Dale Barton Reviews

Elizabeth
This is a very nice house, and we would recommend it to others. It is wellequipped, with comfortable beds, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. It is also wellsituated for getting to lots of local walks, villages and towns.
Christopher
Wonderful farm house, very comfortable & well equipped. The log fire was fantastic. The area alongside is enclosed, ideal for our grand children to play and the dogs to roam around. We had a lovely family week and the surrounding countryside is beautiful and so quiet apart from the odd Moo We all enjoyed!! Thank you Helen for a fantastic week
The family were most appreciative of the comforts the cottage provided. It had all the utensils and cutlery needed for a stay, beds were comfortable and the towels beautifully soft, most of all it was very clean. The area is central to many locations such as Stourhead National Park, Stonehenge, Cheddar Gorge of course Wells Cathedral and many more places of interest. Thank you Helen!
Jacqui
A very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a really lovely location. We had a most enjoyable time at Dale Barton, exploring the area which is blessed with beautiful scenery and plenty of historic sites and places of interest. Highly recommended.
Susanne
Had a really lovely week at Dale Barton Cottage. Lovely welcome by Helen and she helped us about the surrounding area. The cottage is gorgeous and there was so much room for the three of us. Easy access to all the amazing tourist spots, basically 20 to 30 minutes drive.
We had a fabulous stay here at Dale Barton with the extended family. Very clean and comfortable with great amenities and plenty of space for everyone. Downstairs accommodation was ideal for our parents, with only a few steps up to a beautiful en suite bedroom and all the upstairs bedrooms suited us all very well. The house is also perfectly located for both the Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole, with the beautiful cathedral city of Wells only 15mins away. Will stay again. Highly recommend.
Thank you Helen, for a lovely stay again. We really love this place. Always clean and tidy, location is perfect for everything, and the barn has all the amenities we need!
Fabulous Cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Everything you need is provided. Super clean. Great bathrooms. A great pub within a nice walking distance is a great bonus.
As soon as we walked through the door we all felt immediately at home. My young grandson can't wait to return next year. Next time, rather than bring all our provisions with us we will call into one of the supermarkets in Wells before traveling on to Priddy. We can recommend The Ring O Bells pub in Wookey for traditional pub food. The Victoria Inn, Priddy, was recommended to us which we hope to visit next time. Thank you Helen, for such a lovely holiday home from home.
Loved our stay in Dale Barton. Extremely comfortable, clean and very warm, secure garden ideal for the dog and the downstairs bedroom was ideal for our daughter who has mobility issues. The information book in the kitchen was great, esp when we couldn't find the washing machine its in the coal store just outside Right on the doorstep of Cheddar Gorge and Wells the village of Priddy is lovely. Local pub Victoria Arms serves fabulous food and Priddy Good Food serves amazing breakfasts, Friday is apparently builders day when all the local builders go for breakfast, we were a party of 7 and we were happy to wait and it was worth it. Only thing I would suggest is a couple of flat baking trays for the oven and some instructions for the shower screen in the bath......we couldnt work out how to fold it back and it made turning the bathtaps on very awkward. Dale Barton is certainly a lovely place to visit and we hope to be back
Rachel
An excellent property for families or friends we were 5 Uni friends from 52 years ago. All the items you could want in the kitchen including ample fridge and freezer space and instructions for all appliances a very rare thing! 4 toilets and 3 bathroomshower rooms great. A beautiful area to explore.
A great cottage will all the home comforts you need. Would definitely recommend.
What a great holiday we had at Dale Barton! Fantastic location for so much to do within an hour! We went to Wookey hole caves, Puxton park, Longleat safari park and Burnham on Sea for a beach day! All within an hour! Barn itself is stunning, well maintained and looked after. Helen is fantastic and always there if you need her. We went with 2 families and we didn't feel on top of each other at all, it was very spacious! The ground floor bedroom was great for my mum who struggles with lots of steps, there are about 4 steps to the ground floor bedroom so perfect! Will definitely book again!
Stephen
Superb property, great location, fantastic walkable pub dogs loved it we loved it. Will be back. Thank you.
Maureen
Lovely spacious barn conversion. Well appointed with everything you need , without going out if you want a weeks break to get away from it all. Excellent WiFi , loads of board games, books & DVD selection. In a beautiful location on a working farm in the little hamlet of Priddy. It was lovely to watch the cows & new calves arriving in the surrounding fields. Perfect for Glastonbury, Cheddar, Wookey Hole & Wells. Glastonbury Festival was on the weekend we were there & some of the music carried to us in the evening. The Queen Victoria pub is only a 1015 walk & very welcoming , we did our best to work our way through their home cooked menu ! Thank you Helen & family for a perfect holiday.
