Carvin-tor Reviews

Natalie
Lovely quirky cottage, comfortable beds, great hot tub. Had everything we needed for our weeks stay. My only suggestion would be an extra cupboard in the kitchen for food, we had to put everything on the windowsill and maybe a full length mirror near a socket. Had to use my hairdryer in the living room but other than those small things we really enjoyed our stay and the owners were lovely too
Lesley
Once upon a time the outside stairs this is a lovely property with everything all on one level. Peaceful rural location with fabulous views from the hot tub!
Brillant stay here. Perfect layout for small children. Hot tub is close so you can listen out for them at night. Our teenagers had theyre own rooms which they loved. Cozy farmhouse feel. Will definitely return
Stephanie
Lovely stay for weekend, exactly what was described. Very clean. Hot tub warm on arrival. Would recommend.
You don't need to take anything to this property apart from toiletries and food, everything else is there, towels, fully stocked kitchen, bedding. Me and my husband on a romantic weekend, had an amazing time, very secluded, definitely would recommend. Only thing we found difficult was finding the entrance, as it's just after a bend on a winding road, the name is on a large stone in the grass.
Victoria
Kitchen wasn't clean, where the plate and glasses were kept, nothing organised in the cupboards pans were just thrown in , we has to try and match pans to the lids. looked very unfinished. Was expecting a welcome pack. Mattresses on bed need looking at. Lots of bits floating in hot tub. It stated to put breakfast things in the dish washer, but there was no dish washer. Loved the automatic lights for hallway and bathroom. Just needs a good licknof paint and some holes filling in. Then it would be beautiful. It has huge potential.
Cannot fault this place at all! Accomodation was excellent, the owner was so friendly and everything met expectations and beyond. Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again!
Great place, had a great stay its a good place for traveling to different places. Some lovely places near by to visit.
Elaine
Really lovely setting for a peaceful and tranquil holiday. Very clean and well maintained every home comfort. Owner was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions on local day trips and amenities. Eould not hesitate to recommend.
This was such a relaxing and comfortable place to stay, with lovely views too, thank you! A really great base for exploring the area and visiting family, then being able to relax in the hot tub in the evening was wonderful. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and TVs in the bedrooms was an added luxury. Our only comment would be check the location carefully with the owner who is really lovely in advance, especially if you are arriving in the dark because the Carvin Tor sign is not well lit the directions on the Sykes website weren't great and satnav will take you to a different property.
Enjoyed a weekend break here lovely property very clean , loved the hot tub will definitely be back.
Rebecca
Wonderful property in a wonderful location, everything you could need is at hand and the owners were very helpful!
Great place to stay, great communication. Everything needed included in the stay, only issue was the psychopathic kitchen tap! Is not a major issue just had to have a clean up when the kids attempted to use it, no issues at all would 100 stay again
Lovely clean property with comfortable beds. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Peaceful location.
Vanessa
We had a lovely weeks stay, hot tub was fab and cottage a great base to explore Yorkshire countrysideseaside. Definitely recommend stay
Andrew
We had a lovely stay, everything was catered for. The kitchen had all you needed, the bedding was lovely and clean and the beds were comfortable, the house was clean throughout and the rooms were all spacious...mind your head on the beams though. We had a little trouble with the keysafe not sure if it was us or a bit dated. The views were lovely, although on the main road to Northallerton not much traffic seemed to pass so really peaceful too. The hot tub was great...a little step may be helpful for some people. My son was made up getting some fresh eggs. All in all a lovely place to stay and really good value for money.
The hot tub jets are broken and it doesnt heat up properly
This is a lovely place, out in sticks. The view from the hot tub is astonishing and the accommodation just right. Such friendly owners who were on hand but not intrusive, be prepared to drive out for amenities such as shops and pubsrestaurants but that was one of the reasons we loved it. Very comfortable.
What a lovely lodge! ! Everything you could ever ask for! Hot tub was clean and we used it every night! The kitchen was the most well stocked kitchen I have ever seen!!! Directions from the sat nav stop you before the lodge but when I spoke to Kevin the day before our stay he told me this and explained where to go after the sat nav stopped and we had no problems finding the lodge. Very close to Northallerton which is a lovely little town with plenty of shops and supermarkets! Thank you again we had a lovely stay!!
Sophie
Beautiful cottage, lovely clean rooms with amazing view. I would definitely go again but we arrived late at night and found it difficult to find but the owner was very helpful
Vanessa
We had a wonderful 5 day stay, great base to visit coast and stately homes nearby. Restaurants a short drive or recommend Als Taxis. Hot Tub definitely a bonus. Will definitely be back.
Had a lovely stay at CarvinTor, the property is lovely and set in a beautiful location. Kevin and his family are close at hand, and a delight to meetspeak with. We even had the added bonus of meeting a 2 day old goat on their nearby farm just before departure! Rare we say this about anywhere we visit but we'd definitely come back again!
Thank you for our visit Was super relaxed and super friendly Thank you for ... Thank you for our visit Was super relaxed and super friendly Thank you for the accommodating environment you provide We will return Thank you

