Helford Reviews

Great accommodation in a lovely setting. Very peaceful, comfortable and relaxing. Our host, Ian, was very welcoming and helpful. Our only 'challenge' was an escaped goat, which says more about us townies than anything else! Recommended.
A lovely barn conversion in a great spot. Very peaceful and relaxing with everything we needed.
We had an amazing few days away at Telford, the owner was on hand for any problems. Well situated to travel around different places in Cornwall. The property was beautiful inside and out. Our only problem was, as there was 8 adults sharing, we could have done with more crockery and cutlery, just a minor problem, everything else was amazing!
Thanks great location & surrounding countryside. Loved walk around lake. Comfortable beds & good cooking facilities. Children enjoyed the trampoline & hot tub.
Great place, well described, beautiful setting and handy for Falmouth, Penryn etc etc
Had a lovely stay with my family, we would definitely visit again and I will be recommending to my friends and family. Thankyou
Rebecca
Lovely stay. Great property. Great host. Would recommend to others
Michael
The owner is really nice and friendly and helpful. . even left some nice biscuits and a lemon drizzle cake for us as a welcome pack so would highly recommend
Lindsay
We loved our stay at Helford and Argal, As a family of 11 we found the accommodation and facilities perfect. The children loved the Dart board, playstation, table tennis, pool table and the hot tub!! The tennis court was closed due to the time of year, but another brilliant option to keep everyone entertained. The location is ideal, only a short drive from Falmouth centre, and other areas of interest. The beautiful Argal lake is accessed at the bottom of the garden and well worth a visit. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend
Being really picky general maintenance around the property could be better few ... Being really picky general maintenance around the property could be better few cracks and here but apart from that all good
Matthew
Great location and perfect for a large family group. Our second stay.
Barbara
Potentially a beautiful holiday setting but in need of some updating and general maintenance. The owner was friendly and shared his own situation at time of our stay he stated he was going through a difficult divorce but he appeared to be enjoying life and spending time with his new younger girlfriend. The hot tub was not ready for our stay but when this was requested it was sorted within two days. Kitchen was ill equipped 1 tea towel. No apron, rusty cooking pans to name but a few. Various lights were not in working order and hot water was a problem but explained the boiler was set further away so needed to let the water run for a while. Total lack of outdoor seating area and what there was had not been maintained for a while. There were other issues to say the least but we managed to get by. It is a shame as it would be a perfect holiday base it just needs general maintenance and updating. It was clean which was good, but some disappointment experienced. I would have hoped that Sykes would pick up most of the issues on general inspections if they carry them out.
A lovely few days stay at Helford despite very wet weather. Helford is a very attractive, clean, warm and comfortable cottage and our family of 5 4 adults had plenty of space. Very comfortable beds and plenty of towels. Owner apologised on our arrival that the dishwasher had broken the previous week. A surprising lack of glasses just 3 tumblers which meant we had to use the wine glasses for water soft drinks! An easy fix that would make a difference. Would recommend Helford for families and adult groups and we would definitely consider returning in the future.
What a lovely find for a large family. There were 8 of us stopping and there was plenty of room for us all. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful and the younger people in our family really enjoyed the added bonus of the pub. It was such a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the views which im sure would of been even nicer had it not of rained so much. There was a lovely walk across the owners field to the lake which even on a cold miserable day was still beautiful The only small thing we would of liked a few more glasses in the property, I'm presuming that over time other guests have broken them and they have not been replaced and we only had one key which wasn't a massive issue because we just left the key in the bar, but had there been other quests staying I'm not sure I would of wanted to do that.
Beautiful cottage. Excellent facilities. Welcoming and professional service. Thank you
Really lovely property. The owners are lovely & the property was clean and tidy! Definitely recommend
What a great weekend we had coming down from Essex for my sons 21st who is at University. Stunning conversion very comfortable the cottage had everything we needed and more. Thank you
Richard
Wonderful, comfortable cottage for 7 of us. Living area very spacious. Having bar area with pool and PlayStation was like a little bonus. Thanks to Ian for a lovely barn conversion.
A very comfortable property with friendly and helpful owner. Great for kids with the goats and ponies, access to the walk around the lovely lake below, and well situated for access to South West Cornwall.
Lovely place to stay, quiet beautiful area, lovely house, lovely area, lovely place to go for walks, loved the tennis court, table tennis, darts and the bar area. Does need some maintenance, just little things, maybe a few more items in the kitchen. Owners were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay again. Only advice house gets very hot in warmer months so take a fans fans. But overall stay was lovely, we didn't want to leave.