A lovely, cosy cottage in a stunning location we love the middle of nowhere but with easy access to Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Bristol we used Park and Ride at Long Ashton, Glastonbury and Weston Super Mare. Great dog walks from your doorstep. House had everything you might need and the owner is lovely, helpful and approachable. Thanks for a very relaxing week.
Anthony
6 of us plus a dog had a lovely time. Inside very comfortable, spacious and friendly dog loved running around the enclosed garden. Just a few minutes drive from Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Wells positioning couldnt be much better. Great week had by all.
Our family stay at Dale Barton was just the best. Helen made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble if you needed anything. The surrounding area, towns and countryside are just lovely to enjoy. We all had a great time on the farm!
Matthew
Lovely clean house and looked after, in a ideal location. Only 10 min drive from wookie hole and 15 min to chedder. Food shopping only 1015min drive. Local pub was very welcoming. Will definitely come back
A beautiful. spacious , warm and comfortable large cottage to stay in. Our family of 8 adults and 2 dogs found it wonderful. Plenty of room for everyone and enough space to chill out. The log fire was especially lovely on cold wet evenings. A very well equipped cottage and the location was excellent for exploring all areas of Somerset. We met the owners who were friendly and helpful. Would recommend spending time here to anyone.
Enjoyed the few days at this property when visiting the area for the somerset illuminated carnivals. The pub in the village was good for our first evening meal ,The accommodation was ideal as we needed four bedrooms although with two of us being disabled we coped with the steps in the cottage , would recommend the property to anyone visiting the area .
Kenneth
Everything just fine. Accommodation exactly as expected, very spacious and with everything we needed available. I did find the ensuite shower room a bit tight so should loose a bit of weight!!! Beds very comfortable in fact everything very comfortable. TV in main room a bit small but didn't watch much TV anyway as out and about in the glorious Mendips. Ideal for our dog with a porch type area to clean the dog and ourselves after some rainy weather. Met the owner who was very helpful who sorted out a couple minor problems the same day. Had a fab stay AND will book up next year. Ken
Exceptionally stunning cottage located in a beautiful village. Bigger than we expected and the views were beautiful. The outside area was perfect for our 4 year old and secure for our small dog so we were comfortable letting him roam the garden area. Kitchen was really well stocked with equipment and white goods even had a separate small drinks fridge. The bathrooms were beautifully spacious and bright. Plenty of parking too and we didn't feel overlooked or crowded by the surrounding farm or cottages. We were able to see the cows every morning and evening which was brilliant especially for our son. This has been the cleanest holiday cottage we have ever rented as well, being dog friendly we were even more impressed. Helen was incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our stay she even provided us with candles and torches during an unexpected power cut and kept us up to date with estimated times and that the entire village was affected. We were left to our own devices but could knock the door for any issues we had and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend taking a torch if your planning a late evening jaunt to the pub as the village has no streetlights but it definitely added to the ambience on the walk home We used phone torches and were absolutely fine. The local pub The Victoria Inn is a must visit as the food is delicious, a quint essential country pub in its decoration with small dining huts outside a few even have chandeliers and play area is great for kids. The staff are friendly and dogs are welcomed too. They were able to cater to various allergies which was really appreciated. The cottage is surrounded by 100s of walks and easy access to Wells where Hot Fuzz was filmed, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and Street. Thank you Helen, we had an incredible week and would return again in a heartbeat.
We had a fabulous week at dale barton cottage. The cottage was just perfect and loved it that we all had our own bathrooms and plenty of space to chill out after a busy day. A big thank you to Helen for taking the time to show us around her dairy farm and showing my grand daughter all the baby calves being fed. Mabel said that was the best bit of the holiday
Lovely cottage, very well equipped. Owners close by if you need anything. Not too far away from most things. Pub 10 minutes away, meals are delicious. Definitely recommend, great for a family holiday.
