We had a fantastic stay at the Curlew Barn! The location was incredibly peaceful, perfect for a quiet getaway with beautiful countryside views. The cottage was immaculately clean, comfortable, and came with everything we needed for our family holiday. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the friendly owner, who was always available to help and suggest any places to visit especially the hikes. . We would highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax and recharge.
Great week at Curlew Barns with my family and dog, great location for Buxton, Bakewell, Manifold trail, Thors Cave, Tittesworth Reservoir My wife loved Spring the horse and Ted enjoyed stretching his legs on the enclosed field directly next to the property, hot tub was great, beware the low doorways as some are low and I'm not exactly tall, plenty of parking onsite, a little road noise but nothing major. Henry and Marianne were lovely, very knowledgeable and always around if needed but left us to our own devices lovely places to eat locally too, a very enjoyable week had by all
Jessica
Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Henry was the perfect host and no request was too much trouble. The barn is well equipped, very spacious and comfortable. The location makes it the perfect spot to explore the various walks and nearby towns. Hot tub is a lovely extra too! Well be visiting again next year!
Very friendly welcome , plenty of parking , was perfect for three of us to meet up and would comfortably have accommodated the maximum 6, headroom for tall people a bit limited in places. Two shower rooms much appreciated. The local pub and curry house excellent and hot tub superb ! In beautiful countryside and quiet apart from some background traffic noise during the day. Close to Chatsworth which was well worth a visit.

Stayed 6 nights in Curlew Barn and had a great time. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Great location for Alton Towers and the peak district. The barn has all the conveniences you need with the added bonus of a hot tub which is perfect to relax in at the end of the day. Note there is no WIFI but the 4G coverage is great so no issue for us. Plenty of secure parking and a great Indian restaurant 100 metres down the road. The barn conversion is good but there are a couple of low doorways in places. We had two at 6'1 and 6'3 in our group and we managed fine with a bit of care. Lounge area very comfortable. No complaints. Would be happy to return in the future.
Booked along with the main barn for a hen weekend. Fantastic welcome from Henry. Well equipped cottage with comfortable beds and amazing views. We had a fantastic weekend.
Gorgeous place to stay, lovely places locally The barn itself was very impressive and we will definitely be back with the family! Such friendly owners
We had a super week at Curlew Barn. The property is very comfortable and well equipped. Friendly and helpful owners there to welcome us. They provided very useful information on the local area. We loved the hot tub beautiful view from the garden. Lots to do nearby. We did lots of walking at the nearby manifold way, near Barlestone, and at the Tittesworth reservoir. We also visited some great places within an easy drive, namely Shugborough Hall, Kedleston hall, Trentham Gardens and Chatsworth. Handy supermarket a few miles away in Leek and M&S food just a few minutes away in Ashbourne. The Bangladeshi restaurant within walking distance receives great, welldeserved, reviews we are there twice! Will definitely return. This is a very underrated area with beautiful walking and plenty to entertain visitors.

Lovely cottage for a weekend away. Short drive to lots of lovely walks and towns. The hot tub was a great place to sit and relax in the evenings! Would thoroughly recommend staying here!
Charles

Catherine
Spent the most amazing few days at this lovely place, owner of the property is so lovely and friendly and very welcoming. Perfect little spot for some well needed R&R. Thank you we will definitely be booking again for next year

Nicola
Lovely barn with all amenities, owners very accommodating
Lovely stay at Curlew Barn. The owners were very polite and friendly and would definitely stay again
Everything was great. . just the hot tub is abit much for it will only work 2030 minutes at a time. Over all 810
6 of us, 2 adults, 2 children, and 2 oldies had a most enjoyable stay. The accomodation was compact but comprehensive, and very handily placed for visiting the excellent facilities of the region. The host was always available and could not have been more responsive and helpful. The oldies coped well with the limited headroom in the bedroom but it may be unsuitable for anyone with a mobility problem. Putting a chair in the bedroom was very useful. We would certainly do it again.
Natalie
We had a fabulous break and the owner of this property was so welcoming and helpful during and before our stay. We felt so at home here , the property is smashing we loved it and hope to visit again soon
Sophie
Lovely place! Situated in a beautiful location and is nice and quiet but with the option to head into the local villages and Leek within 10minutes!
Corinna
Lovely barn conversion in the middle of the countryside. Open plan bedrooms so noise from kitchenliving room could be an issue. Couldn't fault the owner who lives close and keeps the barn conversions in great condition. Perfect location for exploring the countryside and getting into LeekAlton Towers by car. Hot tub great hit! Pub opposite has closed down and nearest pub is a couple of miles away. Overall lovely stay and very happy with accommodation.
Lovely place to stay.
We enjoyed our time at Curlew Barn, it was a very nicely done conversion, with the added luxury of a hot tub, and being within walking distance of a good Indian restaurant. It felt a bit a squeeze for 6 adults, would have been more comfortable for 4. We were frustrated on our last morning as our host was not around, and left no means of contacting them other than a house phone number, which meant we left without a chance to reclaim our 50 Good Housekeeping deposit.
Rebecca
The owners were friendly and very informative about the area, the house was perfect for our holiday. Would recommend.
Eleanor
We a family of two adults and three children had a lovely long weekend at Curlew Barn. The barn is comfortable, cosy and has everything we needed. Henry, the owner, was a fantastic host from being greeted with a bottle of wine when we arrived quite late on Friday to digging out a football for the kids to play in the field first thing Saturday he was helpful and friendly and thoughtful. The only suggestion would be to more clearly describe the bedroom set up in the description on the website but to be honest Henry clarified all that with one phone call. The area is lovely of course. We recommend The Merchants House in Longnor for a meal but Curlew Barn is a lovely peaceful base to enjoy a relaxed evening and very pretty surroundings.
Richard
A beautiful cottage with lovely features, it's really well stocked I'm terms of kitchen equipment there was everything you needed and more. Beautiful views and lovely hot tub. Very relaxing break away. The owner Henry was lovely too and took the time to show us how things worked in the cottage and about the local area.