Matthew
Great property and lovely location. The outside space is great and with local walks from the property. Highly recommended for a large family or group of friends. We have booked again for next year.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Helford cottage however there were several issue that seriously let the property down. When we first arrive and were greeted by Ian he started by listing issue with the cottagepremises that hadnt been fixed all of which he blames a various pre opus guests however the more we looked round the property we came to realise that this list was a complete list as not only were there broken toilet seats that cause injury to my niece but there were missing plugs, loose kitchen fitting, missing handles of both furniture and patio doors, one of the ensuite showers its sellotaped to the wall beneath a ceiling that is black with mould. There are a lot of additional extra at the property such as the bar, though stated in the listing it is stocked with soft drinks this is not the case, it also doesnt look to of been cleaned since the property opened in 2017! The hot tub comes with a changing area that no one in our group used as it also doesnt look to of been cleaned. The hot tub is a nice additional with a stunning view, Ian does seem to maintain it through the week but potentially needs to do this more frequently as often it was dose so highly that it bleached several people swim wear. The closer we looked at the Helford cottage itself we realised this was a continuous theme and all the beams and ceilings are covered in cobwebs and thick dust. Ian was helpful during our stay offering to supply us with disposable bbqs when we found out the ones listed and the ones we enquired about werent in working order. We had a lovely stay at the Helford cottage but felt that the upkeep and maintenance of the whole sight really let it down.
Barbara
Fantastic location, the property was lovely but needed a bit of TLC,the walk down to the reservoir was beautiful,we did it twice! We loved the goats and pony and was able to feed them carrots, they were very friendly. We would recommend a visit to the Ferryboat Inn serving a great menu with stunning views across the harbour. We were a group of five and had plenty of room with our own bathrooms and privacy, maybe an extra wardrobe would have been useful.
Nichola
Lovely holiday home very comfortable and the bar area was great! Great location for exploring and the views are beautiful. We stayed as a family of 7 with 2 dogs, the owners were very accommodating and helpful. The house was well stocked and had everything we needed for a lovely family break, we didnt want to leave!
Rosemary
When we arrived at Helford' were delighted to know we had the week ahead to enjoy being there. It was very attractive and comfortable and all the amenities in and around the house were fabulous. Just a couple of issues in the kitchen with the fridge and couldn't find a jug anywhere, but the owner quickly responded. A great place for holidaying!
We cannot fault Treverva Farm. Our accommodation was amazing. Everything you could possibly need, beautifully clean and a wonderful location. Great facilities on site, tennis court, hot tub, table tennis, darts, pool table, trampoline, bbq area, dog friendly plus the resident farm animals. Only 3 holiday lets on site so very peaceful and quiet. We had many fun days out but our children couldn't wait to get back to the farm again. Perfect holiday for us all. The children already asking when we can go back again !! Cannot rate this place highly enough. We all had a lovely holiday. Thank you to all at Treverva Farm.
Spacious accommodation and well equipped. Friendly owners who live onsite. Sitting room kitchen area has good views across hills to Argal reservoir. Goats, horses, cows, hens and grass tennis court, trampoline places to wander or sit and barbecue outside. Table tennis, pool and darts inside make for a good holiday! Hottub also available, check website
Found the property very tranquil and great for a family, however the maintenance of the property could do with a little updating ie extractor fans in bathrooms not working , also very annoying when opening the fridge door the freezer door would open with it not lined up correctly. we also had a problem with cracked toilet seat which when mentioned was tackled right away . the problems were small and didnt effect our holiday lovely spot with great views.
Fabulous property with great amenities. The view was spectacular, location superb. Would definitely recommend.
Rebecca
We had a lovely stay at the cottage, there was plenty of space for all of us and the children loved the trampoline and animals outside.
Lovely break. Friendly owners very accommodating, and kids loves the fact there were animals. Only down side was the additional cost for use of the hot tub. Its charged on a weekly basis, as we were only there for a weekend it proved quite costly for our party of 8. Also lovely little bar area , great idea and we loved using it but it was cold as radiator didnt seem to work tricky as we stayed in November..!!! We would def stay again.
Listed as 2 beds upstairs and 2 down when in fact it is 3 down and 1 up. cooker is a convection hob so your don't take your own pans unless you are sure they will work I usually take my pressure cooker. take 50p's if you want to use the pool table. We had a superb stay here with friends, everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. everyone is more than happy to recommend and intends to return in the near future. We enjoyed the cream tea left out for our arrival.
Very spacious. Good beds. Modern bathrooms and kitchen. Beautiful views. Short drive to wonderful seaside villages and Falmouth. Facilities were the biggest plus hot tub overlooking the valley, tennis, table tennis, bbq kits, darts, games, trampoline and animals for kids. Although the house had been cleaned and fittings are modern, there were quite a few areas that need some minor repair scrub to keep 5 star standard.
Stephen
Lovely cottage in a great location.
Absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location.
Davina
The cottage was warm comfortable had everything you needed to have a great family break. A good base for exploring Cornwall. The host were great and on hand if needed. Highly reccomend these cottages.
Excellent holiday cottage and very comfortable. Lots of extra amenities which was great too. The only things to watch out for is that the living spaces are upstairs and the steps arent particularly great for young toddlers but the accommodation as a whole was great for toddlers high chair, travel cot, animals on site, trampoline etc. We would definitely return! The owners were extremely friendly and helpful with local knowledge.
