Silvermine House Reviews

Phyllis
We have just returned from our third Christmas spent at Silvermine House, and once again it was absolutely wonderful. The house is warm, welcoming, and perfectly equipped for a family Christmas, with everything thoughtfully provided to make the stay comfortable and special. The views of the bay, along with the surrounding nature and wildlife, are truly breathtaking and make for a perfectly restful escape from city life. What really sets Silvermine House apart is the care and pride shown by the owners, Sonya and Paul. Its clear they are genuinely invested in creating a place where families can relax, connect, and make lasting memories. Their attention to detail and thoughtful touches ensure every stay feels personal and purposeful, rather than just another holiday let. Silvermine House has become a cherished part of our Christmas tradition. Thank you for maintaining such high standards and for welcoming us back year after year it truly feels like a home away from home. We very much hope to return again in the future.
Silvermine House was just perfect and even better than the pictures showed such fabulous views from every room and walks to the beach right from the door . Lots of beautiful places to visit. The whole house was immaculate and plenty of towels for the bathrooms with separate ones for the hot tub. I was away with my three grown up children and their husbands and 3 young grandchildren so having 4 bathrooms meant we could each have our own so no queuing in the mornings . The huge upstairs living space gave plenty of space for the children to play and the adults to relax and having a separate games room was great. The kitchen was huge with a fabulous family dining table that easily seated us all. Sonya and Paul were on hand if you needed anything and had left the most gorgeous scones and cream and a few other treats which was lovely. Would highly recommend Silvermine House.
Joanne
This was an outofthisworld stay from start to finish. We had a brilliant time and Sonya and Paul were the perfect hosts. From the view that literally took our breaths away from all the lovely touches homemade scones!, we felt very pampered and looked after. The house is amazing with great facilities the kitchen had everything you needed and more. Every room took in that brilliant view and was finished to a high standard. The location was great only 10 mins from St Austell and a 1015 min walk along the coast path to the beach at Porthpean. We will most definitely be back!
Michelle
If you are looking at the reviews to book, do not hesitate, you will not be disappointed. From the moment we arrived Sonya the host came to welcome us. Both Sonya & Paul are welcoming and are there when needed. The house is just amazing, with wonderful views. There were 7 adults & 6 children and something for all of us to do. A great base for visiting all places. Thank you both for a wonderful stay and making our stay perfect. We have all made some beautiful memories as a family and will cherish forever x
Deborah
We had an absolutely fabulous family holiday at Silvermine. The house was everything we could have wished for and more. It is spotlessly clean, fabulously well equiped, completed to a high and in a stunning location overlooking the bay. The owners, Sonya and Paul, were so welcoming and helpful but not at all intrusive. It was clear they wanted us to have a great time and come away with happy memories of our stay, and we certainly have done that. We hope to return again in the future. I would highly recommend Silvermine House to others.
Just a bit wary of the path to the house. There is one particular blind bend where the use of mirrors may be a good idea to see cars coming the other way. No incidents but I was always wary. This is a minor picky detail as it is perfect in every way and they are excellent hosts. Communication top notch. Being from the north I was wondering what the yellow circle was in the sky. It was the sun !!!!!!
Catherine
Silvermine was an absolutely beautiful house. Sonya and her husband were fantastic hosts. We were a bit worried as we are a group of friends sometimes hoists can be wary however Sonya welcomed us warmly and was so helpful throughout the duration of our visit. The house was immaculate and exactly how it was described on the add. It was so peaceful perfect holiday for families or a group of friends.
Maureen
Silvermine House is a very special place, the facilities are fantastic for a large family like ours with an age range of 9 months 78 years. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners Sonya and Paul with a superb Cornish cream tea and essential supplies of milk and wine. Any minor problem relating to maintenance was fixed immediately from one of the bathroom doors not locking properly to a wheel missing from the dishwasher. The views from the front of the house of the sea are amazing and one could sit for hours with a glass of wine enjoying the scenery. We were very lucky with the weather, so the outdoor dining facilities were well used. We as a family we would highly recommend Silvermine house to any large group for the wonderful facilities and position.
Both Sonya and Paul were most welcoming on arrival and kept in contact during our stay to ensure we were happy with everything and letting us know they were always there if we need anything. The house was lovely and met expectations and you can tell it is a passion for both Sonya and Paul to maintain to a high standard for their guests. We would have no hesitation recommending people to stay this property.
House is amazing with lovely views of the sea. Owners were really helpful and house inside was beautiful. We go away with family every year but Silvermine house is by far the best we have ever stayed.