Booked for a family get together. Although not a disabled cottage, we booked for the downstairs bedroom and bathroom for ourselves, only to find there were a small staircase up to the downstairs facilities. Since I booked the cottage last year my brother became disabled and Helen was very helpful and supplied a single bed in the lounge, problem was the downstairs toilet was down 2 long unmarked steps past the kitchen with no handrail, so was forced with difficulty upstairs at night, this also meant my brother could not access the kitchen. I think these details should be made obvious, as with saying there was a downstairs bedroom and bathroom suggests good for anyone with limited mobility, defiantly a handrail down to kitchen and toilet needed. Also some minor things lacking such as bin liners and dishwasher tablets there were only 2! No way to mop the shower after use, without having to request a mop, and there was no way to fit the Stairgate that was identified in the cottage details, which would have been useful as the first bedroom was right next to the top of stairs. Helen was very helpful in trying to accommodate our requests, the cottage was nice and clean but Sykes should be more accurate with the details, it's the details that they leave out that are sometimes very important. Only suitable for the able bodied, having downstairs facilities implies otherwise. June Wale from Devon, london and Birmingham

A beautiful property in a peaceful setting, just what we needed. Clean, spacious, comfortable, homely and fully equipped. We loved our stay at Dale Barton, and would recommend to anybody who was looking for a relaxing break.
Fantastic holiday. Couldn't fault the cottage, location and facilities would highly recommend and love to return for another holiday in the future.
Our family's stay in Priddy was the holiday of a lifetime! And the accommodations at Dale Barton truly was the cherry on top! Owner Helen was always available and so kind. We enjoyed our conversations with her. The home was comfortable, very clean, and perfect for our family of seven. We hope to come back someday!
Eileen
Enjoyed our stay in the lovely cottage peaceful surroundings
We really enjoyed our week at Dale Barton it is situated in a beautiful area and is very comfortable and well equipped. Would suggest that more provisions are left for example we only had 2 dishwasher tablets and a small amount of washing up liquid. Would be nice for a welcome hamper of some description just in comparison with other places we have stayed. Also toilet rolls were in short supply! We know its self catering but as we say just comparing. Generally very comfortable, quiet, well located and well equipped.
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Dale Barton Cottage. The accommodation is perfect for families holidaying together and for the dogs too. The location is ideal for exploring Cheddar, Wells, Weston Super Mere, Glastonbury and beyond into Bristol and Bath. There is plenty to do in the area regardless of the weather. We highly recommend this cottage and hope to stay again soon. Thank you
The property was just as described, easy to find and with everything you could need for a very comfortable stay. Definately on our list to go back to at some point.
Really lovely property in a beautiful location. Easy to visit Wells and Cheddar and all the beauty spots of Somerset and Wiltshire. And we were very lucky with the weather. Only downside was lack of mobile reception but WiFi was available.
Gareth
Despite the weather not being on our side, we enjoyed a superb week at Dale Barton, exploring the local area as part of a family get together. The accommodation is very comfortable, exactly as described and exceeded expectations. The previously mentioned lack of fridge space is no more as a fridge and separate freezer are located below the breakfast bar in addition to the existing smaller fridge located on top of the dishwasher. Luckily, we visited the right places on the right days in order to tie in with the weather forecast Wells, Bath, Street, Glastonbury, Fleet Air Arm Museum Yeovilton and the Yeo Valley organic gardens in addition to their HW canteen for breakfast on the last day all very memorable. The tour of Wells Cathedral is a must as well as one of the free tours of Bath. Glastonbury was a real eye opener, very alternative and quite bizarre. The views from the Tor were magnificent and well worth the effort. All in all, an excellent property which I'm sure we'll look to stay at again. Thank you.
Debbie
Idyllic setting for a relaxing holiday ,everything was perfect ,facilities of cottage ,cleanliness , perhaps a later checkout than 930 would be good even 10 am . Would recommend to friends
Glenda
The cottage was clean and well furnished and the accommodation suited our family of eight adults. We found fridge storage a little limited but we were there for Christmas I'm sure it would be fine at other times of the year. The kitchen sink is a little small for washing things like the grill pan and the area around the sink a bit cramped for team washing up but these are minor gripes. The owner was very pleasant and helpful and we would certainly consider staying again.
Fantastic property Plenty of space for 8 people Spotlessly clean, extremely ... Fantastic property Plenty of space for 8 people Spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable beds and sofas Only criticism could do with bigger saucepan We had a brilliant family holiday for 60th birthday
Dale Barton is a lovely house in a great location. The house is equipped with everything you need, and very spacious. The beds are super comfy, all 5 of us slept well. The owner is extremely nice and helpful. We cant wait to visit there again.
Excellent holiday property in rural location that suited our needs to visit the many tourist attractions in the heart of Somerset. Thank you.
