Y Granar (the Granary Reviews

This place is lovely with absolutely stunning views. The hot tub is the icing on the cake
As we promise Huw every year, we returned to Y Granar last week for our 5th visit, and what has become a post Christmas family tradition, to celebrate my son's birthday in early January. The whole place is just amazing, and absolutely perfect for a totally relaxing time. From looking at the fantastic views of the surrounding countryside from the two front bedrooms, spending quality time in the hot tub, or just playing board games or doing jigsaws by the log fire. Everything is 5
A lovely place to stay. Very comfortable.
Amazing views! We stayed in 3 of the cottages at Castellmoch Barns and Y Granar was the smallest but had the best views especially from the hot tub and the bedroom with incredible windows which open up to create a balcony stunning!! Large kitchen dining lounge area with all amenities you would need. Handy to have things like a travel cot, stair gates and high chair at the property. Access to other cottages but can also be private. We didnt hear the people in the 4th property, and when we saw them they said they didnt hear us at all either. A brilliant base to explore this beautiful area. Owners were very helpful with queries. Diolch yn fawr iawn
A lovely lovely stay. Son and daughter in law and new baby stayed. Everything was perfect from stunning views to a spotless beautiful cottage . Thank you Huw the very caring host. Will definitely return to this ideallic location in stunning Wales
Donovan
The property was amazing, and I'm usually very picky! The location was beautiful with great views from the upstairs bedrooms. The property was very nicely laid out and the hot tub was a great extra. Would definitely stay here again.
Perfect setting, peaceful and relaxing. Owner was very friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return in the future. The hot tub with views was superb.
This is the smallest unit in a complex of four similar barn conversions. However the external layout is well thought out, looking away from the other properties and onto a very beautiful view, so we did not feel at all overlooked or disturbed although the other units were not fully occupied. The modern interior is very spacious and comfortable, and very well equipped to a high specification. Beds were very comfortable and all bedrooms had ensuite showersbaths. The owners and staff were accessible and very prompt in dealing with any minor queries. The booking process and preholiday information from Sykes was clear and efficient. It helped that we had very good weather, but overall it was an exceptionally nice and hasslefree holiday.
Absolutely loved our stay at the cottage in Wales! It was the perfect mix of cozy and charming, with stunning views of the countryside right outside. The cottage was wellequipped, spotlessly clean, and full of character exactly what youd hope for in a peaceful Welsh getaway. Would definitely return!
Beverley
Beautiful property in an amazing location. The property had everything we needed and more. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again.
This was our 4th stay at Y Granar for our annual family birthday celebrations, and yet again, we all had a fantastic time, and never want to leave! ! The weather was perfect, the hot tub is always an attraction, the views from the barn were stunning and Huw is amazing. We will definitely return for a fifth visit. Many thanks!
Stanley
No big deal but WIfi or TV working on arrival but fixed promptly once reported. Good area for mountain biking and walking with its own character.
Cassie
We had a lovely 2 night family stay for my husbands birthday the cottage was spotless and the hot tub was amazing! Loved it and would definitely recommend, were looking to book again next year
The accommodation is good. . and there are some points we hope to inform you about 1 There is a smell inside the house, perhaps from the fuel in the bathroom next to the main entrance.. and despite all attempts, the smell remained annoying 2 I went down with my child on the road going up to the neighboring fields, and a young man surprised me and said that walking on this road is forbidden because it is private.. and I did not know that.. and the pictures of the house and its surroundings make us feel that we can walk in those fields.. then it became clear that most of them are fenced.. so can we walk and go up the mountain through those fields next time or not? 3 On the last day, a woman came to clean.. but she was angry and her face was down and she was completely silent and had upset looks.. so you can take this aspect into consideration.. with thanks and appreciation
Lorraine
The Granery is a lovely barn conversion. It is decorated to a very high standard. I was worried about being cold during our stay. I should not have worried. It was warm and welcoming. The bedrooms are luxurious, and comfortable. It was lovely to be in the hot tub, both during the day and evening. The views are amazing! A very pleasant touch was when I received a knock at the door, to welcome us. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. I would definitely recommend The Granary.
Alison
We had an excellent long weekend, everything was absolutely perfect. Huw made us feel extremely welcomed, and supported should we need anything. The property was stunning very well appointed and contained everything we needed. Well miss waking up to the stunning views each morning. All in all, a fabulous stay. Thank you.
The cottages, location and staff are all fantastic. We have stayed here a few times now and love coming back. Planning for the next trip already! Would recommend to EVERYONE!