Claire
Amazing place. Fantastic views, had everything we needed and more, and Sonya and Paul were fabulous hosts. Its so good, webe booked again for next year!
Phyllis
This was the second time we chose Silvermine for a base for our family Christmas break and, as before, it did not disappoint. Thank you so much to Paul and Sonya who are very kind, generous and welcoming hosts. Silvermine is spacious, super comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated, very well resourced and maintained. We did not use the hot tub, but the younger members of our group enjoyed the gym and games room. The tranquil and beautiful view of the bay, the sound of birdsong made for a perfect respite from the busyness of the city. We had a wonderful time, made great memories and are looking forward to our return next Christmas.
From the moment we arrived at Silvbermine House, Sonya and Paul made us feel incredibly welcome. the house was ready for us, complete with homemade fresh scones, jam and clotted cream jam first people!. the house is immaculate, and incredibly well appointed. the beds are all comfortable, the bathrooms excellent, and the lounge area upstairs swallowed up all 9 of our party with ease. The hot tub got used every evening, and it was a wonderful way to relax after a long days holidaying in the local area. Everything we needed was ready and waiting in well organised drawers and cupboards, right down to a bottle of cooking oil which we always forget. Sonya and Paul were always available if needed, but if not needed, you didn't even notice they were on site, apart from a cheery wave in the morning as they left for work. We really couldn't ask for more from a relaxing holiday, even the weather was pretty much perfect for the end of November! Thanks again guys, we will hopefully be back at some point in the future.
Beautiful property in a stunning location. The owners were so helpful and had thought of everything we could need. The facilities were excellent with so much to do, the only negative we had was the ovenhob didnt heat up as easily as we would have liked while cooking for large numbers.
Robert
Sonya & Paul were lovely hosts, very welcoming and happy to help! The house was amazing with incredible views of the bay! Would highly recommend!
Michael
Great location, wonderful views and a chance to relax in a quality holiday home. Location on Coastal path ideal for walkers or early morning runs. Access to St Austell easy and Chatlestown a short drive or even walk away. Good position for Eden Project, Weald Martyn China Clay experience. A number of National trust places within a 40 minute dtive. Accomodation very spacious. Well furnished and a range of Games, tv's gym and hot tub keeps everyone happy.
Philip
Excellent property, well appointed, modern and very clean. Great views. Owners extremely helpful. Plenty of space for our 11 strong party. Handily positioned for nearby attractions.
Silvermine house is simply beautiful! The hosts Sonya and Paul amazing! Attentive but not intrusive! I can honestly say that this house is one of the best self catering holiday homes we have stayed in, we were a family of 11 and had plenty of room, the property was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and very well equipped! Its in an idyllic location, very secluded but a 5 minute drive from everything you think you might need! A memory bank holiday for us all, thank you Sonya and Paul for making Silvermine the holiday home of dreams.
Vanessa
We absolutely loved our stay at Silvermine. From the moment we arrived, we fell in love with it. From the welcoming homemade scones with clotted cream, the comfortable bedrooms, the huge sitting area upstairs, the incredibly well equipped kitchen, the perfect outdoor eating space, the hot tub, the stunning views, and more, we could not have asked for a more beautiful and comfortable spot. Its wonderfully secluded and quiet yet close to anything you need. We loved that the coastal path runs below the field and you can literally walk out the door, through the field to the beach on the left or Blackhead to the right. Sonya and Paul could not have been more kind or gracious. It was truly a magical, wonderfully relaxing and memorable stay. I cant wait to go back!
Wallace
Silvermine House is amazing! It was perfect for our family group of 5 adults and 3 teenage boys. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, and multiple spaces, indoors and out, to gather to relax or enjoy games. The views from the house are stunning! The house itself seems isolated but is only 5 or 10 minutes from restaurants and shopping. Sonya and Paul are wonderful hosts, who provided everything we needed. It's a long way from the US to Cornwall, but Silvermine House was worth every mile of it.
Joanne
Absolutely beautiful property. Sea views from all front windows and just a10 min walk to porthpean beach although a steep walk back up hottub is lovely, such a peaceful area and hosts sonya & Paul are very welcoming and helpful, area has some outstanding scenic walks for those who like a challenge. Would highly recommend
Gillian
What a wonderful house! Stunning position, beautifully and comfortably furnished, and absolutely spotless. The care and thought given by Sonya and Paul is superb. From the welcoming gifts, to the thoughtful extras, this house exceeded our expectations and is far and away the best we have ever stayed in over the many years of our holiday family gatherings. We can't recommend it enough, and hope to return ourselves, holidays allowing.
