Churn House Reviews

A great find! A fantastic place to stay with the family idyllic location yet close enough to lots of activities to keep everyone happy. The heated pool and games room entertained us for hours. Vicky and her family were perfect hosts very welcoming and always on hand to answer any queries we had.
This is our 9th year of staying at Churn House and the neighbouring Manor Farm Barn for our annual craft weekend, and the 15 of us had a wonderful time. The owner was quick to address the minor issues we had we needed more chairs in the games room, and a couple of the rooms were lacking coat hangers. Despite the wet weather we managed some short walks in the village and enjoyed a couple of meals at the local pub.
Churn House which is part of Manor Farm was warm and comfortable, lovely comfy beds and lounge. The kitchen was supplied with all the appliances and utensils that we required for a family of seven, we all enjoyed the games room. Our aim was to relax and this is exactly what we were able to do. The village was pretty and we had some nice walks and a nice welcome at the local pub where we enjoyed great food, drink and company
We had a great stay at Churn House. Lovely cottage with space for all but a cosy feel as well. Games room is a wonderful addition with lots of options and a full size snooker table. Lovely to see the farmyard animals.
Rachael

We've stayed in lots of rental cottages, and this one get high marks. Spacious, characterful, quiet, private. We enjoyed the games room with fullsized snooker table, pool and table tennis. Plus the heated pool. There are many interesting places to visit with an hour's drive.

This cottage gave every thing we needed. We loved the how the bedrooms were great layout and the beds were the best we have compared with the other cottages we have too. The owner was on site and it was a pleasure meeting her. My husband used the swimming pool and he loved it the pool was warmer than outside . We loved it that we have booked it for the 2026 . Absolutely loved our stay here, lovely welcome from Vicky upon arrival, House has loads of rustic charm , really well laid out so everyone was not in each others pockets, fields behind churn house were within a 2 minute walk, so great for walking the dogs. Pub also a 2 minute walk along the quiet road, had a meal here, and food was great sold Thatchers cider, so a bonus nice little beer garden and dogs very welcome. Games room at Churn house was great too a good choice pool, snooker, air hockey, table tennis etc .Pool area clean and tidy was warm when we got in, beds very comfortable even hairdryers in each room, facilities in kitchen were great, as we needed for nothing in the way of pots pans utensils etc. even an air fryer, gated area outside for dog and lovely seated area ,was lovely to walk around farm and see the animals. The accommodation was perfect for us as a family of 8. First time weve been able to sit and enjoy meals together when on holiday! It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The added touch of fresh flowers, biscuits and chocolates when we arrived gave a very warm welcome! The pool and games room were shared with our neighbours but accessed by all on a daily basis. Very happy holiday had by all!!!

Playback even better than expected and swimming pool wonderful and also heated a great place to holiday whatever your age, also a good base for touring the area. Peace and quiet, with chickens, donkeys and goat on site, very friendly. Owners friendly and available .but not intrusive.

Unbelievable place to stay. Lovely character about the place, games room is incredible. Will try and return in summer to use the pool!
Annette
A brilliant holiday facility and location. The warm pool was enjoyed by the 3 generations, particularly lucky to have a dry mostly sunny week. Delighted to have a large utility room to dry towels and have extra storage. I was concerned the kitchen might be dark but with 2 skylights it was a lovely light room. The children particularly enjoyed watching tractors, horses and the children waiting for the school bus from the kitchen window! We loved the free roaming chickens in the car parking area and stroking the friendly donkeys and horse. We were delighted to find a full size snooker table which our 12 year old loved. The air hockey was also an unexpected bonus. Communication with Vicky was excellent.
What a lovely place to stay. Accommodation had everything we wanted. The pool and the games room were a big hit too. Superb tranquil location too. We had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend.
We had the most wonderful week. Plenty to do on wet days with the games room. Pool was used every single day as was a beautiful temperature, great way to start the day. A few very minor issues but were sorted speedily and without question. Lovely place to stay and will definitely recommend. Thank you.
Angela
Wonderful cottage in a stunning location. We had everything we needed for a family holiday.Lots to see and do locally and our host was helpful and welcoming Having a heated pool was amazing three generations enjoyed that!Would highly recommend Churn House the best holiday cottage we have stayed in.
Really nice place to stay. Less than half hour to all the attractions. Swimming pool and games room we're great. Good value for money and great communication with the owner. Recommended. The only downside was that the place is looking a little tired and in need of a makeover soon. However we had a great time. Thanks
Yvonne
Nice cottage set in the countryside. Local pub. Half hour drive to Weymouth Beach. The plus side having a heated pool and games room. Our granddaughter really enjoyed the pool. Comfy beds and all modern facilities. We were lucky with the weather. The only downside was the furniture in the lounge sofa and chairs could do with an upgrade. Some of us found it difficult to get up from them as seats worn and low down.
Richard
Thouroughly enjoy this place
Alison

