Howle Hideaway Reviews

After finding the property Suggest using claw. Perfect.bachelor to find it, we found it to be in a nice quiet location. Spacious downstairs with the amenities you would expect. The spiral staircase was a snug fit going up and down, the bedroom ample enough with adequate storage. The downstairs bathroom was designed and finished nicely. However the shower height was restricting if over 6ft. In all a very nice and comfortable weekend stay.
Christopher
Wonderful hosts ,kind welcome pack much appreciated ,hope come back again some day.
Michael Paul
Lovely cottage and quiet location albeit only a short drive to Ross on Wye. The owner Paul was friendly and helpful re places to visit and we sat outside many late afternoonsevening's enjoying the garden views and peaceful surroundings. We would recommend and intend to return in the near future.
Beautiful setting, cottage very well equipped and supplied with all the basic things like soap, toilets rolls and towels. In the kitchen, clothes, dish tabs, kitchen roll, salt n pepper etc. The cottage was lovely and warm, much appreciated. The wine and snacks a nice touch too. Outside is gorgeous with Llamas and sheep in the field. Nice table and chairs with cushions for dining outside. The stairs were a challenge for me and the bed could be softer but that's all. Thank you a very good home from home.
Andrew
Its my forth visit here twice at Valley View and twice at Howle Hideaway. Great views and location. Will definitely return.
Very nice property in super surroundings, really enjoyed our stay. Good eating places close by serving good food.
Christine
Lovely peaceful location. We were blessed with the weather, so made the most of sitting outside of the cottage. Owners friendly without being intrusive. Cottage was comfortable and equipped with all implements. WiFi was intermittent but we did get online everyday.
Andrew
Howle Hideaway is a brilliant place to stay. Very peaceful with beautiful views over the Wye valley. This was my second visit to this location the first was the adjoining Valley View which was just as good. Will definitely return in the future. Ross on Wye is one of my favourite towns in the country with beautiful river walks.
Philip
Had a great stay, nice and peaceful, Paul and Edwina very pleasant, allowed us to feed the Alpacas, weather could have been better, but that's out of everyone's hands. Would stay again if we came back to same area.
Lyndsay
Lovely spacious and clean cottage with very welcoming hosts. The patio area overlooking the garden and fields was great to sit in and enjoy the views and peacefulness of the area and seeing the alpacas was a bonus. Would definitely visit again.
The owners of the property were very helpful without being intrusive.
Anthony
Warm welcome from the owners & their 2 lovely dogs! Lovely, well equipped barn conversion holiday cottage, in quiet country side setting, with beautiful views. Delightful open patio area perfect for doing a bit of art work! Enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.
Bridget
Lovely place to stay. Great to look out on the sheep and alpacas every day. Owners were on hand and very helpful. Good location for exploring surrounding area. Would be happy to return in the future, especially in warmer months.
Jennifer
Lovely cottage in quiet countryside. We had a great week thank you. J and L
Had a fantastic week at Howle Hideaway ,would highly recommend this accommodation, peaceful beautiful location close to many walks and places of interest. Apprecaited being able to freely roam the owners grounds and meet their dogs, and many thanks to Edwina for the maps and advice! Definitely will rebook Debby and Martin
The owners were helpful and promptly sorted out any issues. The cottage was well equipped despite many items being removed due to covid restrictions. The directions to the cottage were minimal but more helpful information was available from the owners what three words. A car is needed to get the most from the area as the property is near the top of a hill but the Wye Valley has many activities to enjoy nearby.
Kenneth
Lovely place in the middle of nowhere with all facilities required and close to plenty of walks which is what we wanted
Jacqueline
The sofas were very saggy and gave us a backache and it didn't help that the cushions had all been removed! The spiral staircase is very difficult to use as the toilet is downstairs and you can't get up them with a suitcase! The people were lovely but I wouldn't stay there again I'm afraid.
Heather
The cottage was exceptional. Beautifully appointed spotless and very comfortable. The owners had thought of everything and were very welcoming on arrival and helpful throughout our stay when we needed anything but always respecting our privacy We particularly liked the private patio and our own garden where the wonderful surroundings and bird song could be fully appreciated. The spiral staircase to the bedroom took some getting used to but was no problem We will certainly return a truly magical place. Heather and Roger Wing
An excellent holiday cottage and absolutely spotless, thank you. Lovely patio and surroundings. Owners very welcoming and helpful. Just found the spiral staircase, although we had no mobility issues rather difficult at times. Perhaps would have liked additional place mats to protect the dining table. Realise that this had to be reduced owing to COVID, two additional would have been useful. An absolutely wonderful holiday and will aim to return next year.