Rebecca
A stunning house. The hosts were amazing and made sure our stay was just perfect. The house was so clean and well looked after and had everything you needed. Beautiful furnishings and plenty of space for 11 of us ! Would definitely recommend and go back for another stay.
Phyllis
As usual the booking process with Sykes was simple and straightforward. Updates and correspondence was informative, helpful and timely. As our holiday drew nearer we received a warm introduction email from Sonya and Paul. Straightaway they made us feel really special, and that nothing was too much trouble. They provided very detailed answers to the questions I had about the property and where it was appropriate they provided photograph evidence. Information about local attractions was also really helpful. On arrival at Silvermine we were blown away by the presentation of the property. The photos are lovely but do not do justice. Wow! Silvermine truly is wonderful! Not only that, the welcome we received was outstanding. Meeting Sonya and Paul was like catching up with old friends they were so warm and friendly. Achieving comfort, wellbeing and the best possible experience for their guests is clearly their priority. The lights were on, beautiful Christmas tree and decorations, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam. The kitchen is very well resourced with quality tableware, cookware and utensils. There was tea, coffee and fresh milk available. The provision of toilet rolls, hand soap and shower gel bin liners and cleaning products including dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and cleaning spray sufficient for the duration of our stay was very much appreciated. Silvermine is comfortable, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Have to mention the gorgeous views from the front of the house! Stunning!! The website description is accurate. We enjoyed our stay at Silvermine so much I booked to return next Christmas before we left! Congratulations to Sonya and Paul for their first class service and excellent facilitation. We are looking forward to returning. Thank you.
HOSTS Sonya and Paul were responsive, professional, friendly and very helpful. They want you to have a wonderful time while you are staying at Silvermine. They are on hand if you need any help. But never intrusive. Paul and Sonya could teach other hosts how to run a holiday home to such high levels of customer satisfaction PROPERTY lots of space for our large group. Plenty of bathrooms , one of bathrooms had a bath.Thoughtfully decorated, comfortable beds, good quality towels and bed linen. Good quality pots and pans and sharp kitchen knives which is unusual in a holiday let. Cosy blankets for wrapping up on the sofa. Wood burner, fuel provided. Very clean. Outside area has a massive garden with the most majestic views whatever the weather. LOCATION for our 3 generation family it was perfect. We enjoy hiking, house on the SW coastal path a real plus, beach for little ones in walking distance and plenty of pubs and high end restaurants nearby. Handy location for nearby places to visit, Eden Project, Heligan, Lanhydrock and many more. AMENITIES hot tub was a perfect treat , good quality and plentiful fluffy towels provided. Our adult children and their partners enjoyed using the gym. We were able to store bikes in the gym, which is a real plus if you want to cycle. A huge smart TV for cosy nights in watching a film. OVERALL Silvermine really is a very special place, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend. We hope that we will be able to return again with our growing family. We will have many happy memories. Thank you Sonya and Paul. Our only negative comment was the garden chairs and loungers, which were lovely, but couldn't be used because the cushions were soaking, we would have liked to sit outside for lunch in the beautiful garden with its magnificent views. Just a thought maybe the cushions could be stored in the games room..
Silvermine was a beautiful home and had everything to keep us entertained during our stay. From the generous treats left for us upon arrival to the toiletries in the bathrooms the host had thought of everything. The beds were extremely comfortable and the whole house was plush and functional. Silvermine was a fantastic location to base ourselves at to allow us to explore Cornwall.
Cormac

Angela
On arrival to this beautiful house we were met by the host Sonya who was very welcoming and friendly. On entering the house it was spotlessly clean. A very lovely touch of homemade scones with jam and clotted cream awaited us and 2 lovely bottles of wine. Bedrooms were fantastic for all the family. Me and my husband stayed in the room with ensuite passed the utility away from the main bedrooms, very quiet and peaceful. Upstairs lounge with amazing views was stunning, with games and books for all ages. The games room which is separate from the house had a pool table, Sega console, kids and adults loved it and also the juke box were you could listen to your own cds, vinyls or music from your phone was fab. Met Paul who came to sort out a problem we had noticed with the Sega and again was very friendly. The hot tub which was used at night when all the children were asleep was lovely and warm. In all you can't fault this beautiful home, great location for getting out and about, asda 5 mins away, with everything you would need for an amazing holiday with family or friends. Definitely 5. Thank you Sonya and Paul. X