Had a very enjoyable five days with friends heated pool a lovely bonus the cottage was lovely and very well equipped the only thing I would say is the carpets need a deep clean and the sofa in the living room either needs replacing or again a deep clean but overall a lovely place to stay and relax the pub is literally in eyeshot of the cottage and the food was amazing
Joanna
Churn House suited us perfectly and we were very relaxed and comfortable. Ideal centre for us and our friends and dogs to be walking The Jubilee Trail through beautiful, very rural countryside. In a totally perfect world it would've been nice to have had a cafetiere for our coffee.
Anthony

We stayed at the property over Christmas. Lovely Christmas tree to welcome us, everything we needed in the property. Great games room. Do not think pictures do it justice. Would highly recommend it & also fantastic local pub a couple of minutes down the lane.
Sheridan
Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Pool and games room exceeded expectations. Local pub very close and served good food.
We had the best week at Churn House. It was so well equipped, it had everything we needed and more. Location was beautiful, the pool was heated to a lovely temp and kept the kids entertained all week, it was clean and had a lovely shallow end for smaller children. Our first time in Dorset and location wise it was perfectly situated to get to all the main attractions. Thank you for being wonderful hosts!
Christine
Lovely property. Excellent swimming pool. Attentive and professional hosts. Mrs Booth came round immediately to fix a problem with the pool temperature. Great pub in the village, and a couple of nice walks from the house,. Dogs and children thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Only small negative is the access roads to the village are all very narrow, so a lot of patience and courtesy were needed to negotiate trips out. On the whole, the best cottage we've ever had as a big family group.
Thomas
Great property and facilities. Set in a beautiful village with a fab local pub. We loved the games room, pool, very fresh and delicious eggs thanks ladies!
Fantastic property and stay, definitely recommend for both families or groups of friends. I will be returning!
Loved the location. Really close to a local pub Oak of Delwish, which is a family run pub so friendly and dog friendly. Anything we needed form the accommodation was dealt with very quickly. I would definitely return. We were sad to leave and would consider coming for longer next time
Churn house is very homely and clean. Vicky was very helpful with any questions. We met the beautiful donkeys which made our little 1 year old very happy. The games room was absolutely brilliant fun. we did not expect a full size snooker table. Definitely will be on our list for a return visit.
Cheryl
Having coincided our stay with the coldest weather for quite a few years I was concerned about whether the cottage would be cold. After contact with the owner Vicky I was assured it would be lovely and warm, and indeed it was. Every contact I had with Vicky was very promptly responded to and extremely helpful. Dewlish is a lovely peaceful area and well placed for access to the coast and countryside. Churn House is part of a working farm and all around is farming area so there are a lot of tractors moving around especially the treat of seeing the Christmas decorated, lit up and horn sounding tractor parade coming past the kitchen window. My bed was very comfortable and with all bedrooms facing the mini garden and shared pool one didn't get disturbed by any traffic driving past.Being a family of tall people we did find the shower cubicles rather tiny but bathrooms were impeccably clean. We had an issue with the dishwasher not working and Vicky was amazing in trying it herself and then getting it replaced immediately by a spare one they had and so apologetic. The only place a dishwasher is moved about by JCB I'm sure which tickled us. There was another problem with the microwave which couldn't be sorted out and more sincere apologies we could cope without so it didn't matter. We all loved Churn House and the area and the Booth family. The pub The Oak at Dewlish is a must ony 150 yards from the property, very friendly and very good pub food. Thank you Vicky, Josh and family.
Hi, We had a lovely family week, with everything we needed provided. The facilities were what were stated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great rural location, to get away from it all and focus on relaxing and easy access to the rest of Dorset too! Thanks to Vicky for being a great host and even showing us the amazing Dairy Farm.. an unforgettable experience! The Jones Family
Jennie
We really enjoyed our holiday to Churn House. The house itself was lovely and plenty big enough for us all 8adults, 2 babies & 2 Dogs. We loved the games room and the heated pool and as we visited in October it was a nice surprise that the pool was still warm enough to use. We were there for the last week the pool is heatedused and we noticed the pool cleaner still visited. There were a few animals which we enjoyed visiting in a morning with our little one who absolutely loved the Donkeys. The ownersstaff that we met were all very friendly and happy to help. There were a couple of boxes of biscuits waiting for us when we arrived with some tea, coffee and milk which went down perfect while we waited for our food shop to arrive. The WiFi worked perfectly. The location of the house was also brilliant. It is located in a quiet village so it was very peaceful but it was only a 50minute drive to Bournemouth and about 40 minutes to Weymouth. The local convenience store was a 10minute drive away and the local town was about 20minutes away so we had plenty to do. We would definitely recommend visiting. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
Lovely spacious comfortable cottage very quiet in the middle of beautiful countryside half an hour drive from most tourist areas. Great for a baby and a dog fully equipped with the added bonus of a heated swimming pool which we used during the first week of October!! Would definitely come again
