Red Lion House Reviews

John
A wonderful place to stay. The hosts are lovely, highly intelligent and respectful. We could not have imagined such a great experience.
Nick
Beautiful house in a lovely garden. Lots of space for our extended family & dog. The pub round the corner served great food & was very handy!
Michael
The cottage was really well equipped. The location is quite remote, at least 30mins drive to get to Cragside or slightly more for Alwnwick etc. Garden was lovely and well enjoyed by us all, and the dog. Orangery was a nice spot for a drink in the evening.
Sam
A beautiful house with everything you need and more. A wonderful place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery, especially from the extraordinary bathtub!
Stella
We had a wonderful family holiday in this exceptional house with its beautiful and enormous enclosed garden and views over the Cheviot Hills. It is a lovely house, comfortable and high quality and yet homely
John

Just back from an excellent weekend at the beautiful red lion house in Alnwinton , The house was everything we wanted and more . Fantastic area quiet but lots to explore , and dog friendly . Great pub next door ! Thank you to the lovely hosts Merete and Kris , hopefully we will be back Sandra, Gary and Family
Derek
Kris and Merete went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful Christmas at Red Lion House. The house is fabulous and as suggested by Kris we had our Christmas meal in the Orangery which made it very special. Would also recommend people to try the Rose and Thistle pub which is only 50 yards away and serves great food and the staff were warm and friendly. Would be more than happy to return again and would happily recommend to anyone looking for 5 star accommodation in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside.
Tim
We've just had a great stay at Red Lion House and we'll definitely be back! A beautiful house in a wonderful setting and stocked to the brim with everything you need; it's a wonderful location for a break. We did a long weekend with 9 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 dogs and loved the place. Fabulous walks from the door, easy access to both the stunning Northumberland coast and border country and a lovely pub just next door. Perfect in every way and definitely a 10 out of 10 from all of us. TIM WALKER
Judith
We have had the most idyllic week with all the family. The house is stunning and the garden was a dream for the little grandchildren and doggies!. Lovely pub round the corner with fab food. Would definitely come again in the future

An absolutely stunning house in a stunning area . A minute walk to the pub with great food , owner was very easy to contact and heâ??s very helpful. Totally recommend this house for a large party .
Nick
The house is spacious & comfortable & was ideal for an extended family gathering. The area is great for walking & cycling, & the pub round the corner is friendly & welcoming with excellent pub food!
Jonathan
Red Lion House is situated in the beautiful Coquet Valley in Northumberland, and makes lovely accommodation for a self-catering holiday. It is spacious, comfortable, clean and very well appointed. You get a lovely orangery and large garden as well. The owners have left some of their stuff in the house, which is also available for use. Very highly recommended.
Allison
This is a truly stunning property, both inside and out -- it's even more beautiful than in the photos. The location is ideal, with numerous walks in the National Park from the doorstep, and a friendly pub with great food just a stone's throw away. Both Kris, the owner, and Susan, the local contact, were very helpful and friendly. Our group of 7 humans and 3 dogs spent an extremely comfortable and enjoyable week, and we would love to come back.
Alastair
Red Lion House is situated in a beautiful part of Northumberland with great access to coast and hills. Having the pub in Alwinton a few metres away is a real advantage. The house is ideal for multi generational use (although no downstairs bedroom) with very comfortable beds. Itâ??s great having three separate sitting rooms all with comfortable sofas to which to retreat. The conservatory is a great dining space for a large group. The telescope is a real bonus. The huge garden in mid summer was spectacular. This is clearly a family home and consequently is very well equipped. There is plenty of parking. We would book again for our family.
Colin
We couldnâ??t have asked for a better place! Everything about Red Lion House was perfect. A stunning, homely accommodation that we didnâ??t want to leave. We tried the local Rose & Thistle and highly recommend the food. We hope to return to this beautiful part of the world and especially Red Lion House.
Beth

Visiting Northumberland with three families, with children of differing ages, Red Lion House was perfect. There was a huge amount of space for everyone and the amazing garden and garden games were invaluable. Everything that could be wanted was available and the contact with the owners was quick and easy. Everyone agreed that we would return, great location and an amazing house.
