

Fantastic accommodation, lovely welcome basket and hot tub was a hit! Everything thing was thought of even down to dog poo bags! Good Central location, highly recommend!

Spacious and comfortable, the property exceeded my expectations. It is equipped to a very high level, from the induction hob to the impressive Sky television. With easy access to Christchurch and with the New Forest almost on the doorstep, it has a great location. The welcome prosecco pack was a nice surprise and the hot tub was also a big hit. Parking was a little crowded and I'm glad we didn't have 2 cars. Also mind that Sopley is a busy intersection at weekends and at times the traffic noise was a little intrusive. Overall very happy with our stay.

We had a lovely stay at Northern Byre! The house is immaculate and very well stocked little extras you need during your stay, fluffy towels and comfy beds. Thank you to the owner for the lovely welcome and the Easter eggs and Prosecco on arrival. The garden and hot tub were fab and it was very secure for our dog. It was so nice to have a pub just a short 2 minute walk away through the field and the food there was delicious. Very close to the seaside and Christchurch which is a lovely town. Only downside is the wifi isn't great so we struggled to watch TV shows sometimes.

A great place to stay and highly recommended. It is within easy travelling distance of various locations of interest. Northern Byre is very comfortable, with great on site facilities. The welcome basket was a lovely touch, which was most welcome. My only recommendation would be the provision of a cutting board in the kitchen, otherwise it is perfect.

Perfect stay in a quiet location! Everything you need and so close to beaches and for exploring the New Forest. Facilities were great and host was welcoming and sorted any queries immediately. Lovely touches with fresh flowers and welcome pack! Especially great was the breakfast pack from the local farm shop, delicious!

The Northern Byre exceeded my expectations, it's beautifully furnished and has fantastic, comfy communal spaces. The amenities all looked brand new, the whole place was spotlessly clean and the hot tub was clean and well mantained. We all loved our time here and were sad to go home at the end of the week! Thank you to Alan, our host, for being so accommodating and helpful throughout our stay.