Stephanie
We had a great stay and its a great property, we stayed over Christmas the views are incredible and although not much is open this time of year theres still lots to do, we explored Snowdonia, towns and local waterfalls, the fireplace and hot tub after a long walk we really enjoyed. We arrived to a welcome food basket and Christmas decorations. The owners were very quick to respond or fix anything and visible. Its the first time Ive stayed in holiday accommodation, it comes with some quirks and is not perfect especially as they are multi used. The biggest negative was the bed in the master room, it's broken and way past its best, I ended up sleeping on the sofa some nights. The experience of this type of getaway has not put me off and I would do it again.
Jeanette
We all loved it

Nice, relax, peaceful place! View was amazing! Great time in hot tub, very nice playground area for children in the property you will found everything what you need it comfortable, clean and etc.
The house was spotless and equipped to a high standard. The hot tub was great. The setting is amazing very picturesque. Despite being part of a few holiday buildings together, Y Granar is really private. Would highly recommend.
Loved our stay here! Perfect just like pictured. Definitely will be back
Absolutely loved our stay definitely recommend to everyone everything was perfect and highly thought of will definitely be back there was a safe place for my granddaughter to play and she loved it specially waking up to see all the sheep. The views where stunning
Had a great and restful time a Y Grana. The kids and myself enjoyed the hot tub. It had everything we needed. Will definitely be back.
Just PERFECT in every way . .... The setting of the property, the facilities provided, along with the cleanliness overall, the views from the windows and the hot tub, the peace and tranquility, and just absolutely everything else, made this, our second weeklong holiday at Y Granar in 3 weeks, just the most memorable holidays ever spent with our extended family. And finally, Huw, the owner, is one in a million. Many thanks to him for all his help and great chats. It's all down to Huw that we shall all return for a third visit very soon!
Deborah
This was one of the nicest accommodations we have stayed in very clean and comfortable. Showers were great, beds really comfy and plenty of room. Hot tub was fab, very private and great views, we would definitely recommend
The TV was rather high up on the wall with no means of bringing it down. Could it be placed further down the wall at a normal TV height so that you are not always craning upwards. It would also be nicer if it was on a bracket so it could be angled into the room for everyone to see properly. We were only a party of four so coped but the cottage sleeps six and people would have to sit maybe too snuggly on the sofa in order to view it properly. Otherwise it was a wonderful place to stay and the owner was very welcoming.
Cottage is so wonderful, the views, the facilities. ....really brilliant. Totally enjoyed our stay and will certainly be up for visiting again!!
Rebecca
A fantastic cottage with great facilities. Huw was incredibly helpful. We loved our week there and will be back again.
Charlotte
Great property. Perfect for a sociable and rural relaxing stay. Provided us with a welcome basket. Shower was stuck on a very hot temperature but the owner was extremely quick to fix this which was great! Hottub was an added bonus. Wish we couldve stayed for longer. Stunning bedrooms with stunning views
Lovely property with very clean facilities, we had the best stay here and will definitely be going back! Would recommend to anybody looking for a break away
Adesola
We had a lovely time here. Property is in excellent condition and has everything needed for a good stay. 5star experience all round.
Absolutely fabulous. Everything was perfect. Couldnt have asked for more. Spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend this property and will return. Thank you Huw.
Edward
Wonderful... .and these are comments just to be helpful ....not criticisms! 1. Directions should make clear it's not the FIRST entrance on the left coming from Oswestry because the no entry is in a different colour we read Castellnoch Barns a thought it was the entry road 2. Oven gloves would be useful addition in kitchen 3. In big upstairs bathroom it would be good to have a shelf over or near the basin. 4. Fence is a bit too high to see the wonderful view over the hills from the table and the hot tub. But excellent ....and replacement for broken kettle in a matter of minutes was very impressive
Lovely warm comfy house, Hew was really nice and made sure everything was in order, the house was comfortable and kitchen fully equipped with everything you need. Hottub was fantastic! Beautiful views and super quiet.
Ellinor
Fantastic stay at the Y Granar. You can see how beautiful this house is on the photos but decor and views when we arrived were even more amazing. So warm and cosy with the underfloor heating plus the log fire. A lovely little welcome basket full of treats which was so thoughtful. Thank you, we only wished wed of booked a Longer stay. We will definitely be booking up again and hopefully get enough friends to fill all three of the properties.
Tracey
We loved our stay at y granary and are coming back to one of the bigger properties in march. the area is really beautiful and we spent the evenings stargazing from the hot tub. the properties are amazing and Huw the owner is incredibly helpful. looking forward to returning soon.