As a group of 6 ladies, we have just returned from a weekend in Carvin Tor. A very pleasant stay overall. 1010 for cleanliness! Not a spec of dust to be seen! Bedding was beautiful and fresh. The bathroom is lovely and spacious. The hottub was worth it's weight in gold as we had sunshine all weekend and it sits in the sun all day, so we made good use of this. The owner comes every day to check the pH level and it was beautifully hot and ready to use on arrival. This was fantastic for a weekend away with friends, but I think we would have felt quite cramped if we had stayed any longer, as we maxed out the capacity with 6 people. Low beams in the kitchen and bedrooms can be dangerous if you forget they're there! No dishwasher, although not to say there won't be in the future as there were tablets in the cupboard and a space next to the fridge where one may have been previously. Smart TV, tv's in bedrooms, microwave, toaster, oven & hobs, washing machine but no detergent so be sure to take your own if you plan to use it. Hand soap, tea towels, washing up liquid and spongescourer. Large fridge and freezer so plenty of room for all our food and drink. Excellent supply of glasses and plastic beakers, which is important to use outside, as glass not allowed in hottub. Not suitable for wheelchair access or to anyone unable to climb steps.

A beautiful apartment in a beautiful location at the end of a quiet village close to plenty of walking routes. Also just a couple of miles away from bars, restaurants and shops in Northallerton. Well equipped with everything you could possibly need in a self catering property.

Thank you for a lovely weekend, The cottage was amazing and just what we needed. We will defiantly return
Eileen
The steps up to the property was not mentioned in the description. The entrance living room would benefit from curtains across the double doors to provide privacy and make it more cosy. The hot water system needs attention as it kept going cold and losing pressure. The owner was helpful in trying to fix the problem but it kept re occurring. On the whole a pleasant place to stay.
We had a nice few days here. Kevin was very helpful
Alison
Had a lovely few days. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. Other reviews have said about getting a bit lost use what3words pose.surprised.ending this take you straight there. I will be recommending this little bolt hole to friends not too far from towns but enough for some peace and quiet. Kevin a very nice chap easy to talk to if you have any questions.
Had a lovely stay at CarbonTor our only issue was finding the place! The post code took us past and we werent taking notice of the sign we drove past, so we had to ask a local how to get there but only took us 5 mins more so not a major problem!!! Overall lovely cute place love that its on the second floor also makes it feel more safe!
Beautiful place that is perfect for 6 people! Very clean and the kitchen has every utensil you could ever need! We stayed during storm Arwen and was slightly worried about noise from the storm but we couldn't hear anything really and we were lovely and toastie inside! We stayed here on a recommendation from a friend and we are so glad we did! Beds are very comfortable and we all had a lovely nights sleep! We stayed as 6 girls celebrating a 40th birthday and found a lovely bar in Northallerton called the Potting Shed that had a DJ on, so if anybody is going for a similar thing, we recommend there!
The property was just as it said, so lovely & so peaceful & quiet. Would definitely go back. Only thing, directions sent to me by Sykes only got me to the main road which is long & runs through the entire village it was dark & there's no phone signal, so had to drive out of the village to get signal & ring the lovely owner who was very helpful & directed me straight there. But essentially my waffle is saying better instructions could have prevented me bothering the owner on a Friday night! The sat nav doesn't take you to the address.
Just back from a fantastic 6 day stay at Carvin Tor. What a wonderful little hideaway this property is. Kevin, the owner is such a helpful bloke, full of knowledge of the local area and nothing is too much trouble for him. The property was spotless throughout, kitchen well stocked with every utensilpotspans you could ever need, real home from home. Beds were extremely comfortable, we slept like logs ! Great , strong WiFi signal, comfortable sofas in the lounge area and TVs in every room with Freeview and as its October it was a little chilly in the evenings so we cranked the heating up a little bit, made it even cozier with the rain lashing against the windows and the wind howling! The hot tub was lovely too. Ok, its not the newest model but it does what its supposed to do, hot, bubbly and very relaxing. We will definitely be back for another visit. The location is perfect for getting out to either the North Yorkshire moors or The Dales, theres so much to see and do within a short drive and spectacular scenery everywhere. My wife and I would highly recommend Carvin Tor, well be back as soon as we can.
Lovely little lodge for 4 of us with the hot tub to celebrate a birthday. Could do with some fairy lights on the wooden panels in the eveningdusk to enjoy the hot tub in the dark and the peaceful surroundings. Lovely & clean and cozy we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would stay again. Friendly owner.
Holiday cottage is situated in a great area for visiting different places, we loved the views in the beautiful countryside. Great to come back and relax in the hot tub
Comfortable accommodation, everything we needed was provided. Came home with two bags of apples so have been busy peeling and freezing pies to come later. Post code alone is not sufficient to find to find the accommodation. Look out for the eggs for sale sign.
