Bill's House Reviews

Barbara
We very much enjoyed our stay at Bill's House, which is a great property for large family gatherings, with its open plan layout but nevertheless 3 separate comfortable seating areas, plus large dining table. It's location was good easy walking distance to the supermarket and Whitby centre. It was also extremely easy to walk out onto the Cinder Way so the dogs could be exercised from the doorstep.
Great property for a family & friends celebration. Comfortable and plenty of room for a large group. Good value for money in a great location to walk into Whitby and its attractions.
It was one of the best cottages we have stayed in. As it was half term we didn't experience any of the slight noise disturbance from the adjacent school that we were advised about. With our party bringing two EVs, we found that Whitby is behind the times with EV charging points and Pickering, a much smaller town, has better provision. The parking in Whitby is also a nightmare.
Carole
We had a lovely week at Airy Hill Farm Cottage plenty of room for three families to spread out. Loads of seating and a lovely big dining table so we could all sit and enjoy our meals together. Very clean with 4 bathrooms and 2 separate cloakrooms, It would have been nice to have more smaller saucepans and serving dishes, also having 3 families it would have nice to have a tumble dryer as it was difficult getting the washing dry. Having said we all enjoyed our holiday.
We had the best family holiday at Airy Hill Farm. The accommodation was brilliant. Plenty of room, a lovely big table for meals and family games and well within walking distance of the beach. Booking was easy and the lady was very helpful when we asked a couple of questions. Thanks for making our holiday special
The bathrooms were great but the kitchen was on the small side and the cookware was limited. I would not liked to have been there with a full house. The lounge areas were comfortable but I felt that the property was let down by the worn carpets and rather scruffy garden. I am afraid that messing about with Q codes to get basic information about systems such as rubbish disposal or suggestions for activities in the area is not a great idea. Give me a folder every day.
I have shared feedback but I would like to add photos.
We were all very happy and comfortable 6 adults 3 kids and 2 dogs loved spending ... We were all very happy and comfortable 6 adults 3 kids and 2 dogs loved spending the week with my family had fabulous weather if anything could improve I would like to request bigger towels
Jennifer
Very comfortable property to a large family or friends group. Any small problem rare in our case even though we are frequent visitors is sorted immediately by the friendly owners. Highly recommended.
Kathryn
Have been before, well kept comfortable property with plenty of room. We had Xmas here and had everything we needed to cook Xmas lunch for us all.
Monique
Very spacious property, ideally situated for Whitby. Ample parking. Garden not dog friendly at least not for our dog and we found some deposits from previous visitors this is no criticism towards landlords , more to other dog owners! Fantastic amount of bathrooms upstairs and beds were very comfortable! Kitchen and utility room very well stocked! We would definitely recommend this property!
Elliot
We had a great weekend at Airy Hill , the house was spotlessly clean and warm when we arrived. Lots of space for everyone and a pleasant walk into Whitby. The oven didnt work very well and the bathroom upstairs would benefit from a blind or curtains. Overall we loved it. Thank you!
Malcolm
Lovely place. Bedrooms all good and plenty toilets and showers etc.
Deborah
We are a family of 11 and a dog and stayed during October halfterm. On the whole the house was lovely and suited out family with ample sized rooms and enclosed garden for our dog. It would have been ideal if the large upstairs ensuite bedroom had a sofa bed or a single as our youngest child didn't want to sleep in a separate room. If I had to be picky just a couple of small niggles, the house was looking very tired in places, with a couple of broken blinds and curtain rail in downstairs bedroom. The kitchen could do with more cooking pots, pans, serving dishes and a whisk. We are a large family and cooked every night. The fridge in the utility room had a strange smell, and a tumble dryer with children is a must. Finally lockable bathroom and toilet doors with teenagers and adults is needed. Having said all that we enjoyed our stay and would come again.
Not sure I want to tell the world how wonderful this Airy Hill Farm Cottage is, in case it gets constant bookings! Superb property for family gettogethers. Very clean and well appointed. From a cooks point of view, apart from needing a whisk and a serving platter ,lots of equipment . Plenty of sitting areas so if you what to be alone you can. Can highly recommend.
We were misled about how many bathrooms there were. We wanted 6 and when we arrived there were 4. It clearly states at the top of your information 6 bathrooms. I dont know how you can call 2 toilets bathrooms. We did have a problem with the heating and the oven. Rebecca came and sorted the oven. The heating programme was not set right and we had to reprogram it, as the heating was coming on in the middle of the night instead of the day. We did have a lovely stay regardless of these issues.
The accommodation was just excellent. All the facilities you ever want within accommodation. Very clean, whole family loved it and also the dogs.Good parking Perfect location. Short distance to sea front. Would highly recommend this accommodation.
Angela
We had a great time staying at this holiday house. Very close to Whitby as its a short walk into town along the cinder path. The house is next to a collage with fields for the kids to play and run around on. The house was big enough for us all 6 adults, 5 kids and the downstairs bedroom was perfect for grandparents. We counted 6 bathroomstoilets! We had a comfortable stay, quiet at night time and had everything we needed for an enjoyable holiday! Thank you for letting us stay
Ideally situated for getting in to Whitby especially for the walkers in our party and to get on the cinder track. Everything we could need was in the cottage the extra fridge and separate freezer bonus, plenty of rooms lower ground floor so people could have a quiet sit! Crockery & glasses plentiful fantastic place would highly recommend it for a large family gathering secure gardens and parking. A big thank you
2nd stay here. Lovely roomy cottage for our large family get together again. Only small niggle is the low step between the dining room into the small lounge toilet utility room on the ground floor could do with some tape on to highlight the difference in floors as we all kept tripping. But we loved our stay and will hopefully be booking to return again. Thank you.
