The Hay Barn Reviews

Lovely cottage, very peaceful location. Perfect for our short break. Will definitely be back and for longer next time.
Ideal stay for a family get together. 6 x adults, two young children under 2 and a big dog, we all had a fantastic time. Nice little touches, like a welcome basket of treats for us and the dog. Very clean, great au suite bathrooms in all rooms. The kitchen was fabulous, we probably used this room the most as it was so big and ideal for us all. Maybe more dishes, glasses etc would be the only criticism but that didnt spoil our stay. Thanks for a great weekend.
Matthew
Hay Barn was a lovely place to stay. It was spacious, clean, had everything we needed for a long weekend away. The bedrooms all had ensuites which was very nice. The kitchen was a lovely space really spacious, airy and bright. Would highly recommend Hay Barn.
A gorgeous holiday property. We stayed for a long weekend in December to celebrate Christmas early with family. Bedrooms are gorgeous, all ensuite. Hot tub is a huge bonus, so nice to relax in on a night. Only recommendation would be an extra armchair in the lounge so everyone can sit comfy rather than 3 adults on each sofa.
The accommodation was superb. The ensuite bedrooms were beautiful. The large modern kitchen with all facilties was wonderfully cosy. The underfloor heating was brilliant making the whole accommodation cosy & warm. The only slight issue I would like to mention is the lounge seating area. A large corner sofa or an extra sofa would have been more comfy as it is for six people & was a bit tight for everyone to chill out on. This said, we had a brilliant stay for a special birthday & we all had a great time. Thank you. We would book again & recommend to friends & family.
I stayed with friends at the Hay Barn over a long weekend and I wish we had stayed longer! The property is immaculately clean and comfortable. The facilities are very good and we made good use of both the hot tub and cosy wood burner. Very well done and hope to stay again soon.
Fantastic barn conversion. Well equipped with everything a familygroup would need. Only self catering i've stayed in that provided robes. Very quiet location so car required but perfect for us to get away from fireworks.
Wonderful place for a break and to switch off. Immaculately clean, everything we needed including a jigsaw which kept us all very busy! We will return.
The Hay barn was well decorated and very clean all the rooms apart from the ... The Hay barn was well decorated and very clean all the rooms apart from the small double were well presented However this room had no wardrobe the only storage were 2 small bedside cabinets and 2 hooks on the back of the door to our disappointment there was no shelving or storage unit in this bathroom so had to keep toileteries on the floor which wasn't ideal, The hot tub and private garden was a nice touch

We loved our stay at the Hay barn . Beautifully renovated barn with homely comforts . Hot tub lovely and garden for Poppy the rescued greyhound to enjoy. Couldnt fault it. Thankyou to the owners . We had 3 bedrooms all with ensuites so perfect for family or friends. Will be back. Thankyou too to the lovely lady who picked up my purse that Id dropped when I got out of the car and called at our barn to see if it was ours. Its worth staying longer and also the basket of treats to enjoy. Will be back.
The Hay Barn has been the perfect location to celebrate my 70th birthday together with our children and grandchildren. We have wonderful memories of a very special time. The Barn was a very comfortable and spacious home for a family gathering built and furnished to a very high standard.
Meticulously thought out property with loads of little extra touches that put it in a league of its own. One of the best properties in this price range we have stayed in. From a roll of poo bags and treats for the pooch to little luxuries for the humans, The Hay Barn had everything you could want. Clean, cosy, spacious and a perfect, secure garden. Had the best time and we will definitely be back.
We used the Hay Barn for our family to go to our sons wedding in Thirsk. It was a great venue with everything we needed. We even managed a hot tub dip pre wedding! The fixtures and fittings are excellent, a nice enclosed garden at the rear. There are no real negatives to this property. The road up to it is narrow and winding but it didnt bother us at all. 15 minutes into Thirsk! Thanks for our stay.
Matthew
Excellent, absolutely lovely property with all the things we required, nice added touches like dressing gowns provided, USB charging points, milk and welcome pack upon arrival, dog cage with bowl and treats, electric car charger and the enclosed garden all adding to a wonderful stay. Would recommend to anyone, and hope to return in the future. Thank you.
We had a great week at the Hay Barn, its a lovely place to stay, plenty of space for our family of 5. Nice quiet spot but not too far from amenities. The cottage had everything we could have needed while we were there, and a lovely little welcome basket when we arrived.
Philip
The Hay Barn is a fantastic place to stay. Extremely comfortable, well equipped. The hot tub is a fantastic luxury touch. We would love to stay again if we return to Yorkshire. Great location to have the quiet and stillness of the countryside but in close proximity to Thirsk and other areas to explore. The book to show how the barn was built is a fabulous addition to the information pack. Thank you so much.
