Bleng Barn Cottage Reviews

Mateusz
Nice little cottage in remote area, very friendly horses, convenient location. Overall we would go back there again.
Beautiful place , we really enjoyed our time there for the new year , kids loved the hot tub . Friendly family
Lovely location, with easy access to Wastwater, Ennerdale and the coast. Walks from the door to forest and even across to Wastwater. Beds were super comfy. Hot tub was great. Plenty of space for 5 adults. Host accessible and replied to messages really quickly. Appreciate that it's a working farm, but dogs were quite noisy at times throughout the night.

The cottage is very well situated, both for adventurewalking days, or popping to another part of the lakes, very clean and well presented! We know the area very well as we lived locally in previous years. There was more than enough room for 4 adults, 1 teething baby, 1 very large dog, and a medium dog! The hosts where very quick to answer any questionsqueries, and did their utmost to ensure we had everything we needed, and left us to our own devises with out swamping or mithering! The cottage is on a working farm, so if your not used to 'country life' this may be bit of a shock to the system! We absolutely loved our time here and would definitely book again!
Very peaceful and lovely watching the lambs appearing in the field next door over the days we were there. Owner lives next door so was easy to contact for any issues. Nearest pub was good. Nice homemade pies and v dog friendly
Great relaxing place . Not bothered at any time. Great location for hiking or mountain biking. Hot tube kept kids busy every evening!
Nichola
Bleng barn was warm and comfy we enjoyed our girls trip there. Hot tub great too. Had everything we need. It is on a farm so do expect the noise and smell it's part of the countryside, nice pubs nearby in gosforth village and good location for both coast and lakes.
Such a beautiful place , simply everything you need there. A home from home 10 out of 10 for everything... Will definitely go again
Denise
The hot tub was fantastic. Bed very comfortable, bedding and towels lovely and clean. Liked the area very much and, after our initial disappointment see below enjoyed a relaxed and fun holiday. Also had a fantastic meal at the local restaurant, The Wild Olive. Microwave hadn't been cleaned but that may be because the cleaner wasn't quite finished on our arrival. We were disappointed that there was not a usable garden, as stated in the details. The plot on the photographs no longer looks like that, the nettles are 3 ft high it is not pretty. The dog used the area but the dog walker had to be very careful and did have nettle stings on a couple of occasions.

We had a brilliant stay, thanks so much!

We loved our short stay, the children especially enjoyed being on a farm with the animals. The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. Location was also good as it was relatively close to places we wanted to visit. Fabulous stay, would recommend.
Richard
We had no real issues with the cottage it provided just what we required. The smells and sounds of the farm were everpresent, buy that was only to be expected. Maybe a little more storage facilities in bedrooms? Getting even one car into the space in front of the cottage was a bit tricky, and we didn't attempt two. Would it be possible to widen the approach by infilling between the drive and the house?
Fantastic location with beautiful scenery and amazing walks from the doorstep. Owners were happy to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Gosforth is a lovely little village about a mile away. One of the dogs took a disliking to our dog, which made it slightly awkward entering and leaving the site.
The frequent loud barking from the several kennelled dogs close to the holiday cottage was a continual irritant. We would not recommend the cottage and will not be booking it again.
We all had a fantastic time, the cottage was lovely and it was nice being part of the farm and have the animals around with the gorgeous views.
Loved this place. Especially the warm welcome and the lambs!
We arrived at Bleng Cottages mid afternoon and the first thing we noticed was no Hot Tub. When I contacted the owners I was told that it had been broken over the weekend and a replacement would be put in on the Tuesday. We had no prior contact from the owner to inform us of this, which would have been a nice jesture. Hot tub finally arrived o. The Wednesday so we managed to use it Wednesday night, and only for a couple of hours as it had a leak as part was brokenmissing. That was it it for that. As this was one of the features that was offered, this is why we booked the cottage. The facilities in the cottage were OK, please be aware that the bedrooms are in the eaves so watch your heads. Very handy for local emenities with village about a mile away. Good pubs with decent food. On the whole we had a good and relaxing time let down only by not having the hot tub all week apart from the two hours Wednesday night. We were offered a couple of free nights but as we had work on the Sunday we weren't able to accept.
We had a lovely stay. Cottage perfectly equipped for a walking holiday with dogs and is very comfortable. The hot tub a lovely bonus! Its on a working farm so expect all that comes with that dogs and cows etc. Perfect location for exploring the western lakes. Would definitely recommend! The Gosforth Inn is only a 15 minute walk from cottage, very welcoming and great food.
Good location for walking. Good food in nearby dog friendly pubs. Hot tub is a great facility with beautiful scenery. Breathtaking views of one of the lakes and surrounding mountains 6 miles from cottage. Knowledge of the local area and trips from owner of Gosforth Hall Inn, lovely food there too.

