Woodlands, Cowdale

A fantastic stay for our extended family, two of who were celebrating birthdays. The accommodation is fabulous and well stocked with stunning views out up the countryside. The bedrooms were lovely and the beds comfortable. We will certainly be coming back!! Thank you!!

Being a party of 12 plus a 4 month old baby and 4 dogs it is not easy to find accommodation that ticks all the boxes. Woodlands ticked them all. We will definitely have this accommodation at the top of our list for our next family gathering. The gate at the top of the stairs was a BIG help as it confined dogs to area with adults. Bath sheets instead of bath towels are also a big bonus. Sometimes its just those simple but effective things that make all the difference. Just a pity the weather wasnt so kind to us. A lovely place to stay, well equipped, comfy and attractive. We were having a late extended family Christmas with plenty of good food and games and Woodlands was ideal! Thank you.

Fantastic. We were shocked at the size of the place, it's huge and was perfect for our family of 12 visitors. Everything we need was there for starters, tea, coffee, milk etc. The owners obviously take great pride in making sure everything is kept in great condition. Beds comfy and plenty of room in each of the bedrooms. We will be returning.

We had a fabulous time, well situated for visiting derbyshire landmarks. Our hosts were very helpful and were available when we needed a little help. Great place to stay.

Great for large groups. Owners were quick to sort problems out. Was a bit cold, so it would be good to be able to alter the heating. All in all though a great base for the wonderful Peak District

A wonderful 5 night stay in this amazing cottage. It was perfect for our large family. We used 5 of the 6 bedrooms. Plenty of space and tableware for large groups. Lovely walks within easy reach

We had a lovely stay in Woodlands for a family get together over the August Bank holiday weekend. .. Woodlands was the perfect size for eleven of us plus one four legged fur baby... We did have an issue with one of the toilet seats but it was rectified within 30 minutes... Overall a solid 910...

Lovely property, great location, wonderful hoists.

Lovely open plan living area with option to use smaller snug. Kitchen well equipped with two ovens which great. Light pull switches are very loud can hear upstairs! Great to have large dining table we can all sit around. Owners very friendly

I mistakenly ordered the food shop to arrive on Thursday rather than Friday, but Lucy and Andrew ensured that the delivery was received and packed away in the kitchen. I am so grateful to them for this they really went over and above what was necessary.

The only criticism we have is that another toilet for the people that are sharing a bathroom would be useful, if someone was in The shower bath in that bathroom there was no available toilet.

We had a great time at Woodlands celebrating my brother's 60th. The accommodation provided everything we needed for 10 people to have a relaxing time with plenty of space. It's not very often you stay somewhere where everyone can sprawl out on the sofas! Great location for a trip to Alton Towers, walking and visiting the area.

We were a group of nine people, incluing two youngsters, and had plenty of space to move aroumd and socialise. The 'Snug' was a bonus if anyone wanted to be quiet. The games and jigsaws provided were good and they were used. If you have a particular game that you like to play, such as Monopoly then take your own. The site is well located for all the the places that we wished ro visir. The Village of Eyam, including the museum, and the Heights of Abraham, are well worth a visit. Everything that you could possilbly need was provided, including tea towels, and a basic welcome kit for a drink and a biscuit on arrival. Would highly reccommend. I did lose my hearing aids, which was a blow, but that has no reflectionon the property, just on my own carelessness. Thank you for a really good place to stay.

The upstairs area is huge and extremely comfortable meeting our needs very well. All facilities worked well. We didn't use the snug so I cant comment on that, preferring to be all together as a group in the lounge where the large settees are brilliant. Kitchen facilities were a little lacking, e.g slotted spoon, sieve for rice the ones there had holes that were too big, sharp knives. Lots of pans available, including 2 steamers which I love! Large double oven which was great even if figures on knobs had rubbed off! If we'd been staying for the week another freezer would have been invaluable, however for the weekend we managed. Downstairs the bedrooms and bathrooms were all very well furnished and comfortable. We did have problems with water supply one day when we all wanted a shower at the same time as a bath being run as we had all just arrived back form our walk! Otherwise the water supply was excellent. The biggest issue we had was the lack of a separate toilet, and one main bathroom being shared between 4 people in fact it could have been 6 if we had been fully occupied. There was regular occasions when people were 'booking' their showers baths and making them short so that they could accommodate others needing to use the toilet. A separate toilet would resolve this. Also a shame there is no toilet upstairs but I can understand the logistics to this. Parking was excellent and facilities for recycling were much appreciated as we usually have to take our compost home! Overall as a group of friends we had an excellent stay with some minor frustrations! Thank you

There were 11 of us and the accommodation was perfect for us. The huge upstairs room had enough comfy seating for us all. On the whole there were enough pans and utensils. The odd thing that was missing was an ironing board though we had an iron. However, one was soon found and the owners were really helpful.