Daniel
Excellent property in great location for exploring North Yorkshire. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Fantastic rear garden for the dog.
We absolutely loved staying in this cottage to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was perfect and we had some really special family time that I will never forget. The cottage was immaculate and the hot tub was fantastic.
Really relaxing and quiet area. Good facilities and the nice little touches like doggie biscuits for our pooch and coffee and tea bags for us on arrival. Would be very happy to book again if we return to explore the area further.
Thomas
It would have been nice to have comfy garden furniture. The picnic bench was used but it would have been nice to have something more comfortable.
Beautiful barn, very well equipped & extremely clean. Perfect location for sightseeing. The only downside is it would have been nice to have some storage in the double bedroom, there wasnt anywhere to put clothes therefore, we were living out of our suitcase for the week. Also, the patio doors in the lounge were dirty. However, a lovely place to stay & we will definitely recommend to our friends.
A beautiful property, we loved how the property started out from the farm buildings to now. A very well thought out layout to a top specification and the little extras. We cant fault anything about the accommodation. The only comment we would say for the lovely garden would be a parasol for the very hot days and a couple of chairs for a bit of back support We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family and of course return ourselves
Eileen
The only 'downside' for us in this beautiful property was that due to us being 'shorties' the furniture settees were so large, we couldn't sit on them comfortably. It would be nice to have 1 large1 smaller instead of both the same size. As walkers, we would have appreciated some leaflets re walks, whether immediately local or the Moors in particular. It is always nice to have recommends from local people for this sort of thing. An addition to the crockery we would suggest is some small dishes for 'nibbles'. Hope this is helpful. The property was extremely clean and it was nice to be amongst the first to stay in this newly constructed Hay Barn. Thank you.
Lorraine
I really enjoyed my stay. The barn was lovely, spacious, and very clean. It was also incredibly peacefulI would definitely come back again.
Superb property, well designed and detailed with everything you need to have a super holiday. Very clean with nice welcoming touches. Thank you
Fabulous cottage and would highly recommend. Extremely comfortable and welcoming and has everything that you could possibly need while you were away from home. We will definitely be returning.
Joanne
Exceptional in every way. we had a lovely stay in a lovely location highly recommended
We had a lovely time in your cottage. It's in a beautiful location. The cottage was clean and well designed. We loved the book of how the barn was converted. The one minor thing I would say is I've never been somewhere that didn't provide soap in the bathrooms. We don't think to bring any and it was an inconvenience. Also maybe a mop to wipe up the floors after using the hot tub. Apologise if there was one and we couldn't find it. But these were minor things. We would stay again and recommend the cottage to other people.
Sandra
Immaculate house, will definitely return and recommend to others, stayed at the house over new year with family. Large bedrooms, comfortable beds with pristine white sheets, beautiful ensuites. Extra large kitchen with everything you need, the lounge is very inviting and cosy with log burner. Hot tub was a hit. Location is great for visiting nearby towns and villages of Thirsk and Ripon. Cleanliness was second to none.
This was the most beautiful place we stayed over Christmas , with our 5 year old boy it was still extremely magical and even a week wasnt long enough we could have stayed longer .
Wonderful place to stay! The property is clean, spacious, and perfectly located for exploring nearby towns like Ripon, Thirsk, Harrogate, and York. Highly recommended!
We had a lovely stay at the Hay Barn, it has been beautifully refurbished. All the rooms were finished to a high standard, were comfortable and spotlessly clean. It is in a beautiful part of the country for nice walks and the hot tub is perfect for relaxing when you get back.
Tracey
Very beautifully presented accommodation. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We've been staying in holiday cottages for 20 years and this was easily the nicest place we've stayed in. The extras like dog bowl and blanket, dishwasher tabs, washing pods, milk, t bags etc. were very welcome. Everything has been thought of. The location is very quiet and rural, we loved it. Would not hesitate to recommend and hope to return in the future.
Jennifer
Hay Barn is an absolutely beautiful cottage with every comfort provided. It is fresh, clean and modern, very spacious and light. We are a family of four adults and really appreciated all having our own en suite. We brought our dog who was also well catered for. Nice enclosed garden to the rear with a wonderful hot tub which we loved relaxing in every evening. So many lovely touches that made our stay excellent. Lovely fluffy towelling robes and hooks on the fence next to the hot tub to make it more comfortable when we had to leave the hot tub. Lovely quiet location but lots of things to do in the area if you want to venture out. We mostly went to Hay Barn to relax and we really did, couldve stayed so much longer and would love to return.
A beautifully finished and well equipped holiday cottage, ideally situated to access North Yorkshire and all it has to offer. We had a lovely few days away and The Hay Barn was the perfect place to retreat to after a busy day exploring. The hot tub was the perfect temperature to soak our aching muscles. We couldnt have asked for more!