Lovely place, great location. Not as enclosed as I thought based on previous reviews so was abit difficult with a toddler wanting to see the horses and then having tractors on the other side. Apple courtyard is lovely and enclosed but needs a tidy up with all the nettles. Property was lovely, would suggest a deep clean as there was a lot of mess between the sofas and flies everywhere which cannot be helped but a clean would help. Providing handwash, kitchen towels and more toilet roll would be great. Overall we had a fantastic time, hot tub was great and clean Lovely people around the farm aswell. Woods stream to the left and Seascale beach so close by! Had an amazing time! Thank you
Everything catered for, lovely quiet rural location with easy access to village. Had to be wary of farm dogs as one took a disliking to our pet.
Clean well presented . We enjoyed the stay and Gosforth is a good base for Western Lakes . The access to good dog walking up the valley helpful . Hot tub great . A sunshade or parasol would be good in these strange very hot days! Fencing in the area round the hot tub so dog could be secure would have been a benefit as we unable to leave door open due to our dog as we did not want him straying into the busy farm operation. A really good let and although not the cheapest we felt it was very good overall. Thanks!
Nicola
Great cottage in beautiful location. Owner was lovely and made sure we had a great stay. Everything provided that we could need. Hot tub great and a welcome addition after a rather brisk swim in the lakes.
Heather
The property is very tired and needs a lot of updating. It was relatively clean but had lots of spiders webs everywhere and looks like a leaking toilet downstairs. There was no hand washsoap in the property and no blind put up in the third bedroom. When we asked for this to be remedied the owner was unhelpfulrude but sent someone evebtually. I think this property is overpriced but the hot tub was nice.
A cosy, home feel, with a glorious outlook and lots of wonderful walks in the area. The place could do with being updated and it is looking a little tired.
We had a lovely stay at Bleng Barn, the cottage was very clean on arrival and lovely and warm. The cottage was well equipped everything we needed was available. The hot tub was amazing, red hot and ready to use as soon as we arrived. Great location, 1015 minutes walk to the village and lots of lovely walks near by. We look forward to returning in the future. Thank you
Debbie
Had a great weekend, the cottage was lovely. Thank you.

Lovely place I went for my 40th birthday very friendly people and village would ... Lovely place I went for my 40th birthday very friendly people and village would definitely go again and recommend see you next year
Heather
The cottage was lovely and in a nice little setting. The only downside was the cleanliness of the place. It was generally fine but there were parts like shelves which seemed to have been missed repeatedly, and we ended up checking or rewashing most of the kitchen utensils before using. Otherwise everything was great. We loved the hot tub and everything was very comfortable.
Angela
My husband and I had a lovely four night stay at this very cosy cottage. Very clean and tidy, and the open play layout is ideal for family stays. The location is excellent, with lovely walks from the door. The hot tub is amazing, especially on a cold winter's evening under the stars. Down the road in the village there is a good selection of local pubs. The farmer owners were very friendly and helpful. Excellent accommodation.
We had the best time perfect location with loads of walks close by. the cottage was lovely, clean had everything needed for our stay the hot tub was a very welcome addition! The owner and all the workers on the farm were very friendly! Would definitely look at staying again will be recommending it to others.
Lovely cottage, location is great. Plenty of pubs to eat and drink. The horses at the cottage are very friendly. The best bit of course is the hot tub.
We had a great holiday, the owners were welcoming and very helpful even after our stay, when we realised we had left an item there. Isobel kindly posted this for us! Great space for the children to explore and for the dogs to exercise.
Emilia
We had lovely time. Managed to see amazing places, Despite the rain. Cottage was well organised. Comfortable beds. Hot tub warm and well looked after. For us particullary the only con would be the location,as we had to drive 30mins1,5h to reach hills and hiking walks. Thank you
Patricia
At the present moment with the covid situation we felt it could have been a bit cleaner. The cushions and throws should have been removed as they did not look clean and were very worn looking. We removed from the leather looking sofa and cleaned down the sofa before using. Did not use the other sofa at all... There are no wardrobes in any of the bedrooms, only a low rail fitted on low beam which resulted in some clothes trailing on the floor. Only one small cupboard in the kitchen for food storage, not really adequate as some food had to be left on the window sill.. The outside space shown in the photos was very overgrown and not suitable for use, and dog mess which had not been cleaned up!!!
William
Had a lovely break at the cottage with friends, lovely part of the country with beautiful walks and places to visit in the car. The host, Isabel, was very helpful and friendly. The hot tub was clean and well maintained.
