Green Farm Stables, Hognaston

Fantastic wellappointed cottage that's just the right size and in just the right location for a gettogether of our family diaspora. We were greeted with a warm welcome from hosts Kate and Adrian, along with everyone's favourite, the ebulliant Monty, who also helped entertain us over the course of a wet bank holiday weekend. Even the smallest aspects were pretty well perfect for example the sharpest set of kitchen knives ever, easytofollow user guides and lovely finishing touches giving that allimportant sparkle. All of this in a wonderfully peaceful setting, within walking distance of a good pub. If Apple were ever to diversify from tech products into designing the perfect holiday cottage experience, this is what it'd look like!

I have just left a review regarding Green Farm cottage as we booked the stables and cottage together so may be repeating myself alittle. We booked both properties as we were a party of motorcyclists and needed the two properties to accomadate us all. We were met on arrival by the owners Kate and Adrian and made to feel instantly very welcome. They are two of the nicest people. They live next door and we spoke to them every day of our stay and they were so helpful and genuinely interested in our daily exploits. They made local suggestions which were really useful one of which was the red lion pub in the village the food there was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Both properties were very well presented exceptionally clean and well equipped. All of the beds were very comfortable. The whole plot is so well maintained the grounds are beautiful and to sit outside in the evenings was an absolute pleasure. You feel in the middle of the countryside peaceful quite and very relaxing and yet still only a few hundred yards from the village high street the hub of which is the previously mentioned red lion. Ashbourne is only 4.4 miles away which has all the shops you would require for your supplies. We all looked forward to returning to the accomadation after our days ride outs in stunning countryside. If you are looking for a relaxing peaceful stay in lovely surroundings in very comfortable accomadation with very pleasant owners I can recommend green farm cottage and stables.

The owners were very friendly and welcoming, and were straight on to a couple of very minor problems we encountered. The property was really beautifully restored and presented, and spotlessly clean. It is in a wonderfully quiet location but gives easy access to the local pub and Carsington Water by foot or vehicle.

We found the stables very well equipped with most things well thought out. There were lots of games for the children to play with. The only problem being not all of us could have a shower in the morning. The grounds were lovely and everwhere was well maintained. It was in a beautiful locations close to lots of sights. Very near to good pubs and restaurants

We celebrated Christmas at the Stables, which worked well for our party of seven. Really good space for eating and drinking and the surrounding countryside is wonderful for walking.

Kate and Adrian were excellent hosts, friendly and very helpful. The property was very spacious, comfortable and well presented. Its quite quirky and the pictures don't really do it justice. Very well equiped in the kitchen and other areas. Everything for a comfortable stay. Good location, not far to travel to local attractions. Extensive gardens and exterior, unfortunately not made use of due to time of year. Just a great holiday.

Had a fabulous stay in this lovely property. Great location, close to local walks eg Carsington Water, which is accessible direct from the door. Kate and Adrian were wonderful hosts and helped us to settle in. Good local pub. 2 minutes walk away, serving fine food and drink.

On the whole we all 6 of us had a wonderful time and would return to the property however there were shortcomings in that the dish washer was far too small to cope with our parties meals. It would be adequate for three people perhaps and the down stairs shower was totally inadequate.Both of these issues could be easily remedied.

Green Stables was delightful and ideal for our group of friends 8 of us for a weekend away. The accommodation was superb. Kate and Adrian live on site and made us feel very welcome. We will return. We would also recommend The Red Lion for a meal the food was outstanding. The best pub food we have all had in a long time.

Wonderful stay in a lovely cottage! Very friendly and helpful owners including Monty the dog! We had seven adults at one stage but there was plenty of room for everyone! My mother in law was with us and has mobility issues the ground floor bedroom and shower room were ideal although we did have some problems with the gravel and slab pathway to the front door! The location was great with Carsington Water on the doorstep and a local pub in the village! Plenty of great walks nearby! I would definitely recommend this accommodation!

We had a lovely multigenerational holiday in the beautiful Green Farm Stables. The property was very pretty and comfortable..Im missing the roses outside my bedroom window. The owners are very friendly and informative, and the grounds surrounding the cottage are a haven for wildlife. We particularly enjoyed watching the rabbits in the field next to the grounds. So peaceful.

We had a wonderful stay at Green Farm Stables. The accommodation had all the facilities you can think of and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is very quiet and ideal to explore the area and for walking.

This is one of the best kept holiday lets I have ever stayed in! It is so cosy and wellcared for and has everything you could need. We stayed with family friends of ours, and our 4 children, and we found it worked perfectly for us. It was really handy having plenty of bathrooms and toilets and there was also lots of storage and space to keep luggage, coats, wellies etc. The children loved exploring the garden, but I would say its not ideal for toddlers and very young children because its not all visible from the house and has a small stream at the bottom. The owners of the property are so lovely they provided lots of helpful info about the area too. Its within easy walking distance of Carsington water and is very welllocated for visiting other parts of Derbyshire. Chatsworth House is stunning and well worth the entry fee and I would highly recommend walking along Stangage Edge if you want the picture postcard stunning views over the peaks. We found Derbyshire to be one of the most welcoming and beautiful counties we have visited and we will certainly return! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We loved our holiday at Green Farm Stables, the location was perfect for walks from the door and all around the Peak District. The property it's self is stunning inside and out and we would highly recommend a stay here!

Perfect! A family weekend away to celebrate a 'big' birthday and what a fantastic property to stay in. Superb location quiet and peaceful. Fabulous rooms with excellent facilities there were 8 of us and it never felt crowded at all. A wonderful experience all round we would certainly rebook!

A beautiful property, spacious and well appointed. We had 7 of us staying and never felt on top of each other, and the kids had great fun exploring and playing in the grounds. The owners Kate and Adrian were very welcoming and friendly and, as a previous review stated, struck a perfect balance of being around to deal with any queriesissues or just have a chat! without being obtrusive. Highly recommended and thankyou for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful cottage in a nice quiet location. Everything was there that we needed for our weekend. Directions to the property where good,. Ashbourne, Matlock and Bakewell are all within 30 mins drive of the property. The Red Lion pub is a short walk up the drive and the food was excellent.

Green Farm Stables is a pretty property in the heart of the countryside, moments from walks to Carsington Water and also the local pub. Kate and Adrian, the owners, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The spaces inside and outside the property were immaculate, comfortable and spacious, and the kitchen was well equipped. WiFi was excellent.

Certainly one of the best rented properties we have had in the UK. Met all our requirements for a family group including a toddler. Attentive owners, unobtrusive, but on hand if needed. Set in a lovely village but secluded.

Green Farm stables was a lovely place to stay, a 15 minute walk from the picturesque Carsington Water. The owners were friendly and welcoming. There was lots of space in the house and it was well equipped. There was also a large, pretty outdoor area. Well situated for local attractions and excursions.