Absolutely gem of a place if you want peace and quiet with nothing around you. Hosts very accommodating nothing was too much trouble. You do need a car to get around but ideal base to explore
After a long time in lockdown we were really looking forward to a cottage break away for 7 days. We can honestly say this fabulous cottage did not disappoint and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole of our stay. On arrival, we were met by the owner who made us feel very welcome. He left us some fresh eggs, crisps, drinks and even a couple of decorated mugs of the cottage and the wye valley for us to take home after our stay. Nice touch thank you! The cottage is beautiful, well equipped and has a gorgeous patio area and garden at the back to relax after long days out walking. Can recommend Symonds Yat for walks with a magnificent viewpoint.
Lovely little cottage. We enjoyed our stay
Bridget
Howle Hideaway is a lovely, comfortable, clean cottage. It is located in beautiful countryside with lots of woodland walks nearby. The owners are friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Lovely spot for a restful week but with plenty of walking and the river nearby for canoing . Cottage was spotless and very comfortable with a lovely garden with morning and lunch time sun and dappled shade in the afternoon which was much needed in the heat wave . A decent pub nearby in Goodrich only five minute drive away but you do need to drive down the hill to get any where . However for walkers the cottage is very near plenty of footpaths to explore the local area . Thank you to the owners who were very helpful and friendly and we loved the addition of the alpacas and Mony and Hector the dogs who greeted us each day in the garden . Yes the spiral staircase is an issue if you are older and a bit frail as the bathroom is down stairs so night time loo jaunts are fun but fine if you have no mobility issues. However the cottage is beautifully presented ,was immaculate and to have our own little garden to sit in and chill out was just perfect . Thank you so much for a lovely stay .
Excellent location. Welcome pack was a nice touch. Thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
Roselind
The cottage is located in a quiet location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The accommodation was of a high standard with open plan living area and kitchen, ground floor shower room, first floor bedroom accessed by a wooden spiral staircase and a lovely paved south facing patio overlooking fields and woodland. On arriving we received a warm welcome by the owners and we were delighted with all the little extras that the accommodation had to offer. Access to the alpaca and sheep on the farm was a delight and getting up close and personal a special touch and we would definitely return here again for a short break.
Sandra
Holiday enhanced by extremely good weather and beautiful area.
Rodney
Excellent situation very quiet close to footpaths and easy access to many attractions.
An excellent cottage, beautifuly furnished and fitted out with easy parking right outside. The location is very private and peaceful, being at the end of a private farm lane accessed through a gate. The owners made us very welcome. The ground floor accommodation is generous for a one bedroom unit with lovely patio and access to the surrounding paddocks, where alpacas and sheep may be grazing. The spacious and well furnished bedroom is accessed via a spiral staircase, which could be challenging for anyone with limited mobility. An excellent base for exploring the area, or simply to chill out. Your own transport is essential given the very rural location.
Christine
Fabulous cottage in beautiful surroundings . We were made to feel very welcome by Paul with lots of info about the property and the local area. The cottage itself was perfect for us with everything we needed and was beautifully decorated throughout, it was a pleasure to come back to the peacefulness after days out in the area .Definately a well deserved 5rating. The cottage itself is situated in a perfect position for exploring many beautiful towns and villages and also the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons and the Forest of Dean.We would definately return.
Absolutely fantastic holiday accomodation. Fantastic base to explore the area. Hosts are a lovely couple who have thought of everything so you have a memorable holiday.
Imogen
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was lovely and very peaceful, hosts were great and we had everything we needed. The location and views were beautiful. Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas, plenty of hill walks and RossonWye not too far by car.
The cottage was excellent. Everything we needed, modern, good quality furnishings throughout. It was lovely to be surrounded by the countryside and we were not far from Symonds Yat and The Forest of Dean, as we'd hoped.
Yvonne
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, host was very obliging. Big thank you.
Spiral staircase to bedroom would be a problem for the less mobile,
