Leghorn Reviews

Sophie
The good amazing views, well equipped kitchen and the hot tub was fabulous. The not so good hosts werent particularly approachable, we messaged about waste disposal and the message was read and ignored. We introduced ourselves upon arrival, but the lady didnt give her name. Didnt feel particularly welcome because of this and didnt feel we could reach out. The property needs a deep clean the extension lead in the main bedroom was covered in dust and the en suite smelt musty. There were marks on the laminate flooring in the lounge, just needs a really good clean. I would also advise the hosts add the what three words to the property on the list due to its rural location.
Alison
Lovely property, everything you could need. Lovely welcome pack. Highly recommend ed
Arrived at the property which we were able to get into earlier than the stated 5pm which was great. We loved having the cream tea which was a really nice gesture and we enjoyed it with a welcome cup of tea which was lovely after the long journey. We did not see the owner during our weeks stay we did try to contact them a couple of times regarding what to do with the key when we left early on the Friday but unfortunately we did not hear back. Accommodation was clean and tidy. It was great having the bedroom downstairs with the ensuite shower room. Although we did keep experiencing a drain smell coming from the bathroom which wasnt very pleasant. The stairs to the upstairs are a bit steep but there is a lovely size bedroom and a nice size bathroom with a large bath in it. It does say that there is a washing machine at the property although there is not one inside the cottage. We did have to hunt around to find the instructions for the kitchen appliances which we discovered in the top cupboard above the microwave. Top cupboards are a little bit high to reach when your short like myself. There was only one light bulb working under the kitchen cupboards above the work surface. There is only a small fridge with a very small freezer compartment. We did have a lovely stay and the cottage location was in an ideal area and you do have a lovely sea view which was an added bonus. We enjoyed our weeks holiday and was able to dodge the rain showers and there was only one day where we stayed in to avoid the rain and very strong windy weather.
Another excellent stay in this wellappointed and maintained farmhouse. Ideally located and within easy reach of all the main visitor attractionslocations. A great stay. Highly recommended.
Angela
Lovely cottage with comfortable beds and very clean. The hot tub was a bonus and it was great to sit in it and look at the amazing sea view. Great host and very dog friendly.
Andrew
Lovely little cottage with great access to local beaches, the Eden Project and many other places. We 2 adults stayed here with our 2 girls and the property was perfect for us. Our host gave us a lovely welcome along with some hints and tips on the local beaches which was appreciated. We'd definitely think about staying here again in future.
Deborah
We loved our stay at Leghorn. Despite a very late arrival due to traffic we were met at the property in the rain with a warm welcome. The property was just as described and had everything we needed. It was our first uk summer holiday and visit to Cornwall. We would deffinately recommend.
Arkadiusz

Melvyn
We really enjoyed our stay! The accomadation was excellent! Lovely and clean and the price was very competitive. The situation was ideal for exploring the particular area of Cornwall. We look forward to perhaps returning in the future.
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Leghorn 1320 Sep 2024. The accommodation is furnished to a high standard and was very clean and comfortable. We loved that the location is extremely quiet and peaceful with a sea view, from the front of the property, but within easy reach of many attractions. The provision of a cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch thank you. The only suggestions we would make would be to provide a toilet brush, and maybe a little more information on the local area, for example, recommendations for places to eat or visit etc. Although this information is available on the internet, it would have been nice to browse through a folder. Overall, excellent accomodation in a beautiful setting to which we would happily return.
Eileen
Had a lovely week. Clean & well equipped. We are back to stay again Friday for another weeks stay.
Beautifully presented and off the beaten track but not so much so that it's difficult to get anywhere. Literally about 5 mins drive from the Eden Project. Would come here again.
Matthew
The property was very clean and comfortable the cream tea left for our arrival was a lovely touch. The hot tub was just what was needed after a day of exploring and Gray Farm is an excellent base to explore the whole of Cornwall. I would definitely recommend Leghorn and hopefully we'll return soon.
What a lovely location the cottage was ideal for 4 adults. Lovely views across the fields and the sea.Nothing was too far away lots of shops in St Austell, easy walk or drive to Eden Project. Owners are very friendly.
This property is well furnished with comfortable furniture and beds, good pillows and bedding. The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials. It is smaller than the pictures makes it appear and we had dog crates with us which makes it quite cramped. There is also some mould on the grouting in the shower and round the window in the bathroom. The welcome pack consists of a packet of Tesco scones, clotted cream and jam. I am gluten and lactose intolerant, the owners obviously did not know but in this day and age with vegetarians, vegans and intolerances couldnt help feeling it could be more imaginative. The patio doors from the garden go through the bedroom, it was very wet when we stayed and I was terrified a wet, muddy dog would jump on the bed, with careful manoeuvring they didnt but there was no mop available in the property to wash the floors. We had asked to take 3 dogs via Sykes which the owner agreed to. We did have issues regarding the washing machine and dryer, it was a very wet week when we were there and each time we went to use the washer or drier they were both in use with big notices on them telling us not to remove whatever was in them, there was a contact number, when phoned no one answered, we didnt bother leaving a message. The hot tub shed is kept locked, which means in effect you have to get permission to use it by asking for the key, which I didnt. There is nothing in the property about the local area, walks or activities, no leaflets or maps. There is also nothing for if the weather is bad, there are no games, books or playing cards. Due to circumstances I spent a lot of time on my own in the property but had fortunately taken books with me. We did have some issues regarding the adjoining door between properties, we had booked both, I would suggest you get very clear assurances from Sykes and the owner about the arrangements you require before booking.