Corinne
Great cottage, spacious and well maintained. The extra bathrooms were a real bonus. Great location with lots of beaches and rock pools to explore nearby. We had a great stay with our family.
We had a fantastic time at the Airy hill cottage, there was 9 adults and 2 children, would definitely recommend this property it had everything you needed in a home for a large group. A 10 min walk into Whitby, we also visited robin hoods bay which is so beautiful, falling foss was also a great place to visit with great walks and view's of a waterfall, also Goathland and obviously the Whitby Abby.
Deborah
We had a fantastic New Year at Airy Hill Farm Cottage. Plenty of room for 10 adults and two dogs. It was a bonus to be able to walk into Whitby centre. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable.
This was just the perfect place to celebrate my 70th birthday with all my family. It was spacious, comfortable and extremely well equipped. The bedrooms were great, and so many of them! There were 9 of us, including 2 children, and everyone was very comfortable. We loved the long dining table, and we appreciated the Christmas decorations very much. We were in festive party mode from the moment everyone arrived on the Friday evening. With so many of us we appreciated the extra fridge in the utility room. I could not fault the accommodation in any way.
Robert
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will probably book again
Alison
We had a few problems finding this property the postcode given on the property details is different from the one it says to use for satnav directions and of course, we managed to use the wrong one! Cue driving hither and yon in a torrential downpour until we eventually read the instructions properly and manage to find the right turn off. The turn off is signposted Whitby Sixth Form and you need to go right up to the school grounds before turning off into Airy Hill Caravan Park and cottages. You then need to drive up what looks like another cottage's drive way before realising you are actually in the right place. The parking spaces are all labelled clearly, which is helpful but I think it would be quite tight if you had more than 2 cars to park if the 2 spaces for another cottage are being used luckily not the case for us. The property itself is spacious, clean and well equipped, part of a complex of several other holiday properties. Plenty of room for our party of 4 adults and two small children. Minor quibbles are that there is no opening window for the two dormer bedrooms and this made them quite stuffy, although keeping the doors open during the day did make a difference. The baththere is only one is also quite slippery with no handles to hold, even with the nonslip mats in the bottom, so care needs to be taken there. The downstairs bedroom was only used for the shower but was very spacious and set up well for anyone who has mobility problems. The wooden cot was much appreciated by our youngest grandchild, with a mattress supplied, and the wooden highchair was very sturdy. We had a minor issue with the dishwasher tablets supplied and the owner offered to visit to look at it we solved the problem so a visit was not necessary it was nice to have a quick reply and help offered. As mentioned by other users, not a great number of toilet rolls supplied but I had brought plenty with me. The handwash supplied for the sinks is rather thin but again, I had brought my own. The enclosed garden was great for the children to play in and only a short drive to the beach or town centre. All in all, a great holiday property.
Andrew
A perfect stay for our large family group. Great location within easy reach of Whitby.
The property was well situated for exploring Whitby and the moors. Great for morning and evening walks with the dog with lovely views of Whitby, walking to the viaduct is highly recommended. Lots of space for our party of 10 adults and a child. The ground floor bedroom was ideal for my parents with mobility issues. The kitchen was small but had plenty of crockery and utensils. Comfortable nights sleep, even though a couple of the beds were a bit squeaky. Plenty of bathroomstoilets, but more than 1 toilet roll would have been appreciated, especially as arriving just before a bank holiday. A lovely place to stay
Geoffrey
We enjoyed staying in Airy Hill Farm Cottage and it was great to find the footpath down to the Harbour and also the Cinder Path towards Scarborough. The accommodation was right for what we needed and we would recommend it to friends. The Shower Room at the top of the stairs for the twin room had very little pressure. The tin opener could do to be replaced as it was very difficult to open tins. An additional small pan would have been useful and also a pint jug for making custard and gravy. All in all the property was very good.
The cottage was large and clean with all equipment required for our visit and clean. Excellent parking and proximity to local town. Two small items needed attention and they were sorted when we contacted owner via their system. We have thanked them and suggested a couple of changes that we believe would help for the future and our visit was lovely. Our family had a great time.
Debbie
The cottage was lovely, very spacious, parking facilities excellent, and once you knew about the short cut very convenient to get to the town. The only things we found that could be an improvement was a few more kitchen utensils like a sieve a few smaller pans. The central heating in the bedrooms were very welcome, but the group did get cold downstairs, underfloor heating does not warm the rooms, if the week had not warmed up slightly and was still at minus degrees the cottage downstairs would have been freezing.
Louise
I have been coming years to this cottage and I can see some improvements have been made, which is brilliant, although the carpets could do with replacing, more then 1 toilet roll should he left and the downstairs curtains are in desperate need of replacing. Loved the Christmas touches, made it really cosy
Spacious cottage but the downstairs bedroom was locked so we couldn't use it apparently because we booked a year before and the price had gone up! ! Not ideal for my 80 year old mum. The lady I spoke to was quite rude. There was no remote control for the larger TV but not really an issue for us. Nice clean bathrooms and well equipped.
The cottage was so spacious and clean. Everything needed was provided. There were 7 of us staying and with all the separate areas we never felt in top of each other. The accessible bedroom downstairs with en suite was great for my 81 year old father law. We would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend this property.
Lovely cottage. setting and proximity to the town
Deborah
Lovely roomy cottage! Window hinge in the single room needs attention
We all had a really lovely stay . Plenty of room and Comphy. But need a proper washing line and Airer was broken and a leg missing from foot stall also dirt under sofas in lounge But otherwise comphy
Kathryn
Love this place second time staying here this time with the parents and their dogs in tow. Comfy, homely, relaxing, good location. We will be back.