We all really enjoyed our stay here, such a lovely property which is great for a big family get together. It is well kept with everything you could need and very clean. The owners were very pleasant and friendly and on hand for anything you need. We could not find any fault with the property and would highly recommend it.

We couldn't fault the property. Spacious, extremely well equipped, and in a very good location. It was absolutely ideal for our party of nine. The next time we have a large amount of people to accommodate for a holiday, we will be back.

A fabulous property for large groups, with plenty of bathrooms, a large main room for gathering and games, and a small TVquiet room for those who want a break from the group. Very helpful owners nearby who are happy to drop off fresh eggs from their chickens. We found a nice, mostly off road, walk into Buxton and plenty of other amazing walks a short car drive away.

Lovely spacious barn conversion, plenty of room for three generations! The grandkids loved it.. as did everyone else.Very well equipped kitchen every thing you need, all bedrooms lovely sizes and comfortable beds all in a very nice location. We made some lovely memories for my 70 th birthday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodlands. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Better than any weve stayed in before. Key collection and welcome was warm and straightforward. Quiet location and good allocation of space for parking

A very spacious and well equipped property in a tranquil and picturesque location. It was ideal for a large family holiday and was within easy reach by car to a number of attractions such a caves and facilities such as pubs, restaurants and supermarkets in Buxton. However, the farm did sell fresh eggs. As a minor point, a mirror over the sink instead of on the back wall of the ensuite of the bedroom we occupied would have been useful for wet shaving. A very enjoyable holiday.

Beautiful cottage in a quiet setting with a peaceful outlook. A very comfortable stay. It was lovely to have a long table we could all sit at together and the view of the farm was idyllic. Fortunately the weather picked up so we walked across the fields to Buxton too!

Woodlands is a brilliant place for a family holiday group break. It is spacious, modern, secure and spotlessly clean. Ample car parking space is available. Owner is very pleasant and on hand if a problem arose. In all, a lovely, relaxing place for a break.

Only issues were Water pressure not great in some showers and water in sinks upstairs was hit and miss not a major issue so didnt mention to owner Electricity did cut out at one point but Andy was very responsive and came to fix it within 20 minutes.

We had a great stay, just spacious and comfy. Did have a small issue with the shower trap, but the owner was over within 5 mins and sorted it all out, brilliant service

Hi, It was a lovely cottage and I enjoyed the 4 days there very much. However weather did not help as it rained. The cottage and its surrounding was lovely, spacious and clean.My only issue was not having a hair dryer as most cottages provide hair dryers as part of the stay. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

Everything was good, however, we had a huge problem with the huge sound problems between the upstairs communal spaces and the bedrooms below. We had children and a baby in our group and it although we are a quiet group who were just walking normally around and playing board games, it was impossible to put the little ones to bed downstairs while people are still up as normal walking sounded like people crashing through the floor. As soon as the first person was up in the morning walking around upstairs everyone was awake because it is so insanely noisey. This really needs to be noted on the advert as is very difficult with children.

Our group of 8 adults and 5 children had an amazing weekend. The property was everything we could have hoped for with excellent facilities. Thank you so much. Wed love to return some time.

Superb property for a large family occasion with everything you could need

Absolutely brilliant stay for my 30th birthday weekend! We also booked out the Loft, and the Shavings for our dogowners. Perfect size for all the guests. Really sociable layout for cooking, eating, games and chats. Fantastic. Thanks Andrew and Lucy!

Wonderful facilities, so well equipped for preparing a large meal for a big group! The kids loved the snug area. Will definitely be back around Christmas time next year.

A great place for our family to share a Weekend, cook a Christmas dinner and enjoy the countryside. It took a while for the house to warm up, but then was cosy, and very festively dressed. Some of the carpet and soft furnishings were a little worn but all were clean, and the beds very comfortable. Plenty of hot water! We didnt need to trouble our hosts, everything we needed was there. We would strongly consider another stay here as a large group, or in smaller groups in the other properties, thank you.

Well equipped large property in a good area for walking and photography.

The place is a great setting and is warm and comfortable. The owners are friendly and welcoming and around to help out if needed. The house is well equipped and has plenty of space for the numbers it holds. The rooms are comfortable and have proper sized bath towels. We have had a really enjoyable time and are looking to return.

Great property, secluded location but not too far out of reach for nearby towns and attractions. The owners are super friendly and welcoming would highly recommend staying here.