Cottage was lovely. Modern and clean with everything you need. The owner welcomed us with scones jam and clotted cream which was delightful. The bed was super comfy. The TV had netflix which was a bonus. The hot tub was located next door in a small stone built building...all enclosed and private which was a lovely end to our days out. The only negative that we could think of was that there was no toilet brush. Other than that we had no complaints and had a lovely time
Samantha
A perfect get away. Leghorn was spotlessly clean, and contained everything you could need for a self catering get away. The beds were very comfortable, and bedding top quality. Beautiful, quiet surroundings, and wonderful hosts. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
This place was absolutely beautiful. Me and my partner had a wonderful, relaxed stay. The hot tub and bath were amazing. Great area! Thank you to Paul for sending my bag back after I left it there!
Fabulous location and views. We were both delighted with Leghorn. Paul and his wife were extremely helpful when we had the odd query. A perfect breakconvalescence for one of our party. Thank you
Had a lovely holiday the property was lovely and clean and had everything we needed with an amazing view and the hot tub was an added bonus the owners were friendly and there if we needed anything. Hope to return again soon
Wonderful place and everything was thought of. Even had a Christmas tree! Cant wait to come back!
Jonathan
Amazing property, in a great location with great facilities. Owners were really friendly and helpful. Couldnt have asked for a better stay. Will definitely be back.
Gabriel
The cottage was in a good location and the hot tub was great. Clean and bright with attractive coastal settings, good heating, appliances and furniture. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. We had a very lovely stay and will be back.
Property was lovely, however, it would be good to have a few mirrors in the property, especially in the bedrooms. Other than that, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
This is a lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful location. Jane & Paul were fabulous hosts and made us and our dogs very welcome. There is a large enclosed garden which was great for our dogs. The private jacuzzi was an added bonus. The views from the cottage are magnificent and the online photos dont do it justice. We would definitely recommend particularly if you have dogs.
Desmond
Very comfortable quite central for touring having a gated garden was ideal for the two dogs
Michael
Lovely property that is well presented, with everything you need for your stay, in a very quiet & remote location. Hearing the livestock of the farm when there was nice & added to the tranquility of our staying here. We walked to the Eden project from here, which only took us 30 minutes. Never found the pub, but we were never bothered about that. However, everything you need is only a short 10 min drive from here.
Philip
Just a few small issues with some of the equipment in this property which is a shame
What a beautiful cottage in a lovely location. We could not have wished for anything more. It was a lovely surprise to arrive to a welcoming cream tea! And the enclosed garden was brilliant for our puppy. Lots of wonderful places to visit nearby such as Charlestown, Mevagissy, Fowey and Par beach. We would definitely stay again.
Sharmon
A beautiful property in a lovely area myself and my daughter walked to the Eden project in 20 minutes. Near to everything spent lovely days out with our 2 dogs The cottage was lovely and so warm the hot tub was a extra bonus after walking all day .And the cream teas was really lovely on arrival .
A lovely barn conversion with a stunning view. Clean and bright with attractive coastal pictures, good heating, appliances and furniture. We enjoyed coastal walks and the bus services in the area are excellent allowing you to walk between villages and catch the bus back. Looe to Polperro, Spit Beach to Fowey are very good and you can also walk from Spit Beach to Charlestown small free car park near the rail line. Hot tub was an added bonus and was very clean. Welcome cream tea was appreciated and the owner received our grocery delivery as we arrived later than anticipated.
We had a wonderful week stay in early October and highly recommend. A very clean and comfortable accommodation, fine for us as a couple but good for 4 guests. The hot tub really was a great bonus and we used on each of the 6 days, great after being out walking etc. Excellent location for Eden Project, 20 min walk, or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Fowey or wider afield. Pleasant walks nearby including the Coastal Path and our hosts information helpful and borrowing maps and the weather was good.
Samuel
Very nice, clean and wellmaintained property. Lovely kitchen and living space and the beds were very comfy. The hot tub was great, and the cottage was in a good location. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. We had a lovely week stay.
Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Modern, light, bright and warm. The view was amazing and the place was very peaceful. Would have been useful to have a manual or instructions for electrical items and perhaps suggestions for good places to eat etc.
Michael
Location was perfect away from it all. Not to everyones taste but ideal for us. Handy for great walks around the coast. Had a great week.
A wonderful little cottage, very cosy and beautifully decorated inside. Perfect enclosed garden for the dogs with a lovely seating are and amazing hot tub in the stone building next to the cottage with views of the sea. Very close to the Eden project. Highly recommend!
Lovely peaceful quiet relaxing cottage. Everything we needed during our stay. Thank you
